Ashepoo River

Well, this is the first day of what is supposed to be hellweek with this ‘Rone Virus thang. South Carolina is sitting pretty on projections. Unlike some other areas, we are not projected to run out of beds, ICU bed, or ventilators, not even close. 442 projected dead by May, and we’re at 44 dead now. So yes, this is going to be a rough couple of weeks as some people who were infected with CV before and during the first confusing days of the state’s stay home recommendation die.

Nationally, total death projections are down as well.

Deaths total curve flatten

This curve shows that the president’s initial talk of warmer weather impacting the communicability of the disease was correct.

What’s it looking like in your area?

Interesting take. In my case what I think determines my vote so what I think is Joe can’t manage anything complex not even a complex thought or sentence. What I feel is Joe is probably a nice enough guy but it’s elder abuse to put him out as a Presidential candidate at this point in his life. Why isn’t the Leftist apparatchik who is pulling his strings standing for election and who is he?

      Next POTUS??

  2. Woke Lola says:

    Yes, this.

    • Somebody says:

I turn off Cuomo too. Before I could get the remote I heard his first little bit. He was not only talking about NY but other states, WTF enough already

    • elliesmom says:

I understand a lot of the media is headquartered in NYC. I also understand it’s a major hotspot. But as someone who doesn’t live in NYC or New York State, I don’t need the granularity of details we get from Cuomo’s daily briefings. Put him on the local channels, but 45 minutes everyday on national outlets is overkill.

  3. Ann says:

In my area, the floor of the hospital where my son’s fiancée works has been turning into a COVID-19 floor. They expect the peak here in two weeks. The country executive for Erie County (also a D) told Cuomo to GFY if you think you are taking any ventilators from WNY, he claims they are all in use.

Michelle Kwan is on Team Biden? How the mighty have fallen……

    • lateblum says:

I loved her skating. She was simply one of the most beautiful skaters ever. I’m not surprised she is team Biden. So are most of the “beautiful people” in CA. I believe 5hey like to think of themselves as lovers of humanity. They also have been brainwashed to believe the Democrats represent the weakest and most vulnerable far better than do the Republicans. At least that is what I used to believe until I figured it out for myself that they don’t. It took becoming disenchanted with the Dems because of their disregard and abuse of what real people wanted. It also took HRC selling her soul among other things to disabuse me of the idea that the DNC actually cared. I’m just sorry that so many more haven’t seen the duplicity of the Dems for what it is. I hope that someday they will allow themselves to do so.

      • DeniseVB says:

I’ve lost track of her, so had to do a wiki refresher. She always seemed to have an interest in diplomacy and politics(her studies), starting with an appt from Condi Rice, continued under Obama, Hillary, now Biden. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Kwan

Whew, I’m exhausted reading all her accomplishments since she was 5. Also forgot all that juicy, gossipy ice stuff in between. 🙂 (I forgot she replaced Kerrigan on the Olympic team after the knee whacking, then didn’t because Nancy’s boo-boo knee got better, lol, poor kid, she earned that spot at Nationals).

      • taw46 says:

I loved her skating, it was beautiful. No one like her. But she has been a democrat for a long time. So not surprised she is supporting Biden.

        • DeniseVB says:

I guess I was surprised she’s working for him, but that’s how you get appointed as an Ambassador, whether or not Joe wins, she’s embedded in the DNC now, and she’s young enough, (only 40 in July) there will be plenty of opportunities, maybe even a run for Congress 🙂

    • Mothy67 says:

Didn’t one of the msm commentators say Doctor Jill Biden would make an excellent Surgeon General. She has a doctorate in education!!!!!! But okay they ridicule Dr. Carson???
      I hate progs.

Seattle is having a beautiful run of fabulous weather so people are in great moods. Thank God our governor, who is an idiot, only talks on TV every 2 weeks. ML King County, where Seattle is, seems to have Covid-19 in control. They are taking down the Medical tent facility that the Feds set up for us and as far as I can tell we never used it. Our state just sent 400 unused ventilators back to the Feds. Restaurants and bars are still closed but I know young people are getting together in groups at homes and at parks. The PTB have been flying drones over public spaces to film, they have been drawing circles around each person and calculating the frequency that the circles touch then bitching about it on the news. But the parks in Seattle were designed by Olmstead so the trees are all old and while there is open space it has tree cover from above. So they can’t film the groups of kids in those parks only the beach parks are filmable.

    • Woke Lola says:

Love Olmstead’s work. Spent the second half of my childhood in Louisville, KY, where he created a massive park system joined by parkways. It’s lovely.

  6. Mothy67 says:

We had another 40 since yesterday. Down from I think 50. I don’t know how far the tests are behind. We have a big medical center here and it’s not as congested as the Eastern half of the state. I have had the girls out for 2.6 miles according to my phone app and I always walk into someone’s driveway when someone approaches. I have yet to see someone afford me the same courtesy. I do not wear gloves or a mask when walking dogs. I did when I went to the store. I’d say 50% had on something protective or tried to do distancing. Discovered you can use frozen bread to make pizza on a stone. I have a bread machine so I could make dough as easy as mac and cheese, but store has no yeast. A large pie costs about 4 dollars at home. A large pizza with half extra cheese half onions, peppers and extra cheese costs with delivery almost 20 plus tip.so 25. I was doing pizza three times a week. 12 vs 75. I find it not quite as good as the best local but superior to chains. I tried it on a cookie sheet because I only have one stone not as good. I buy jarred sauce and add seasonings.

