The Call of the Wild

I am a civilized and educated man.

I live in a nation that believes in freedom of speech, or used to anyway. Officially it still does, but in practice, people tend to support their own freedom of speech, other people’s not so much.

An industrial civilization such as ours requires that large groups of people live and work in close proximity to each other. This make tolerance for others essential. Our society would break down if everybody was constantly fighting and killing each other.

A big part of being civilized is understanding and accepting that we must each control our own passions. That’s what we call “self-discipline.” But just because we control our passions, that doesn’t mean we don’t have any. Scientists tell us that we’re not all that different from our neolithic ancestors. Since the beginning of recorded history we have evolved more as a group than as individuals. In just a few thousand years we’ve gone from tribes of hunter-gatherers to a modern industrialized civilization. At the time of the Roman Empire, my people were barbarians. You could say we were “late adopters” of civilization.

But each of us still feels the call of the wild sometimes. Like when somebody is giving you their two cents worth and you want to give them two nickles and ten knuckles in return. I’m not talking about self-defense, I’m talking about offense-to-self: when someone says something that makes you so angry you want to teach them the meaning of “Shut your pie-hole or I’ll shut it for you!”

It is both fortunate and frustrating for me that usually when I see a Backpfeifengesicht I’m watching television. Screaming at, throwing things at, assaulting and/or smashing your television has no effect on the piehole you want closed, but it won’t get you arrested either. Which is why I quit watching television. I find myself spending less and less time online too.

I fear that political violence in this country is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I’m afraid to think about what would happen if the Democrats impeach and convict Trump, or if they steal this next election. That would open a Pandora’s box.

As we’ve seen in Portland and other Democrat-controlled cities, we can’t count on the cops and courts to stop Antifa fascists.

Terrific essay. I feel the violence coming too and it scares me.

Rush is right. There are a lot of people at risk.

This is like a bad movie.

I was a freshman in college in 1970 when classes were suspended, and we all were required to attend the very first Earth Day conferences. Nothing that was predicted that day has come true. We are not all dying because the ozone layer has been completely destroyed. We are not forced to live in close proximity to each other like rats in a cage because of overpopulation. We are not all starving because we have over-farmed the land. There are more trees now than were growing then. Our water is safer and cleaner now. Some of the things didn’t come true because we were told lies, but some of them didn’t come true because we fixed them. The scientists and engineers who really believe there is a climate change on the horizon that will be devastating to humans are looking for ways for humans to adapt. They aren’t trying to take over the world’s economic system and to gain political power. Many of them are hoping to get rich from their inventions, and that’s fine with me. I hope the fellow who invented the air conditioner made a bundle. His invention increased the productivity of millions of people.

With all the technological advancements in the petroleum industry and in fuel efficiency and adjusting for inflation, gas should be cheaper than it was in the early 60’s and plentiful too. But there are so many hungry mouths to feed – politicians, shipping, refining, distributing, retailer, wholesalers, governments that tax the shit out of gas, stockholders, and oil company execs – the have to hold down production to keep prices up so everyone can get paid.

Then Trump took the chains off of our domestic oil business. We produced so much oil that the prices dropped a lot and the Russians are hurting. They need that oil money and now they have to produce more and make less.

Yep, that guy the Democrats call “Putin’s Puppet” hurt the Russians bad. And being short on cash keeps Bad Vlad in check. Then Trump started to cozy up with the new president of Ukraine. The Democrats blew that up.

And now the Ukrainians are thinking that we’re insane and our system is more corrupt than theirs. And the Democrats are gonna blame Trump for the diplomatic fallout.

they are the personification of the word EVIL. They may think they’re smart, and they may be. But they are vile snakes that should be driven of a cliff or into a bog or a fiery pit. I hope what goes around will come around to each and every one of them

What I’d like to know is this . . . If you and I know about this, how is it the “minority” does not? They have to know and either they are allowing this Gestapo-like action to take place or they don’t care.

    • Somebody says:

They are far better organized. They’re not only meeting at the higher levels, they are rallying their grass roots. We on the other hand are disorganized, nobody is leading a charge on DC or even organizing locally. Are we just going to sit passively by and watch this coup play out?

We can’t do it online. The tech overlords are in control there. Why isn’t the RNC preparing for battle? I’ll answer because DJT isn’t one of them, he’s not part of their club and btw neither are we.

The left and Democrats have all the rich anti-conservative bigots funding them. I have no problem with an armed rebellion. The media will lose the narrative when people are so pissed off. What these evil savages want to do to President Trump, they do to us by nullifying our vote.

    • Constance says:

The impeachment drive is also out of control of Congress-people in my opinion. It’s being driven by another group, possibly the Obama, Val Jarrett, cabal. Nancy looked stricken to me. Like a person who has been threatened by thugs. I do hope Trump has his own loyal body guards because I would not trust anything or anyone associated with the FBI or CIA.

    • Constance says:

I don’t know. More like they are leaving because they are hapless chicken shits and they are standing down so the real people in control of the impeachment process can drive it.

    • Island Girl says:

I can’t even fathom that this is legal. Nancy is really insane.

Watergate Journalist: Barr Preparing To Drop Proof of ‘Deep State Conspiracy’

An investigative journalist behind much of the original Watergate scandal reporting dropped a bombshell this week about Attorney General William Barr’s rumored effort to expose the deep state.

