MAGA Friday Open Thread

What have we learned the past week or so? We learned that The Swamp does not intend to go quietly. We have learned that the Democrats would rather destroy this nation than give up power. And we learned that the Deep State really does exist. The so-called “whistleblower” (WB) described it in his nonsensical hearsay “complaint.”

The Intelligence Community (IC) is completely corrupted. So is the State Department. Trump has an Augean Stables-sized clean-up problem. He cannot trust IC or State Dept. employees (including managers and political appointees) to carry out his orders or follow his policies. He cannot trust them to keep classified information secret, nor can he trust them to tell him the full and complete truth.

I remember the stories I’ve heard about the old USSR. The KGB listened in the phone calls of virtually everybody, especially party leaders, Politburo members, military officers, and government officials. In those days the USSR maintained stability with their own version of the separation of powers. Power was divided between the Communist Party, the military, and the security apparatus.

Back then, leaking something to the Soviet media was a waste of time. So if you were in the Red Army and you wanted to sabotage something the Party was doing, you had to leak it to Western Intelligence. Here in America, you would just leak it to the news media. Leak Culture is so pervasive in Washington DC that there is such a thing as an “official leak.”

This past week we’ve seen leak culture taken to a whole new level, which is somehow Trump’s fault. (He made them do it.) Stuff that was kept on the most secure server the government has is getting leaked to the media. This kind of shit has got to stop. The IC is reporting everything Trump says and does to the Democrats, and leaking it to the news media.

Of course they only leak the stuff that makes Trump look bad.

The shrinking and shrieking NeverTrump contingent thinks they can make all this bad stuff go away by getting rid of Trump. But the Left does not just want to get rid of Trump, they want to discredit and punish the people who elected him. (That would be us.)

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be discredited and punished. I don’t want to find out just how crazy the Democrats are these days. But the Democrats have made taking our guns away a top priority. If and when they succeed in disarming us, we’ll find out what they are really like. That a question I would prefer not finding out the answer to.

Trump needs to clean house. If I was Trump I would start by booting every IC and State Dept employee out of the White House. Don’t let any of them back in until they have been screened by someone Trump can trust. Trying to prosecute any of them is a waste of time – Trump can’t trust the DOJ to prosecute and even if they did some Obama judge would kick the case out.

The Democrats forget the lesson of the filibuster. Harry Reid effectively killed the filibuster for a short-term gain. Then the GOP took the Senate, the Cocaine Mitch made them pay, especially in the area of judicial confirmations.

Whatever the Democrats do now will come back to haunt them someday. Soon, every POTUS will get impeached. If you want to see some bipartisanship and some speedy and efficient government, be there in the US Capitol Bldg. when a congressional pay raise comes thru.

MSM reporting on the latest leak, phone call with President of China, as if they have seen the readout. But no one has. Yet there they go, reporting on what was said as if those are facts and in the proper context – feeding propaganda to the viewers.

We have been hearing about the almost ready report for 8 months now. I’ll believe it when I see it. I also don’t see anyone being prosecuted for their appaling crimes against The People. So ….….Yawn, I think it is just business as usual.

      • lateblum says:

I’m with Constance on this. Unless they’re “holding” the report so they can release it in 2020, there is no reason not to do it now. I’m not holding my breath, either.

      • Somebody says:

Agree Constance. Horowitz has so far produced jack. What he has uncovered DOJ has declined to prosecute. Swamp is gonna swamp. I’m sure Horrowitz will give talking heads plenty to chew on, but soon enough his report will fade away and the beat will go on, nobody having been held accountable. Oh wait, excuse me…..they may be required to sit through bias sensitivity training or whatever the hell It was Wray promised to subject his bad boys at the FBI to.

It’s funny how Horrowitz allows those outed in potential wrongdoing to review his report and off a rebuttal. No such opportunity was afforded to POTUS by Atkinson.

Congress can request a Special Prosecutor via a judicial panel drawn from the US Court of Appeals. This is how Kenneth Starr got appointed. This is unlikely because it requires passage of a law, and they don’t have the numbers for veto override authority. Source:

BUT, they could appoint a Commission. This is a long drawn out affair, and it would be outrageous to appoint Hillary Clinton to such a Commission in this case, but she’s pointing to alleged expertise for this kind of Commission here.

