The Ratchetization of America

Fighting Egret and Heron

A Great Egret and Blue Heron fight it out over nesting space.

Even before Establishment Dems turned a nice trick re-making Bernie Sanders into the left’s own Ron Paul, we were already on this road. This road is marked with plenty of road signs, but few exits. As we drove it we heard the crackled voices of an amplified left screaming “Koch! Koch! Koch!,” passed many a mall and state fair with mobs of angry black youth, gawked as the crowds gathered and fizzled on Wall Street, then watched as their fires spread to universities, witnessed a drive to demonize police over literal street thugs, culminating in a raucous defiance of conventional wisdom and the incineration of every shred of the media’s credibility.

Today we find we are all screamers. The mobs are ours to join. The pain and fear of lack of privilege and the difference it can make between life and death is more acutely and more broadly felt.  The lock-downs in blue states enforced by the very Police Brothers they were just demonizing could move to the red states (currently resisting fiercely), and, depending on the outcome, might be okay with the conservative citizens of said states.

This is who we are now. Eight straight years of protest training for Democrats (during a Democratic presidency, mind you) have turned the entire left into Pavlov’s dogs, who now bark and salivate at the merest hint of footsteps. And because this is difficult, we do what people in close relationships do: we all fall to the lowest behavioral denominator. Now even budget-conscience conservatives are hollering for their check.

And while you’re sleeping, safe in your disinfected homes, the darkest forces in our government, the ones who don’t like freedom, who find the everyday working person cannot be trusted with liberty, these folks are driving a huge Trojan Horse into the 2020 election.

Unsuccessful at a rogue investigation and an impeachment that was waged while the virus hazard was growing, Democrats are actively growing the panic in their ranks. They have turned the entire base of the Democratic party into those protesting college kids, angry over micro-aggressions, blowing shit up and the consequences be damned. These folks are doing it for the same reasons, too: so they could take joyrides instead of going to class, because, ya know, it hurts to be young when so many old people don’t care about your manipulations.

Remember rules 3 & 4, & 9 of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals:

  1. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
    9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.

This is still their playbook. They are still using it. And because the Democrat’s Dogs are being trained in our midst, we’re also adapting to the techniques. This first major national crisis since the 2008 housing market crisis is really showing it. And it could get worse, because the division in our politics, the willingness of one side to run the whole country off a cliff, is starkly apparent now in ways it could not be in the absence of a crisis.

Blue states are locking down their cities; red states are not. Blue states are releasing huge groups of prisoners from their jails and prisons; red states are not. Blue states are driving the media hysteria, and red states are not.  Red states are selling out of guns and bullets; blue states are not. The divergent coping skills of our two Americas could not be more apparent than they are right now.

Meanwhile, the media is deliberately working with Democrats to drive the Dem narrative. House Dems have been in hiding for a week while the Senate was in session.  Dems voted down two Stimulus packages in two days, which the New York Times reported accurately, and then changed its headline twice to appease their Dem masters. When the third vote failed again last night because Democrats loaded it up with climate change and organized labor pork, the New York Times screamed that the GOP didn’t care about working Americans.

There have been multiple reports about Senators and House members selling off stock before the stock market crashed. These stories started with GOP Senators and were flogged for days. Now it’s come out that both sides did it, but when you find an article about Democrats doing it, you must dig 6 paragraphs in to find their party affiliation. The R affiliation is always included with Republicans. See the McClatchy report below, screenshot because you know they change shit when they get caught.

AAAAAAA

Meanwhile, on the ground, facts are changing. My husband is a hospital nurse and his last shift was cancelled for low census numbers. We’re doing fine here in South Carolina. People are pleasant and nice to each other. People are hoarding toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and gloves, but everything else seems to be in stock. I know it’s crazy in NYC, LA, and Seattle, and those folks have my prayers, especially Anthony. But people forget this is a big old wide ass country. It is NOT Italy, or even Wuhan, China. Population density matters. Weather matters. We’re heading into spring and the virus dies in heat and higher relative humidity. Treatment matters. We are finding ways to treat the disease.

Our nation needs to calm the fuck down, end the 15 days at 15 days for everyone in the low risk group, but keep it in place for those in the high risk groups and their household members. That’s what Trump signaled yesterday. He’s right: the cure cannot be worse than the problem. Tanking our economy for months is not going to save us from a microbial attack.

