The Impeachment Of Donald Trump: Kabuki Theater Or Dog and Pony Show??

If we haven’t already reached Peak Stupid with the bogus impeachment of Donald Trump I don’t think I want to stick around to see what’s next. OTOH there is no place to run and hide. I honestly didn’t think the Democrats would do it.

I assumed that the various investigations and inquisitions of Donald Trump and those close to him were just pretexts to rummage thru his life in hopes of uncovering an impeachable offense or at least some juicy dirt that could be used to embarrass him. It never occurred to me that anyone in their right mind would believe any of it.

But this impeachment trial is surreal. I cannot shake the feeling that the whole thing has been scripted in advance and we’re not gonna like the ending. I don’t trust Mitch McConnell or anyone else in Congress. At least half the country is batshit insane, and lately, I’m not sure which half that is. After impeachment we have an election coming up. Lots of opportunities for Democrats to cheat.

I will believe it is over when it’s over. Somebody is gonna have to tell me though because cuz I can’t watch television without getting triggered.

Holy crap! I’m turning into a snowflake! I picked a bad year to give up Fentanyl.

“What are we gonna do tonight?”
“The same thing we do every night, try to take over the world!”

Thank Deep State Media for their one-party bias.

  2. elliesmom says:

I think the Democrats want Trump to have to give his State of the Union address before he’s acquitted. I think they want to keep Bernie away from Iowa.

    • lyn says:

That makes sense, and that’s why I hate these deranged Democrats.

    • Constance says:

I think you are right but Trump wears his impeachment like one more bad boy badge. The Dems and elitists don’t get that. Trump voters love to watch the disdain on the faces of elitists when they are near Trump. I’m already seeing cuts of the faces of the Lib talking heads when the Senate voted not to call more witnesses. It’s hilarious. Imagine the faces and antics of Libs during Trumps state of the union. I can’t wait!

      • lateblum says:

I wonder what the faces will look like on the Sunday talkies… wish I could see them. I won’t be here. Don’t they tape them the days before?

  7. Dora says:

    Oh No!

    • elliesmom says:

Bernie’s supporters should be outraged. I hope it sinks Biden in Iowa and New Hampshire.

    • taw46 says:

Is that even true? All the talk last night and this morning is that this will be over tonight, no later than tomorrow.

      • elliesmom says:

The Democrats want every senator to have 10 minutes to tell the world why they’re going to vote the way they are. One hundred senators times 10 minutes equals around 17 hours without leaving time for the senators to take their place at the lectern and to sit back down. So at least 2 1/2 days of repetitive campaign speeches. Then they need to take the vote. So at least 3 days. Wednesday would be cutting it close.

        • taw46 says:

If McConnell loses this to Schumer, which I’m not sure he will, then McConnell should keep them all night tonight and tomorrow until they are done. 😉

        • Somebody says:

I say they give a block of time to each side. X number of hours each and they either bloviate and run out their time or they tighten up and are short and sweet…..well short anyway. Ten minutes each is a long time. Most public forums are limited to 3 minutes.

      • swanspirit says:

Ok. What is Moose Drool? Inquiring minds etc etc

      • Somebody says:

Moosedrool, my husband loves that beer. We can’t get it here. He had it when we went to Big Sky for my youngest’s dream trip.

Last time we were in OK, I found out they sell it there. My youngest and I headed across town to the liquor store that carries it. We went inside, I put a couple of cases in the buggy and the police arrive. It’s against the law in OK to even be in the parking lot of a liquor store. I almost went to the big house 🙄 Ignorance of the law is no excuse I was told as I sat in the back of the cop car.

They let me go, just had a talk with me 🙄 I was so ticked. I looked up every obscure law in OK and on our last day my daughter and I went on a “crime spree”. She thought it was so cool 😂 We did daring things like walk backwards eating a 🍔, also took a bite of each other’s burger, which is against the law in OK 😂

        • lyn says:

That is crazy! Fred Meyer sells it here.

          • Somebody says:

Total wine sells it, but not in Florida. They don’t sell it in the SE, too far for distribution. Used to be the same for Coors you couldn’t get it east of the Rockies.

        • lateblum says:

How are you supposed to get it from the store to your home? And why do they have parking lots if no one is allowed to park or be in them? There must be something I do not understand.

          • Somebody says:

Sorry brain fart. It’s against the law to even have a MINOR in the parking lot. That’s why I was in trouble with the popo. I had my daughter with me. She was in the store with me, the employees called the law on me.

