    • Anthony says:

Probably getting ahead of a story he found out Dems were going to release to scandalize and delegitimize #WalkAway. Smart move.

      • DeniseVB says:

He’s talked about his addictions before, I just had no idea it was for most of his adult life, at least while he was a Democrat 😛 He’s been clean and sober for 5 years, long before he started WalkAway, the Dems would be stupid to go after him for addictions. Of course going very public is a smart idea, but the Dems would figure out how to turn it against him 😉

  2. DeniseVB says:

So sick of politics right now. Oh look, here’s creepy Joe again…..

Night fever reminded me – KTE showed me a pilot of a musical sitcom
    slow start but cute concept

    • DeniseVB says:

That is pretty original. Watched the first 20 minutes, will finish it up later. Couldn’t believe they got the rights to an entire Beatles song too. 🙂 Oh, Lauren “Lorelai Gilmore” Graham is finally aging, lol.

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

        Loved her in Bad Santa

        • DeniseVB says:

I binge watched all the episodes of The Gilmore Girls when the UP channel ran a marathon. Loved her Lorelai character, hated how they wrapped it up with her daughter leaving to work for the Obama campaign. I think the series ended in 2007, suddenly? Without warning to the cast and crew? Weird. I know one of the pay streaming channels did a special to bring closure for the show’s rabid fans, which ended up with Rory being single and pregnant. Ooops, Spoilers 😉

Good thread, our Florida TCHers should pay attention, this is how they’re destroying Virginia. I swear RINOs are more annoying than Dems. Pollack’s book is a testament for not blaming guns for these tragedies. Dumb politicians.

Texans being terrorized by a squirrel??? This could soon be solved by a kid with a pellet gun.

    • DeniseVB says:

We used to leave peanuts out for the squirrels and blue jays until they started tearing up ours and neighbors’ flower pots to bury them, then started getting aggressive if we didn’t leave them munchies. Could be just a spoiled squirrel letting the humans know he’s hungry by giving them a “love bite” 😀

I like feeding the animals that live in my yard, but while I’ll make accommodations for them, the rules are when I step out the door, they’re to run for cover. I’m understanding. When a snake was using the handle of my grill as aid to shed its skin, I made my burgers inside so it had time to finish before it slid away. My little opossum finishes what it’s eating before it slips back under the deck, but it doesn’t get to go back for seconds until I go back in. All of that being said, the little bear last night was the closest I’ve seen one to my house. While I would have loved to get close enough to snap its picture in the dark, my fence is high enough to keep me from it, but not it from me. Adult New England male black bears can get s big as 500 lbs. This one looked about Ellie size so 80-100 lbs. It’s unusual to see one out and about at night, especially at this time of year. It must have been looking for something. I expected to see some havoc had been wreaked in the bird feeders in that corner of the yard. They were empty this morning but not disturbed. No tracks, but it continued to snow most of the night. It’s been my experience most encounters with wild animals that result in injury start with “the human did something stupid”.

      • Somebody says:

I had a “pet” squirrel one time that I named Hammy. Not a pet actually, never touched it and it never got closer than about 3 or 4 feet from me, but I fed him. Poor little fellow was never quite right, his head was way to big for his body. He never did grow into it, his body was always much smaller than the other squirrels not skinny just smaller. He was also lighter in color than the other squirrels, but not quite albino.

We had a hurricane coming, a CAT 1 that swiped us. We were already having outer bands push through and Hammy’s parents kicked him out of the nest. He took refuge on my lanai under my grill. I threw nuts out to him. After the storm he lived on the lanai for a time, until he had to go so we could use the grill. He built a nest eventually right at the edge of the woods directly behind my lanai. I continued to feed him, when he saw me come outside he’d come looking for nuts. He buried them in the yard.

One evening about sundown, he was bouncing across the yard to gather some nuts I’d thrown out for him and an owl took him. I gave chase, threw everything I could, but didn’t distract the owl. It was horrible. I never, ever go into the woods, ever…..I know what lurks there. But I did that evening without thinking I was running through the woods screaming Hammy, trying to find the owl’s nest of terror, throwing rocks and pine cones up into trees, screaming Hammy, Hammy!

My beloved family, the sickos that they are, were laughing. To this day they make fun of me , dramatically act out my attempt to rescue poor Hammy. My husband always says “Hammy was a fucking tree rat”.

I’ve never fed any other critter. I feel responsible for Hammy’s demise. He never would have had his guard down if I hadn’t “trained” him to fetch nuts. My husband says it’s a miracle he lived a year and half…..because he was a reject “tard” squirrel whose own parents rejected him, nature’s way, blah, blah. (I know that hubby is not PC, but it’s how he describes little Hammy)

We have all kinds of critters pass through or unfortunately feed in our yard, but I mostly ignore them if they ignore me. I take issue with a few like the deer feeding on my orange 🌳 or the coyotes I can hear in the distance…..now they will meet their demise if they ever get near my yard.