What bothers me is that we are watching the woke media gather like those crowds of woke students did. They are surrounding leadership and ratcheting up insane amounts of pressure to drive their choices, all in the hopes that they will fail and it will devolve into a free-for-all. Or someone resigns, as many university employees, including presidents, did. We cannot allow this to happen. We can’t allow these manipulative folks to take over our country because there is a temporary crisis.

That’s what these mobs and roiling protests have done to our country. That’s what two generations of very generous welfare benefits, and regulatory capture (thank you, railroads), and corporate welfare, and all the stupid shit we’ve been doing to accommodate greed on one side and to save ourselves the pain of watching people suffer on the other, have done. We are so weak because our national habit now is to address need, not build resiliency.

This is who we are now. We’re so ratchet even the birds are fighting it out over social distancing their nests. We no longer try to negotiate our way to solutions; we just come out thumping chests, or flapping enormous wings, amplifying our way into bad choice after bad choice. It may takes a few more days, but we all getting free government checks soon. Whether we have a country left after that is anyone’s guess.

What’s it looking like in your area?

      Great post Lola!

You are correct that we are a big ol’ wide ass country. That is why I am so glad that our President is leaving it to the states, to decide what to do.
Our RINO Governor has Baltimore City to deal with, but the rest of the state is so different, and very Red, and very rural.

Ocean City, however, has it’s own unique problems, being a tourist town. We had very crowded beaches and boardwalk, for St. Patrick ‘s day, and beyond, and I really hope that the tourists from all over didn’t bring that damned virus with them, because our hospital and health care system gears up for the summer with hundreds of extra travelers, but they aren’t here now. And as for equipment, I doubt if we have what we would need, if more than a few people got sick.

The Mayor of Ocean City closed the beaches to everyone but residents. And now, Governor Hogan has closed non essential businesses, so the hotels are closed too.
And FWIW, I am feeling pretty calm.

I remember, when (shudder) Obanana was elected. I felt BAAAAAAAAAD . Horrible. As if a great black cloud of locusts were descending upon the country. It was a horrible, It was a horrible unshakable feeling, the entire time he was in office. Sometimes just hearing his voice, or seeing his picture, brings a touch of it back.
But I don’t feel that way now. I have some concern; my grandson is in South Korea. But his base is on lockdown, and he is doing fine. He tells me things are getting better there.

Overall, I have this feeling of hopeful confidence. There is a capable person in charge. My concerns, have to do with the efforts to undermine him, from the amoral people who want their power back, and don’t care if they lose lives, or sacrifice the well being of great numbers of people in this country, to get it.

      • Woke Lola says:

Hell yes, Swannie! Glad to hear everyone is holding on in Maryland. I’m glad Trump is in charge and is talking about getting people back to work. I trust him to be himself. I don’t trust the media not to sabotage every single thing they can to engineer their preferred outcome, which is tanking his election WITH the economy.

  3. Somebody says:

Randy Andy Cuomo is on TV right now doing a briefing. He has boxes and boxes of N-95 masks behind him as a freaking photo-op. What a tool.

Those should be enroute to or in the hands of frontline healthcare workers NOT stacked up for a cool backdrop. If POTUS did that the media would howl and rightfully so, but they will say not one word about St. Andy of Albany 🙄

    • lateblum says:

Saw that right before I turned away.

    • Somebody says:

Cuomo has moved into some kind of weird bargaining phase. Send New York all the ventilators, all the supplies. They’re smart, they’ll solve this and then he personally will distribute everything to others in need, once they solve their problems in NY. Just give them everything now, let them lead 🙄

NY is in fact a hot spot and deserves special attention, but they are not more important than other states or cities.

      • Constance says:

Nice post New York is completely out of control. They now have 10 times the cases and twice as many deaths as Washington. Still they should have had a plan that covered their dense population going into this and everyone else does NOT need to give up their supplies. As far as guns and ammo go, There are barely any guns or ammo for sale in Washington because the shops have been cleaned out and when they get shipments those shipments sell out in hours (faster than a shipment of TP). Yesterday there were lines longer than 4 hours to even get into a gun shop. They gave you a number and made you sit in your car until they called you. I like that the Red and Blue states have reacted differently because it will be easy to see what approach worked best when this is over. I think Trump is the best leader we could have hoped for in this situation. Also the malaria drugs seem to be putting the brakes on this pandemic panic. They are using them now while they are letting NY do the standard scientific study of them. Some Democrats fancy themselves grand manipulators but I think most are just stupid people who follow the crowd. Republicans really need to develop strategies to deal with stupid people/voters because there are a lot of them. President Trump has been the best Republican at dealing with the masses so far. He made sure they had employment and most of them will just go to work it you give them something to do. It’s important to remember half the country isn’t in a tizzy over the stock market and economic indicators because they don’t have savings or investments and having them isn’t a goal they understand. They are just worried about having a job.