Here in Florida there is a legal age as there is everywhere, but that’s to BUY liquor not to be on the property. I violated a bunch of laws in Oklahoma, criminal that I am 🙄

Then I went out and violated more. I did not emulate sex with a buffalo though, couldn’t find one 😂😂😂

          • 49erDweet says:

          • Mothy67 says:

I had da pup use my debit card to pay a few years back at the liquor store. You’d have thought I had pulled a gun. I had a ton of bags and she knows my PIN. A 9 year old was buying booze. They didn’t call the cops but did inform me I could have faced multiple charges.

    • elliesmom says:

I have a British friend I’d like to congratulate, but she was a “remainer” so I’ve not said anything. She lives in the town Doc Martin is supposed to live in, and she’s been a lot of fun to share the TV show with. I don’t want to lose her. I hope she sees this is the right thing in time.

    Robert Redfield CDC Director:
“We have done virus isolation. But I want to be clear the current tests that we developed at CDC is not we’re not sure of the natural history of how the virus is isolated. Can you isolate it one day, then, three days later, you can and we are seeing in the cases that are in the hospital. We’ve seen people had detectable virus, then they didn’t have detectable virus. Then three days later, they had detectable virus. We’re using the virus cultures right now and these individuals more to help us learn about this virus. How much asymptomatic carriage in fact is there? So I want people to understand that distinction. We’re not using it as a release criteria, because we don’t know the natural history of how this virus is secreted. And this is what we’re continuing to learn”

    • votermom says:

I’m really glad Trump’s task force is taking serious precautions
and probably the CDC is getting real info now from China

    • Mothy67 says:

I was at the hospital all day today and talked with several MDs about corona. Hell the CDC stuff was on all the screens. Only the interns expressed any fear. Seasoned docs said it will be contained in the USA. They did think India might become a real problem which was also my first thought.
Take that with a grain of salt because I had seen urgent care, ER, and a podiatrist. I was taken by ambulance from urgent care, put on an IV, heart monitors. No one would get me an ashtray. And I did ask nicely. All that noise. A shitload of keflax. They had no idea why the pain was so acute. It’s athlete’s baby toe. I had x-rays and full blood work done. Seriously the pain was crippling and it was hard to tell where it originated. I had very real fears of amputation. The very young podiatrist pulled apart my last two toes and within 30 seconds said I have a fungal infection in the tiny groove of my baby toe. The little piggy hides next to his big brother and a topical will not work because there is sweat. He said extreme pain is normal as was my entire foot burning. My body had an invader that it could not kill off. Three dollars and sixty cents for a powder and the pain is gone ten hours later. I dread the bills. The foot dude was in the same hospital as My PCP so I decided to get the flu shot. It is funny I can go to my local grocer and get a shot and get ten dollars off my next grocery bill, but I cannot walk into a clinic at a major university hospital. I had to register get my vitals and wait. I love the nurses at the clinic. When mittens was running for president. I had an event. Liver and kidneys called it a day. I began the transplant process. It was surreal. They sent me a brochure. It was like a Disney cruise guide. I thought long and hard about transplants and decided to remove myself from the list. I was mid 40’s. I had lived a life. I could not take a kidney before a kid. Just no. I use the clinic because it’s one stop shopping. I get everything done there. A few of the nurses got emotional when I said no more (a lot of nuns as it was a former charity hospital. I went to Catholic school. I was an altar boy and my name is Timothy John Cain- can you get more biblical?) . My organs are all fine. I have gallstones. They gave me 8 weeks to live in 2012? They sent in two social workers on my death bed to talk to me about quitting smoking. I had that moment from the movie Fame – the girl gets cut from a program and she is standing on a subway platform you are led to believe she is going to commit suicide the train goes by and she says fuck it I will switch to dance. I walked out of the hospital and walked home. Seven miles. I smoked walking uphill. I had six periocentisis. Two spells death. I am fine. So anyhow I pop by the clinic to get my flu shot and the nurses cried. I have no kidney or liver issues.

She did some voodoo magic. Two slices of Kraft singles, two slices of deli cheddar, half a stick of butter and two egg yolks. Stir and microwave. So yummy. It has to be black magic. She is dominican. I think she wanted to kill me. It was so good.

    • elliesmom says:

I’ve bought both an Instant Pot and an air fryer in the last year. The Instant Pot often needs to be dusted, but I’m using the air fryer a lot. Have you tried air frying canned biscuits and dusting them with powdered sugar? The grandkids think they’re making donuts. I wasn’t sold until I split them and put some lemon pie filling in them.

      • lateblum says:

Is Instant Pot anything like an old fashioned pressure cooker? My wonderful pressure cooker has somehow decided not to pressure. I changed the seal and the little pressure thing I’d on top and still, nothing. I L❤️VE cooking with my pressure cooker.
My dil suggested I look at an instant pot.