I was trying to quit smoking. Makes me very tired (no coffee when I stop). Taking a nap and hiding from the world. The monster calls can I go to Fright Night. Kens can’t go unless there is an adult. I am barely awake and agree thinking it’s something at the school. Nooooooooo. It’s an event at an amusement park from 6 until 12am!!!!!! I am stuck going with 6 teenage girls. Odd number so I can’t even ride. I am going to sit in a beer garden for 6 hours. You betcha I have already lit up.
    I don’t know why I pretend I am in charge. I’m not.

    • Woke Lola says:

LOL at your last line,. Nope. Not when there are preadolescents and adolescents in the house!

But for real on the smoking thing. You can do this. I’m on Chantix again. Fourth time quitting in 3 years. My husband has lied and sabotaged me every time (except the first–there it was Italian cigarettes, which are DELICIOUS). But he knows that if he tanks my effort again, I’ma divorce his ass. So recover sufficiently today and we’ll join efforts tomorrow. Tomorrow is our quit date. If I get a divorce, we’ll meet for drinks and smokes and fine commiseration at that point, okay? LOL

      • SHV says:

“fourth time quitting in three year….quit date….”
I was a heavy smoker, >2 ppd, for longer than you’ve been alive and quit 19 years ago. (Al would divorce me in a heart beat if I started again). Don’t know about Chantrix but the advice that my internist gave me 20 years ago, for Wellbutrin, was that in his experience, most failures occurred because people set hard quit dates and didn’t stay on meds long enough.

I was on Wellbutrin for 3-4 months with no particular thoughts about quitting until I had gone from 2 ppd to 6 cigs per day, started Nicotine gum, quit cigs and stayed on meds for 3-4 more months. Have not smoked since but still love the smell of cig smoke and still have occasional dreams of Marlboro Reds, both box and soft pack. 🙂

        • Woke Lola says:

I have a Wellbutrin script in addition to the Chantix. I have some adverse reactions it Chantix, so though my doctor recommends I stay on it for six months, I can’t because of the mood and sleep effects it has. So I will switch to Wellbutrin during the second month to transition more easily.

What I mean by DH sabotaging me is that he finds it much harder to quit, and though I ban cigarettes from the house, he will stay up later than me and smoke inside with no apparent regard for my needs to not have smoking evidence in my personal living space. I can overcome exposure outside my house, but day in day out inside my house is just too much. And kissing his bearded mouth when he refuses to quit and tries to hide it from me is just marital disaster. So I told him if he couldn’t respect my needs and desire to live, he better hide it good or expect to move in with his parents. Because I’m not having it this time. I’m determined to be successful this time.

I hope you enjoy Britain, my friend!!!!

Best of luck. I have smoked on and off for 40 years. Somewhere along the way, I stopped caring. But I completely respect others efforts and applaud success. You can do it (if not tomorrow, maybe the next day).

          • DeniseVB says:

You have that nice screened porch he can use ! I don’t smoke inside the house because I hate the smell, just 10 cigs a day, I enjoy it too much 🙂

          • Jadzia says:

Vaping has helped me stop smoking entirely. At least when I’m sober.

      • swanspirit says:

I quit smoking in 1997, the year after my mother died of lung cancer. My son just finally quit smoking early this year, by vaping. I know it isn’t the ideal, but it’s such an improvement, and he is gradually lowering the amount of actual nicotine in the vapey thing.
You can do this, and you it. And btw, I never allowed smoking in the house. Shawn always went outside on the back porch, to smoke.

      • Miranda says:

My aunt quit this year after 56 years. No cigarettes since March. Nothing gives you incentive like congestive heart failure, brought on by a combination of COPD, emphysema, and pneumonia. They gave her prescriptions but she hasn’t filled them. She said every time she wants a cigarette, she thinks about how badly she felt with a blood O2 of 43 (supposed to be over 90).

        Good luck!

Another Leak & a Warning That Intel Might Shiv the President

Last night, CNN had an analyst on air who said someone in the intel community might stick a shiv in the President’s back if he keeps coming after them, daring to question them. John Brennan on MSNBC said the President’s own agencies are leaking to hurt him. That’s true and Brennan, a radical who once voted for a communist for President, is one of the former intel guys who is telling them to do it for the cause.

    • DandyTIger says:

So then the Intel Community is in charge and there is no democracy. So then our votes don’t matter and there are no laws. OK then, good to know. I hope the understand the ramifications for the population if we come to believe that.