        • elliesmom says:

The hawks sweep down and grab baby ducks at the pond. You can see them coming, but there’s nothing you can do about it. Once they fixate on their prey, they’re single-minded about it. You sort of have to have an attitude that they’re like Doritos. There will always be more baby ducks.

  9. John Denney says:

So I’ve got this spiffy new Raspberry Pi hobby computer and I’m really enjoying it, even though I still need to figure out how to incorporate a battery (probably a “power bank”) and put all the pieces into a case.

Meanwhile, my laptop rebooted automatically to load the latest Microsoft patches, of course closing all my open apps and losing my places, which I hate.

So I go to show my wife how the new little cheap PC has instant response time after being idle all night, while the laptop has to think about it long enough to go make a pot of coffee, and son of a gun if the laptop didn’t respond immediately.

It’s like Microsoft read my gripe a few threads back and fixed it with that last bunch of patches. Too late suckers; you’re days are numbered. I’ve put up with your crap long enough, and I’m walkin’ away.

    • 1539days says:

There’s also the Chromebook. Ironically, now that my company is using a Microsoft product for ERP, it runs better over Chrome than Internet Explorer.

    • Somebody says:

John you can have a linux OS on your laptop and it will be even faster than your hobby computer. Only wipe windows off if you are out of warranty, to do so voids the warranty.

We’ve been windows free for almost two decades. Only my daughter has windows due to online schoolwork, certain aspects of classes require actual windows (linux virtual windows will not work). Anyway when you’re windows free, it’s rare to crash, you don’t spend lots of time updating, virus scans, etc., are super quick because most of the crap out there is aimed at windows.

      • John Denney says:

Thank you, Somebody. I’ll probably just keep it Windows for my favorite game that only runs on Windows.
So far on the Pi, I’ve had no performance issues.

I wonder if harry and sparkle could have arranged a slow fade. He is so far down the line that they could have gradually cut back and went on to live quiet lives of luxury. If she is just a fame junkie I think she would have served herself better by taking it slower. People get bored and move on. There doesn’t seem for me to be any mystery about her. She is no Elizabeth Taylor or Madonna. She’s a Hollywood kid so you would think that she would spend her 15 minutes more sparingly.
I read an article in which she complained that she didn’t get roles because of her skin tone. I did not once think while watching Suits about her race. It was a very slick show. Pretty people in great clothes. It is fun but vapid. She was working making 450 thousand a year. I know thousands of people that moved to New York and LA. chasing a dream of acting. I was one. You wake up one day and suddenly you are 30, 40,50. You accept dreams don’t always come true. It’s not talent. I am tone deaf but I know very talented singers that never get that break. Sparkle got bit parts on Married with Children because her father did lighting. Talk about privileged. She was working making ten times the average salary and she cries racism because the world did not fall at her feet. She literally married a prince and still she whines. I think the public is going to get over her very fast.

    • DeniseVB says:

People magazine’s cover story wasn’t too kind to them. Harry lost a lot of his friends since Sparkle started “managing” him. So he’s lost more than his title and family. I’m not buying he’s never gotten over the loss of his mother, I think Sparky convinced him she’ll end up like his mother if he doesn’t take her away from the Royal Sh*thole where nobody’s likes her. Wait til they find out, ain’t so easy in the real world either.

    • lateblum says:

Well said, Tim. Every time someone writes something intelligent and objective like ^this^ her royal-by-marriage (and conniving) personage and her husband will undoubtedly claim “racism and bias”. Sometimes, the truth and reality, hurt. I still don’t give them more than a couple of years. They managed to strike at the Royals after only 18 months of marriage and that was only a few months short of their meeting. Despite it all, I still hate to see Harry hurt because his life seems to have been filled with pain/unhappiness.
The woman is strictly a gold digger so I don’t really care what happens to her. If they do separate, she may be worth even more than married to him. And will parlay that into a life of whining and using that ultimate “insult” from the royals into big bucks.

      • Mothy67 says:

I was thinking about madonna, liz taylor, taylor swift, Melania, kim k, Princess Di, The Dolly and sparkle. You can add Jennifer Aniston and Jolie. Many others. They have always been tabloid fodder. They crafted specific images and stuck with it. Taylor (liz) had an incomparable beauty . Dolly and Madonna own their own stuff. Love or hate Madge she took control of the business side. I think swift has peaked. My 13 year old girl could not care less about her. Kim k I think is really just sticking her finger in the eye of our celebrity culture.
I think sparkle is more Pia Zadora than Cher. She doesn’t have enough gas in her tank to keep this running. Paris Hilton, who?

        • DeniseVB says:

Paris Hilton started this whole Famous for Being Famous schtick. Til Kim K came out with her sex tape. That was the game changer.