Carl Bernstein, who earned his fame by uncovering the massive scandal involving a break-in at the Watergate complex and the ensuing cover-up, revealed in a CNN interview Thursday what his sources say Barr is preparing to do.

  9. Dora says:

    A good sign. (I hope)

    • Somebody says:

If DJT is impeached in the house and convicted in the senate he will be banned from holding public office. So how many R’s or D’s won’t matter.

To go a step further, if this coup is allowed to be carried out no votes will ever matter again. A republic if you can keep it, indeed.

      • taw46 says:

If AG Barr has been investigating the previous coup and has all the facts, he better release them now. And there better be indictments. Or else this second coup will go forward. And I am afraid they might be successful this time. I am not all that confident that the Senate will stop it.

      • votermom says:

I think an actual impeachment conviction in the Senate would result in a shooting war. 75% sure that’s what would happen.
25% of me is eh, maybe we really aren’t America anymore and we just roll over like the Brits

  11. helenk3 says:

one of the greatest things that Trump did was make politicians reveal their true character

  12. lyn says:

The anti-Trump media and Democrats are performing an impressive magic trick with the public right now. They have cleverly framed the situation as Trump bullying a foreign country to help him get reelected. As long as you focus on that frame, you are somewhat blind to the better question: Is it risky to have a candidate for president — who is leading in every poll — while the candidate’s son is taking money from a foreign country and giving not-so-much back to them in return? That seems risky as hell to me. Do you see it differently?

      • lateblum says:

Frankly, I didn’t think Biden was ever really IN the picture. I thought HRC would’ve been, though. Although I hope not, she still may be.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

The circus debates are just a distraction. Biden is the only one who polls reasonably well across a wider base and had the best chance to pull the more moderate vote against PT . But the inside polls showed them even Biden would not win even a very very rigged race and he is becoming unhinged. So they have been holding the cards on their latest coup attempt to get PT Out of office. They timed it so the whole world would be watching.

I suspect both McCain and Romney /ryan were promised a turn if they let Barry win and then Hillary for a single term. McCain kicked the bucked before he got to play president. And that is what it is all about.

They just want someone to run around and pretend while the global cabal calls the shots. They have already picked the teams for several election cycles. Trump screwed it all up.

          • Constance says:

Eric Holder would fit the Globalists agenda. Black, a certain cool factor and willing to let the Globalists arrange things and call the shots. He’d make the perfect puppet. I don’t see Warren as a conforming puppet. Sanders is off the rails and unpredictable.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

None of the supposed front runners would really work but they are all good at distracting attention. They have all been bought before. Not hard to do it again
Then pull a rabbits out of the hat so that will p, on the surface, look better than the warrens and Bernie’s. Miss flip flop pelosi white suit is part of the overall act just as much as corker and camel.

Holder is an interesting thought ad they sent him to California and out of the public eye nationwide.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

            Ops kitty hit reply.
Someone like Holder who has been out of national radar and had time to bleach their life history so they can look far more rational and moderate than they actually are or ever will be.

      • Constance says:

I think Warren will be the pick of the current batch or I can see Eric Holder magically appearing. Mr Starbucks could do well with a third party run, he might prevent Trump from winning but I heard he was being treated for cancer (however I can’t find any articles that state that).

It’s “Screech to Impeach” Even if they don’t impeach him, he will have an asterisk after his name.

Not sending you to the link, but it’s by Ezra Klein.
….. as to why we must screech to impeach, even if impeachment does not result in removal.
Impeachment acts as a form of public disgrace. To be one of only four impeached presidents in American history, even if you are not convicted by the Senate, is to know an asterisk will be forever attached to your presidency, your offenses prominently recorded. It’s a humiliation for you and a warning to your successors.

    Medicare for all?
Why do the mega hospital groups want it?
UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) is the largest employer in my county. There is also a second large health network. They control a lot in politics if they did not want medicare for all my dish rag of a rep would be screaming no. Many big cities have tremendous amounts of their economies tied to medicine and education. Boston, Cleveland. No way they would be silent if it hurt the bottom dollar. UPMC does billions a year. So what is up with that beyond the death panels? Whatever is coming has been planned for awhile. I have watched some of the moves they make here and scratch my head wondering now why would they do that?

  29. Woke Lola says:

This is a classic problem. What to do when you are forced to be the same room as someone else, and they refuse to act anyway but violent and crazy? How do you protect yourself from that? Leave the room? In this case, the room is the political arena, so you really can’t do that. Best bet is to lock down the adversary to minimize damage to your person. That’s a risky bet because of what the room is. Maybe try to pull a Neo (Matrix) style fight? I’d like to see that.

I thought the same thing. Especially after hearing the reference to Obama in Joe Biden’s little brag session, which openly implies that obam knew what Joe was doing, when he was strong arming the Ukraine, to fire the prosecutor investigating his son.
Who knows what else these thugs got up to, that they didn’t brag about? I have a strong feeling, that we would find out in a Trump second term, and that is one of the reasons, the criminals aka Democrats, are so terrified of that happening. POTUS would have more flexibility, in his second term. 😎

I just rec’d a “push notice” that the offensive NYT has a story that PDJT and Rudy created a “shadow foreign policy” with Ukraine in order to “throw the administration a lifeline”.