        • elliesmom says:

Yes, an Instant Pot is an electric pressure cooker. It will also saute. It has a slow cooker setting, but for that function it’s not very good. Mine will make yogurt. I like it. It’s just that cooking things you typically cook in a pressure cooker for one person means a lot of leftovers. But when I want to pressure cook, I’m very happy with the Instant Pot. I have a six quart. They come both bigger and smaller. Six is big enough for a family. The smaller one might have been a better choice. The air fryer just lends itself better to cooking for one. It’s really just a small convection oven even if it’s a basket style one. My oven is capable of doing anything the air fryer will do, but the air fryer heats up a lot faster so it cuts down on time.

          • lateblum says:

Thanks, em. I was looking at them at Target the other day. What did you choose? and Where did you shop?

          • elliesmom says:

I have the Instant Pot Duo Plus 9 in 1 6 quart. It’s $88 on Amazon, but I got mine on a super-duper sale at Williams-Sonoma for $75. They come with a variety of settings, but except for the yogurt function, you can do anything that doesn’t have its own button by manually setting the times yourself. So basically you only need to decide how big you want the pot to be and if you think you’d like to make your own yogurt. Then shop price. There are a lot of FB groups, and some of them feel almost like cults. People who own 3 or 4 of these things and use them to make things I’d never put in a pressure cooker. The air fryer people are almost as bad. But the pots do a good job, and they have safety features my old stove top pressure cooker didn’t have.

          • lateblum says:

Thanks. I just saw your response.gona take a closer look at them next week.

      • Mothy67 says:

I know it’s unhealthy but my favorite part of going to the movies is a soft pretzel no salt with that dipping cheese sauce. I have tried to buy all the version s in the store. Not the same thing. I go into my kitchen in the middle of the night and a random child wakes up from my sofa. I was like whatever vagabond do you want fries. We talked about cheese fries. Leah is Dominican. She cooked up some sauce that had to be black magic. Butter, egg yolks, chedder. Surely that is a crime. I might die if I keep eating it. So hasn’t this 13 year old killed me?

Subway Protest Takes Over Grand Central, Midtown Streets

Hundreds of protesters flocked to Grand Central Terminal Friday to protest increased policing and rising fares in New York City’s subways.

    • DeniseVB says:

    • taw46 says:

      Obama built that.

    • Mothy67 says:

How much is the subway now? It was 2.50 for a single ride when I left. A monthly I believe was 75. I thought it was an incredible bargain. You can get anywhere in Manhattan in minutes. It is much faster than a car during peak hours. I pay 2.50 here for the bus and it sucks. I took a service to my podiatrist yesterday and it was 11 plus tip. 13 minutes. I took buses home I left docs office at 1145 and got home at 1:30. I think anyone complaining about NYC subway needs to spend a day navigating public transportation in another city.
I asked my driver how much he made because I am tacky like that. I booked him through the foot doctor as the receptionist recommended him. It’s ten to park and the lot is a few blocks away so makes sense a foot doctor has a service on speed dial. He gets 70 cents a mile. Most of his fares are medicaid which covers 50 trips a year. This upstart guy connected himself to specialists and got a rapport with riders. He works for himself after hours. The riders call his cell if they need to go to Wal-Mart or visit a friend. I thought that was clever. He had gone to specialists with his card. I would have done the bus or gotten a ride. The receptionist recommended him. My appointment was for 11:15. I would have needed to leave at 8:45 to do the buses. Eleven dollars plus 5 tip was worth it. He has six kids. SIX. Provable by the Cheerios strewn about in his otherwise clean car. He said he averaged 30 an hour but only because he solicited medical professionals. I was impressed. He might have had a minute business career but he has tattoos all over his neck.

I am going to have a similar conversation with Bella and Gracie. They need to start earning their keep. I am going to put a tip jar next to my timberlands. They know when I put on the boots it’s walk time. I sit on the sofa as I put on boots and say get dressed girls. They lose their minds running around with collars and harnesses. They would put them on themselves if they could. It’s not like I don’t walk them. They are out 3 times a day but they see my boots and know it’s that time. Warm weather it’s flip flops. I wear the same shoes on walks. They know. I have a doggie door and a fenced yard they can go outside anytime but are so happy to be walked. No more until they cough up some cash.