        • jeffhas says:

Surprise… apparently Paris Hilton is a talented DJ…. the highest paid DJ’s make tens of millions every year (more then most singers/entertainers)…. Paris is currently the highest paid female Dj – makes a million per night.

    • DeniseVB says:

You know what this reminds me of now. That part in Officer and a Gentleman when the girl tried to trap Richard Gere’s friend into marrying by telling him she was pregnant. It worked, he proposed, then told her he quit the Navy Pilot training program to move back to (Iowa?) and work for his dad’s JC Penney store so he can be home with her and the baby every day? She freaked and told him to f-off, she wanted to marry a pilot not some corn pone dweeb. Then he committed suicide? Yeah, that.

      Pray for Harry.

  18. foxyladi14 says:

The Articles of Impeachment are constitutionally invalid on their face. They fail to allege any crime or violation of law whatsoever, let alone “high Crimes or Misdemeanors.”

  19. SHV says:

” They fail to allege any crime or violation of law whatsoever,”
    *****
The House can impeach a public official for reasons based on however they want to define “High Crimes, etc.”; a statutory crime is not necessary. Judges have been impeached for being drunk, making bad decisions, giving bad financial advice, etc.

    • lyn says:

      The president is different.

      • DeniseVB says:

I think so. Didn’t early Americans want GW to be King of the new country? He nixed a Monarchy right away, we went Republic. Now if we can only survive the Marxist Dem invasion of fluffernutters trying to regress back to Off With His Head rulez 😀

      • lyn says:

The swamps wants to overturn the election. My question is “Who will be the first person willing to die,” if they successfully impeach President Trump.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

Does the Chief Justice have the power to dismiss? Is he a judge or a trained monkey who bangs his gavel on cue?

      • lateblum says:

I think this one (Roberts) is of the trained monkey variety.

      • 1539days says:

I think he just makes legal decisions. Whatever he decides can be overridden by 51 Senators.

      • SHV says:

        Yes and Yes…however:
” Decisions of the Chair are subject to appeal by any
        Senator.”

The bottom line is that the conduct of the “trial” is determined by 51 votes and Mitch doesn’t have a reliable 51 votes. Potentially Roberts could have the final say on issues if he votes to break tie votes. With Romney, Collins, Murkowsky in the Rethug caucus, this scenario is possible.

    • lyn says:

    • Angie says:

Judges aren’t the President of the United States of America which the US Constitution specifically says can only be impeached for bribery, treason or “other high crimes and misdemeanors” (as defined in the 18th century).

Don’t let the hack media fool you.

Best reference I have read on impeachment….”High Crimes. etc.”

“Report by the Staff of the Impeachment Inquiry on the
    Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment,
Committee Print, Committee on the Judiciary, 93d Cong. 2d
    Sess., Feb. 1974”

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/GPO-HPREC-DESCHLERS-V3/pdf/GPO-HPREC-DESCHLERS-V3-5-6.pdf

  24. SHV says:

    Another useful reference:

    PROCEDURE AND GUIDELINES FOR
    IMPEACHMENT TRIALS IN THE
    UNITED STATES SENATE

    (REVISED EDITION)

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CDOC-99sdoc33/html/CDOC-99sdoc33.htm

This is the procedure adopted by the Senate 100-0 for the Clinton trial and the format that Mitch is likely going to use this time…..I don’t think he has the votes to deviated from this protocol.

I have been considering my options for my congress campaign. This year I set the lofty goal of getting someone besides me to vote for me. Every two years my critter is either uncontested or they throw out some token. I write me in. Free college and medicare for all are taken. I am thinking free uber or demanding that all restaurants replace straws with sour apple twizzlers the fact that twizzler does not offer a sour apple option shall not deter me.i will also ban reverse mortgage commercials and jello.

    • Mothy67 says:

FYI – I am playing the long game. My eventual goal is to be dictator.

    • Somebody says:

You can’t ban jello. Have you never had a terrible intestinal flu or a colonoscopy? Have you never gotten shitfaced on jello shots? Come on man!

      • Mothy67 says:

Sorry I am going to control all things. I might not stop with jello. I very well might outlaw colonoscopies and for that matter colons. Even semi colons. I might ban punctuation. It is rayscist after all. I think people should just grunt but only in a passive way. Get rid of words they hurt people’s feelings.

So as I see it, $20 billion minimum right off the top to grease the skids to insure that contracts find their way to connected, corrupt and generally incompetent companies.
Another $billion lost to faulty bookkeeping.
3 or 4 $billion on the purchasing of substandard building materials.
Couple $billion to corrupt unions and their hierarchy.
The rest to actually build the wall then discover it it doesn’t meet specs so tear it down and start the process all over.
      Check out SecCityCop web.
New police stations that flood from rooftops, backups sewers and a prime example the 7th District station hasn’t one functioning urinals or toilets.
That is what you get when government gets involved in bs construction projects.
