Who Cleared The Bidens?

I keep reading and hearing people in the media claim that the activities of Joe and Hunter Biden in Ukraine were investigated and they were cleared of any wrongdoing. My response has been, “Who cleared them?” Today in The Independent:

Joe Biden’s son Hunter ‘did not violate anything’, says former Ukraine prosecutor at heart of Trump scandal

A top former Ukrainian prosecutor says Hunter Biden, son of Democratic 2020 frontrunner Joe Biden, broke no Ukrainian laws in his business dealings in the former Soviet country.

Yuri Lutsenko’s claim comes after Donald Trump has pushed the narrative that the former vice president abused his position in the Obama administration to help his son, and as the president himself has been accused of abusing his position by trying to get the president of Ukraine to dig up dirt on the Bidens.

Mr Lutsenko told the Washington Post: “From the perspective of Ukrainian legislation, he did not violate anything.”

The report from the Washington Post marks the first interview Mr Lutsenko has given since it was revealed that an intelligence official had filed a whistleblower complaint stating that Mr Trump had sought to pressure Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to re-open an investigation into Hunter Biden.

A redacted version of that whistleblower complaint was released Thursday. That document indicated that over half a dozen officials had come forward with concerns that Mr Trump had abused his office for personal gain during the 25 July phone call with Mr Zelensky, in which he suggested that the Ukrainian president work with his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and US attorney general William Barr to investigate Mr Biden.

The first thing wrong is the headline – it’s a Biden scandal, not a Trump scandal. But the thing that jumps out to me is when the guy says “broke no Ukrainian laws.” Really? What about American laws? And if Hunter broke no laws, why was Gropey Joe so hot to get the prosecutor fired?

Here’s the kicker:

The senior Biden, for his part, had pressured Ukraine to fire Mr Lutsenko’s predecessor, Viktor Shokine, who had been accused by western forces of not pursuing anti-corruption charges aggressively enough.

What the fucking fuck? This is the guy who replaced the guy who Biden got fired? And we are supposed to believe him?

Prosecutor Shokine: “We are investigating corruption involving VP Biden’s son.”
VP Joe Biden: “Fire that prosecutor or else!”
(New) Prosecutor Lutsenko: “Hunter Biden did nothing wrong.”

Biden has been leading the Democratic field. The central case for his candidacy rests on the supposedly exemplary work he did as a senior member of Team Obama. Well, in 2016, acting as the Obama administration’s point man in Ukraine, the vice president — unlike Trump — openly threatened to withhold $1 billion in American loan guarantees if the embattled nation didn’t fire the country’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin.

By coincidence, Hunter had landed this cushy gig in a foreign country only a few months after the Obama administration began dispatching his father, Joe, to the very same foreign country on a regular basis.

There was, of course, absolutely nothing in Hunter’s resume to indicate that he would be a valuable addition to foreign energy interest. He didn’t speak the language, and he had no particular expertise in the energy industry. Oh, he did have one thing, though: his last name.

I suppose, that isn’t entirely fair. Hunter once ran a hedge fund with his dad’s brother, James Biden, and associated with a notorious Ponzi schemer. James would go on to snag a job as executive vice president of a construction company in 2010, despite having virtually no experience in the field. And only a few months into his tenure, the company would win one of its biggest contracts in its history, a $1.5 billion deal to build affordable homes in Iraq.

By pure happenstance, Joe was also the Obama administration’s point man in Iraq at the time. Funny how these things work out.

Myiq, how about this bs from that article, “…..That document indicated that over half a dozen officials had come forward with concerns that Mr Trump had abused his office for personal gain during the 25 July phone call with Mr Zelensky……”. No one came forward, it is all hearsay from the one person. FakeNews.

    • DeniseVB says:

The only thing I’ve picked up is that the old Ukrainian prosecuter WAS fired after the Biden threat, it was the new prosecutor who cleared Hunter. I think that’s an important fact, right?

    • John Denney says:

Half a dozen? How many would have been privy to the conversation? All six? How many people would be in the room with the President when he made the call?

I doubt a half dozen would be, which indicates some of the six are running on hearsay, which means the whistleblower’s testimony is hearsay of hearsay.

Executive privilege. Force Nancy to take a vote in order to expand subpoena powers.

My husband said the R’s are not fighting back appropriately. He said this is like Harry Reid claiming Romney paid no taxes on steroids. Later Reid shrugged and smiled, then said “He didn’t win, did he?”

This is war, the D’s don’t care about the country only power. They are playing for keeps and nobody closes ranks like the D’s when the going gets tough.

Team Trump and the R’s need to be war gaming this. The weak kneed like Romney, Lee and Sasse need to be read the riot act. Time is of the essence.

I really hope this backfires and the D’s go down in flames, losing their majority for years to come. In the long run it would be the best thing for our country. The old hacks clinging to power would hopefully resign and some new blood might get in. Although if they’re like the squad 😲

They had to embellish it more?

Because it was in their armory of stupid things to fire at PTrump in their quest to obstruct and resist?

      • Constance says:

It’s just another of their stupid stunts to keep from working on The Peoples business. They need to look important and busy until they can dispose of Trump and go back to doing their Globalist masters business, which is their reason to exist.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I am guessing the report was prepared before they identified the supposed whistle blower. Probably before the call even took place. Shiftless is in the Ukraine mess as deeply as Biden and the rest of those sluts. All timed and staged to make PT look like the bad guy while they all wring their hands and shout impeach before we are hung as traitors.

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Sorry auto SJW correction got me.
Before THEY are hung as traitors. They want it to be us.

That wanted to do it when the UN was in session too.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

They were also hoping to get a hot mic moment and cry child abuse when that climate obsessed brat confronted PT and he simply walked by and ignored the maneuvering trying to put her in his path.

I haven’t donated to the Donald campaign fund yet, waiting for the Free KAG hat with a donation like I got my MAGA hat 🙂

      • lyn says:

I can take a $100 tax credit each year in Oregon for political donations. I’d rather give $100 to Trump than to Oregon state. I think I gave $105 this year to MAGA.

        • DeniseVB says:

Political donations are not tax deductible per federal rules? Can states override that? Just wondering. Our tax guy says I can’t even deduct bags of Goodwill Donations unless I have the original sales receipt for each item?

          • Mothy67 says:

I don’t think that’s true about donating clothing. You can ask for a receipt at Goodwill and you are allowed x amount per item up to a certain amount without documentation. You can even right off volunteer time. Very high donations say a house can even be spread out over years to get the max.

          • DeniseVB says:

I’m not a tax expert so that’s why we hire one. Based on our retirement income, we have to donate 13k a year to write it off. We just don’t bother any more because if we claim that much, we better have receipts available in case we’re audited.

          • lyn says:

Oregon allows the sate tax credit for political donations–$50 per person–up to $100.

          • lyn says:

I take photos of what I donate. I donated $150 worth of canned cat food to the Humane Society, and I have the store receipts, I can’t itemize on federal, but I am itemizing on state.

          • Mothy67 says:

I never bother keeping track of all the little donations. I have had people ask me for my receipts though.

        • Constance says:

I’m usually donating $50. a month to “We build the Wall” who are about to start their second project but I have given some to Trump.