        • helenk3 says:

I saw part of his spouting and turned it off. I saw the part where he was saying he only go so many masks and he should have gotten more. Well damn buddy I should win the lottery twice a week. Then don’t just talk to manufactures about volunteering to make masks and other needed stuff to fight the virus, force them to do so. Sounds a little like mussolini to me.

Things here in Virginia are pretty good. Most restaurants are only doing pickup business, but most are open for that. Grocery stores and big box stores seem to be doing booming business. Mostly well stocked except for T-Paper. People are out and about taking walks and runs, and driving around. People are keeping distance as advised, but they’re not hiding in their homes.

    • Woke Lola says:

That’s pretty much how it is. Our state parks are open to encourage stress management, with recs for social distancing while at the park are posted. We drove down to Botany Bay on Saturday and it was wonderful.

    • Constance says:

The local news keeps running features showing couples walking together in the parks but they are clearly not near other couples and the talk over says…”People are still standing too close and not following the social distancing rules!!!” Well pull your heads out media! Theses couples sleep together so they don’t need to isolate from each other. Same with parents and their kids. Meanwhile I haven’t been out of the house in over a week. Pro tip from Seattle, try on your jeans every few days, pajama bottoms don’t give you a weight gain heads up. Also my friend Joy is pretty sure the run on TP and food is because instead of 3 daily meals people are eating Breakfast, Dessert Breakfast, Morning news panic snack, Hot chocolate, Snack while staring at the wall, Lunch with small dessert, After nap lunch, Trail mix, Dinner, ice cream…… She is a scientist so she could be on to something.

Yet somehow Biden who has miles of video tape and pictures getting too close for comfort with kids, well how dare I say such a thing.

According to her POTUS dropped the ball, but Governor News on why he’s a fucking hero. He was way out ahead that’s why everything is so perfect in CA. Cuomo is impressive in NY, too bad they have to deal with an incompetent moron. DeSantis? Spectacular failure, Florida will pay the price for their stupidity.

OMFG……so can we talk about mom……oh sure, blah, blah….and another thing Orange Man Bad, we might die because of you idiots that voted for this moron……um, about mom…..oh yes blah, blah.

  14. Anthony says:

Everything in NYC is fine. There are many of us on the streets every day (about 10-20 per block), all keeping a safe distance from each other as we go about our daily lives. People are smiling, giving ‘thumbs up’ and asking “How are you today?”, even (especially?) strangers. We’re all pitching in and looking out for each other. I have a few frightened neighbors that I go shopping for, and there are many local impromptu groups popping up that are offering to help those that can’t get around very well.

We’re all in good humor, food shopping is a lot more civilized than you’d think, with the exception of a few Doomsday Shoppers and Pasta Hogs, as I referenced in a comment a few days ago. Its not as apocalyptic as the news stations are trying to convince you. Its really quite lovely. We’re being appropriately cautious, but not crazy.

And I have to say, I’m impressed with how many of us are going the extra mile to keep our neighborhood restaurants open by getting takeout and tipping insanely generously. Someone even started a go fund me page for one of our local small restaurants with funds being equally distributed among their wait staff, so their lack of tips will be replaced and they can continue to pay their bills.

Right now, I’m getting ready to go food shopping, cat sitting and then a run around the reservoir.

This is day 9 of 15, and I’m sticking to my word. On the 16th day, I’m going to ignore the alarmists. I’ve about had it… cabin fever is worse than death.

    • Woke Lola says:

Yeah, but it’s VodkaPundit reporting. Hardly a trustworthy source. Dems will have to win lawsuits to get a different candidate now. Candidacy filing deadlines, etc hamper their route to change course. They may have voter-regret now, but there’s little they can do about it short of a complete takeover of their convention.