      • elliesmom says:

Ellie gets her leash when I put shoes on. If i put on my glasses or reach for my purse, she heads downstairs to the garage. If the grocery delivery truck pulls up, she goes and waits at the front door. The FEDEX truck puzzles her. If it’s a delivery from Chewy with her dog food, the delivery guy brings it all the way upstairs to the front door, and he always has a treat for her. But if it’s not a heavy package from Chewy, the driver leaves it at the bottom of the steps. She gets all offended.

        • Mothy67 says:

Bell has been to therapists and dog school. She flunked out. I love my dog. She has a running prescription for xanex. I only use it on and around the 4th and violent storms. She was a pound reject. They had her in a cage far away from all the others. She was going down. Shay was 6 she could have had any dog she chose Bella. The people at the pound said you do not want her. My dining room and living room furniture are trashed. I cannot count how many TV remotes she buried in the yard. We stuck with her. She grew out of it. Every morning she goes to see Ori, my bunny, they play. I love my pup. I feel the quiet before a storm and the next thing I know Bella is asleep or quivering on my chest. It is spiritual for me. I guess you love dogs or you don’t.

I was votermom times a gazillion last night. Shaypup had a fever. I was Cray cray. Went to the store and bought thermometers because I did not trust the one’s I had. She never went over 101 but I was in panic mode. I became my Nanny (grandmother) I kissed her forehead a thousand times during the night — that was my drunk nanny’s thermometer a peck on my head. She threw up a bit but the fever is gone. I think it was dehydration.

That sounds scary, Tim. I remember doing that a thousand times with my kids. I was always terrified I’d missed something or they were so sick they were going to die. I’m certain the pediatricians were very tired of my fear.

Sucks donut. You never stop being afraid once you embrace a kid. You start out with SIDS, then there are sockets, table corners, SVU fears, puberty, coronavirus. You have to take a moment and pronounce yourself crazy or you will smother the brat. I am afraid of everything all the time for her. Do you know I am person non grata in the connected gay community because I expressed my misgivings about gays making babies because they were an accessory like a Prada bag. Kids suck!!! They are not something to show off at a dinner party. I have been with Shayla for 13 years. I have nothing against gays parenting. I am opinionated about manufacturing children. I am not allowed in several bars because I think children belong with a mom and dad unless they do not. Gays can raise children in my book, but you cannot make them. Shaypup was an infant born to parents that could not parent. I was there at age 40 when no one else could step up. I raised her as best I could my homosexuality was never an issue. We did craft days and I read every fucking word of Harry Potter. You have no idea what hell is until you stay up reading the Chamber of Secrets and then have to watch the movie. My kid, who is not my kid, is my hero. She rocks because She is decent. She is not a victim. Hell yeah I built that.

I’m so proud of you, Tim. I’m also jealous of the way you embraced parenthood. Much better than I. Even though we had to work for years at getting pregnant, I still didn’t come close to your dedication and involvement. I thought I had really good parents. But they were pikers compared to you. Beyond the worrying and caregiving, I’m not even in the same ballpark.

        poor shay!
        I hope she’s feeling better

KT Y says she’s been sinusy and tired- also worried here

    • lateblum says:

I woke up this morning and thought about all those poor people in Wuhan and actually the rest of China. (Probably bc I watched “American Factory” last night.) But if people here are fearful, I can only imagine what people who live in China are going through.

My grandson is in South Korea. I was thrilled about that, because it meant he wouldn’t be going to Afghanistan. Now I am worried as hell. It’s way too close to China. It never ends. Not with your children, or your grandchildren.

Thankfully the former Dems here figured this out in 2008. The DNC doesn’t give a damn about their voters or their candidates. They will always do as they please, the fix is always in, they will always manipulate outcomes.

So good to see him taking a break even though the lefty media has to pounce on him every time he does. I think Eisenhower golfed most days of the week throughout his terms, because it gave his staff a break 🙂

I think the quote goes like this.
      “So you have enemies”?
Good, that means you’ve stood up for something.

      Scene.
Bacall opens a door to leave room, turns her head towards Bogie, her hair gives a little swish.
      Line.
      Looking over her shoulder,
“Just whistle, you know how to whistle don’t you”?
“Just put your lips together and blow.
      Cut.
Ok, that’s the scene you name the movie.
Bacall was 17 at the time if I remember correctly.

It’s been a long night and day. My niece’s fiance disappeared last night. He’s not the kind of guy to just run off. She’s been frantic. He’s been found, an apparent suicide. I so want to be there for her, but there are no words, and I’m pretty wrung out. She and my daughter are close so my daughter is on her way to be there for her. She’s only 25, and I don’t how life could possibly have prepared her for this kind of a loss. Whatever demons drove him to do this, he’s at peace, but he’s left devastation behind him.