    • elliesmom says:

Here’s recipe for pizza crust without yeast. It’s different than regular pizza dough, but it’s good. There used to be a chain in the Chicago area called Barnaby’s that made pizza crust like this. I liked it. Elliesdad didn’t. but Pepe’s in New Haven is the only place in the country we both thought the pizza was really good. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/244638/no-yeast-pizza-crust/

      • Mothy67 says:

She likes using frozen bread dough for now. She wants to do league volleyball. The fees are a little over 2,000 which is not extreme, but hotels and transportation can amount to three times that. I can save 200 a month on delivery it’s doable. Almost 14 years ago I thought I had enough to live modestly and work part time. Bwahahahahahaha.

    • John Denney says:

Yeast disappeared from grocery stores here, too. I used my last 1/4 tspn to make a starter, which I’ve been keeping alive.
About a half cup each of water and flour plus 1/2 tspn sugar plus a little yeast. Keep it on top the fridge where it’s warmer. Once it’s all foamy use half for bread and replace half with more flour, water, and sugar.
You could probably use some of the frozen bread to get it going, since the bread probably has live yeast in it. A teaspoon maybe, thinned out with water to a thick paste to stir into the starter.

Chloroquine is cheap. Maybe 50 cents per person for the entire treatment. That is why it opposed by drug companies and FDA bureaucrats who serve as bribed gatekeepers for the drug companies. The Media Cartel oppose chloroquine because they profit from drug company advertising so they prefer a drug that costs $2000. per person. Trump is disrupting the profits of a major cartel.

    • DeniseVB says:

If that’s the malaria drug, my dh was popping them like tic tacs in VN. Hope that means his immunity is pretty strong 🙂

      • Woke Lola says:

Tell him to be careful. There can be side effects related to irregular heart beats, especially in elder patients. That’s why I support Trump’s recommendation, as long as it’s doctor prescribed.

        • DeniseVB says:

Back in Vietnam, about 50 years ago, he was required to take them as a preventative, he’s hoping he took enough then to be immune 🙂

          • Woke Lola says:

That’s not actually how it works. Usage that old will not be effective, or likely even present in the body anymore. What it does is reduce the extreme inflammation that allows the proper environment for the virus to thrive. For those that have it in their lungs, it also reduces the extreme overreaction of the immune system within the lungs. The z-pack is to control emerging pneumonia that is usually the killer in end stages of this disease.

          • DeniseVB says:

I was trying to clarify a snark, sorry for the confusion. But the extra info helped ! Dh won’t take a vitamin supplement unless his doctor okays it 🙂

          • Woke Lola says:

Okay. Relieved. I didn’t see the humor, but I have high stress right and I’m a literalist, so not surprising. Glad to hear he’s good. 🙂

I have a general question. Can you still be tracked if your cellphone “location” is disabled?
I just received this in my email:

Google is tracking people using cellphone locations and movements to monitor how well people are complying with stay at home orders.

    • Mothy67 says:

Patch is perhaps the worst of them all. They are distorting everything about corona because they cater to local communities in theory but in reality just copy and paste msm headlines with a dash of honest local interest. It’s a fraud. Mine said dramatic rise. The # is down two days in a row.

      • lateblum says:

I’ve noticed the conglomeration of headlines in Patch. Thanks. Can you answer my question about disabling the “location” on my phone? I’d like to think we haven’t yet reached the time when we are all under surveillance.
On my way to the pharmacy+y to pick up bp meds. Just in case anyone asks… /s

    • Somebody says:

Yes they are. I haven’t shared and it’s too long to go into all the details, but my mom isn’t where I was told she is. I didn’t find this out until Friday night late. She will be moved there April 10th. She is currently in an apartment, an “independent” living apartment complex for seniors, where the company does maintenance, cleaning service and provides meals
No medical services if those are needed resident hires someone, which apparently my sister has hired a series of people.

I don’t know why she couldn’t have been at her own house, except this is closer to my sister. My sister didn’t tell us exactly where she was because she didn’t want us going there and possibly exposing mom to covid-19, but hiring a series of total strangers apparently isn’t an issue because they are “professionals”, nevermind they’re are in and out of sick people’s homes 😡

There is so much more, as I said I’ve been dubbed the culprit and I had nothing to do with this and quite frankly I don’t know what is the truth any more.

Anyway if we want to see mom we have until Thursday. We (my brother and I) were told Fri night, but didn’t get exact location until Saturday afternoon. I wanted to go yesterday, part of the fight hubby and I got into, really the main reason he was dragging, excuse making, etc. In the end his spidey senses turned out to be correct. I would have been walking into a trap.

I put the address in Google maps to find this place and big brother told me I wasn’t supposed to be going that far from home. Gave me a Covid-19 warning and stay at home order and another warning about the place because of it being a senior community.

I still haven’t made up my mind what I’m going to do, but if I do go I know I won’t take my phone.

    • 1539days says:

Cellphone location is just a tool Google uses for mapping. If the GPS chip is powered, then your location can be read. That’s part of metadata. In fact, if your phone didn’t report its location, you couldn’t use it for calls. In an Android phone, you can pull the battery and take it with you in case of emergency. If it’s an iPhone, you’d have to put it in a damn metal cookie tin in order to shut it up.

NC is well under current projections, which doom & gloomers say means that our peak will be later, and we will be over capacity if the stay-at-home order is lifted April 30. ::eyeroll:: Hope? Us? NAH.
The IHME model said there would be 1300 hospitalizations last Sunday, when there are actually 270.
I went the grocery store and used a heavy-knit infinity scarf over my mouth and nose to make people feel better, but mask usage was only about 50%.