      • Woke Lola says:

Let me qualify this as saying a nuclear option on their convention is certainly within their power and planning, and I’ve wondered for a while now if they are trying to keep their true candidate shrouded in mystery for as long as possible. So it could happen, but it is going to be chaotic and messy, for sure.

    • Miranda says:

Biden could probably be ‘convinced’ to bow out ‘for the good of the party’ with some phrase like ‘nice life, shame if something happened to it’. But Bernie and the Bros? Hoo boy.

      • Constance says:

And they are Democrats, they have no problems with neutralizing people who are in their way. They built Biden, they can take him out. Their voters are largely stupid followers and will likely follow like good little self righteous sheep, virtue signaling their luxury beliefs all the way.

        • Miranda says:

Yeah, most of the mainstream dems will probably go with it. But not Bernie and the Bros. Talk about a nuclear option!

German army loses 6 million face masks in Kenya

A German army shipment of six million face masks needed to protect against the novel coronavirus has vanished in Kenya, the defence ministry in Berlin confirms.

“We are trying to find out what happened” to the massive order of protective equipment meeting the FFP2 standard for protection against particles and aerosols, a spokeswoman says.

News weekly Der Spiegel had earlier reported that the masks went missing at a Kenyan airport at the end of last week.

It was not immediately clear why the shipment was transiting via the East African country, the spokeswoman said.

The German army’s procurement office—plagued in normal times by equipment shortages and breakdowns—is providing the health ministry with logistical support during the coronavirus crisis.

Due to arrive in Europe’s largest economy on March 20, the missing mask shipment was one of the first major deliveries needed to gird Germany’s health system for its battle against the coronavirus, Der Spiegel reported.

Life out here in the boonies really isn’t much different for me. Because I have to be prepared for blizzards, and we didn’t have one this year. I have a well stocked larder and plenty of paper goods. I haven’t even ventured out to try to buy anything in at least two weeks. Groceries coming tomorrow, I hope, because I need some eggs. Other than that, I could easily go another week. The biggest challenge for me has been being the family’s strong shoulder, the port in a storm. I’ve had a couple of small dinner parties because I know I don’t have the virus, and I’m willing to risk seeing the people who needed to come. When I’m here alone, I’m a bit resentful that I haven’t been given any space to lean on others who are close to me for at least a little while, but c’est la vie. RI seems to have the virus under control. The number of people with it grows, but few people are getting very sick. I have a trip to Ohio planned for a few weeks from now, and I haven’t cancelled it yet. I need it. I won’t be stupid, but Trump’s target date of Easter, which is sooner than my trip, gives me hope I might still get to go.

as an ex smoker who smoked for 50 years and quit cold turkey I can say that this is a bad idea during a quarantine. I was glad I lived alone during the 1st two weeks because I did not even like me. At a time when people are hyper over this virus and stuck together 24 hours a day it could lead to some domestic tension.

    just my opinion

    • taw46 says:

Just more authoritarians. How would stopping smoking today protect someone from getting the virus? I could see if someone had stopped weeks or months ago and their lungs had time to heal. This sounds like typical Dems. They want people to not smoke, so this is an excuse to force their beliefs on people. And I agree with you Helen, people have enough stress right now without adding to it.

I grew up on a farm, and we never refrigerated eggs. They don’t refrigerate eggs in Europe. The difference is whether you wash them before storage or not. If you wash the eggs, you remove some of the protective coating, and then it’s safer to refrigerate them. Store them dirty, and you can leave them on the counter, but eggs fresh from the chicken often have things on the outside of the shell that offend American sensibilities. Put a little bleach in a bucket of water to wash the egg shells, refrigerate them, and don’t use them in any recipe that leaves the eggs raw. No mousses, no pasta carbonara.

    Pandemic Nationalism

What is the point of pursuing internationalism even as an ideal, when interconnectedness itself exposes us to such serious risks?

After all, the pandemic would have been far easier to manage if cross-border trade and travel were not so pervasive—if people, all along, had stuck closer to home. These are perfectly reasonable and natural questions to ask right now. They are also questions that the Left has done its level best either to ignore or to suppress for decades.

As always, the Left has attempted to achieve its long-term ideological goal—the obliteration of nationalism and the creation of a globalist mass consciousness—in a gradual, insidious manner. In many ways, their project has been crowned with remarkable success, at least if the widespread opposition to border protection, to the enforcement of immigration laws, and to the pursuit of trade fairness and reciprocity is any indication.

The headwinds of the coronavirus pandemic threaten to derail the Left’s anti-nationalist program in a serious, and perhaps permanent, way. As Nigel Farage declared recently, in the Age of Corona, “We are all nationalists now.”

If he’s right, President Trump’s reelection prospects will start to look brighter—and the sneering know-it-alls who have shoved the E.U. and the U.N., and much else besides, down humanity’s collective throat for more than 60 years may finally be forced into a strategic retreat.

Ask people on the street what they think of globalism and you’ll get mostly negative responses. Ask the self-declared elites and you’ll get positive ones. Majority rules, right?

    That’s why elites hate populists.

Hubby asked about family, he said they’re fine but the trip really wiped his wife out she’s been doing nothing but sleeping for days 🤔 They live on the other side of the county in a small town.

He seems to have recovered, but yesterday his wife took a turn for the worse. He took her to doctor then she was rushed to hospital. The test isn’t back yet, but she’s in isolation, she fits all the symptoms of the bad Covid-19 😲😞

Hubby suggested he quarantine 🙄 in fact the entire household and maybe inform the health department. I was relieved to find out the hospital had already contacted the health department and they are all going to be tested it appears. They better be, waiting to find out exactly how this is handled.

Needless to say he’s worried sick. He can’t visit his wife, can’t be at hospital at all and she’s in pretty bad shape. There’s nobody there to advocate for her.

I felt like he had corona, but I’m not a doctor. I suggested he get tested before he left NJ. I became even more suspicious when she turned into Rip Van Winkle upon return from NYC, but I thought maybe I was just letting all the media hysteria influence me. Odds were they could have just regular flu or some other bug. I pray she’s OK.

Oh and btw, the boss lady is just a ray of sunshine. She says sorry about your wife, but since you’re quarantined and stuck at home no excuse not to work you have a deadline to meet and so expect you to meet it. Just a peach isn’t she, never asked how he was or if the family needed anything 🙄

We offered to drop off groceries for him. He thanked us, but said they’re fine. The wife loaded up right after she got back from NYC 🤔 Glad I don’t shop there, but will be an interesting experiment in contagion. This is a really small town with only 1 store. We’ll see if anybody else over there pops up with this.

One last thing, they told him it will take 2-5 days to get the results back. That’s mind blowing, because inpatient are supposed to be priority. If only she was rich and famous she could find out in 12 hours 🙄

It was difficult to read your comment. I hope that his wife recovers – and soon. And yes, if she were rich and famous or a professional basketball player. She’d get the test results in a hurry.

    • Angie says:

      Sorry to hear this story.
      Keep yourself safe.

I’m convinced my family all had it last December–we all came down with a mysterious “respiratory” illness with bad coughs, extreme exhaustion & fever but all tested negative for the flu. We got it one after the other –1st my sister in law (a nurse), then my brother, then my mom & dad & then me. The doctor told me they were seeing a lot of this repository infection but flu negative cases. He said he thought it was a kind of flu they didn’t have a test for. Let me tell you, it was the worst, most painful cough I ever had –it felt like a knife to my chest. I slept for 2 sold days –my mom was ready to take me to the hospital.
The babies (my nephews aged 7, 5 & 4), however, did not get sick at all, which we all commented on at the time because usually they are the ones who get sick first and give it to us.

      • lateblum says:

I was so sick but it was in Oct. I had a flu shot and in two days I had the worst symptoms, and thought it was a reaction to the flu shot. I’ve never had a reaction, and this was so bad that I nearly went to the MD. But I didn’t because I was convinced it was a side effect of the vaccine. It was mostly respiratory and I was exhausted. I’d take the girls to school in the morning and then go back home and go back to bed. I had symptoms that lasted nearly 3 weeks. About 6 weeks ago I spoke with at least 5 other women at the senior center who experienced the same thing around October and November. Every one of them said the same. Respiratory and exhaustion lasting weeks. The respiratory hung on for more than a month.
I was taking the grand girls to school every day because the other grandmother was on a three week vacation. The girls never got sick.

        • Angie says:

I think you had it too & we are very lucky it wasn’t worse.
I’m convinced it was in China since at least September 2019 and with travel etc. it has been here since at least October.
Chicago has a busy international airport & NOLA is a port city. All kinds of people from all kinds of places constantly passing through.

          • taw46 says:

KW had a large group of Chinese here in Dec/Jan. Like NOLA, we get international visitors from all over. We think my sister had it in January, lasted for 3 weeks, same symptoms. But neither my BIL nor I came down with it. We have several friends, including one neighbor, who had the same symptoms in Jan/Feb. I also believe it showed up in China long before December and don’t doubt some people here in the US have had it. However, I do wonder if any people had the same symptoms and were placed on ventilators? I guess it is entirely possible with medical personnel thinking it was pneumonia, since no one knew about the virus at that time. And if any died, pneumonia would be listed as cause of death.

A timeline of China’s attempts to cover-up the COVID-19 outbreak

The Daily Wire, an American news site linked to Ben Shapiro, has released a devastating timeline highlighting the attempts of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to cover up the COVID-19 oubreak. It details how the CCP tried to hid the existence of the virus through a combination of aggressive actions against their own citizens, destroying samples of the virus held by labs which the CCP didn’t directly control, detaining journalists, and lying to the World Health Organisation (WHO) about the nature and severity of the virus.

My younger brother is in “the media business”. He spends a lot of time bashing FOX so I gave him a challenge. To match person for person liberal people with regular gigs on FOX to conservative people with regular gigs on CNN or MSNBC. He actually took the challenge because loves to be able to prove his big sister wrong. What he found was there are more liberal voices at FOX than conservative voices at MSNBC and CNN combined. He also found that MSNBC hires Never-Trumpers only. Their “conservatives” are there to further their campaign against Trump. CNN actually hires some Trump supporters, but then they use most of the air time when they’re on to dump on them. On shows like “Outnumbered” and “The Five” the liberals actually get to speak their minds. So Surprise! Surprise! Little brother watched Trump’s townhall on FOX yesterday, and he admits he learned a lot from experts he had never seen before. Baby steps.

They haven’t begun (to my knowledge) to convert anything into a makeshift hospital here. It should be something they have ready to go at anytime since 9/11. Even if we are back to work by Easter there still aren’t enough beds to handle a conservative outbreak. They all get budgets. About 8 or 9 days ago, cruise ships ceased operations. Saving KW from doing it. We were still packed with spring breakers. The governor closed all bars, they were still here. The mayor closed all beaches, all restaurants to onsite dining, takeout and delivery only (before the county/governor did it). Still here. Then the mayor closed all hotels/RV parks/vacation rentals effective this past Sunday, most left. As of Monday, they closed all non-essential businesses. A few days ago, Miami closed all marinas and boat ramps because hundreds of people were going out to sandbars to party. So they started coming to the Keys. Our county closed all boat ramps and marinas to non-residents and the FWC is patrolling our sandbars where people go to party. Still we have Miami companies bringing day trippers down and people driving down. So now the Keys is closing US1 (only one way in and out) to all non-residents. Still allowing truck deliveries, first responders who live outside of the Keys, residents, a few more. We have had lots of people come down from NY who have second homes here, can’t stop them. But can stop them from letting friends use these homes. And flights still come in, but I read only about 6 people on the last one. (It only takes one 😷)

We still have just the 3 confirmed cases, although we all know that number will rise. All three are travel related (returned from Europe) and are in isolation at home. Two in KW and one at the top of the Keys. The concern here is we have a tiny hospital in KW and another small one in the middle Keys that is still undergoing repairs from Hurricane Irma. People still try everyway they can to come down here, not caring that we just don’t have the medical facilities here to treat people. I read we only have 6 ventilators here. Crazy times.

Hell we have ZERO ICU beds in my county. A larger hospital down in JAX took over our hospital a few years ago and used the allocated ICU beds, MRI, CT, etc., for the shiny big new hospital they were building on the south side of JAX.

The allocation of those are by region, we’re in the JAX region. There has been an ongoing battle between the state and this hospital since they made those moves, moves they pinkie swore they wouldn’t make 🙄

We now have a brand new hospital near the interstate that just opened, affiliated with UF Shands. It literally just opened and wasn’t included in the local hospital count, so who knows. It’s pretty small so if they have ICU my guess is only one or two beds.

If anybody goes south here, I presume they’ll be sent to JAX. That’s where our friend is. Same hospital where my daughter went through cancer treatment but on the adult side.
