Amy Coney Barrett has knocked my socks off. Dana Perino said it was very apparent what a wonderful teacher ACB must have been because we all learned so much the last two days. I couldn’t agree more. I was out most of yesterday, but today was a rainy day. I put the TV on expecting it to just kind of play in the background, but I’ve spent most of the day really watching it. It’s too soon to get complacent because the Democrats usually save their hit job for after the nominee is passed out of committee. We’ll see, but my money is on Barrett holding her own.

I was very nervous for her as Booker started in his race peddling bullshit. She lost her resting bitch face for a minute as she looked horrified as he tried to twist a ruling she made about an en banc panel request as some kind of denial of implicit bias. She rallied and gave a great answer on the difference between en banc requests and findings on merits. Fuck Corey Booker, the little Bat Boy.

I cannot say how I admire ACB and her composure and ability to remain affable and confident throughout Whitehouse and Feinstein and whoever this morning’s haranguers were before lunch. They somehow seemed to forget that yesterday she said she owned a firearm.

Just returned from volleyball. It’s a small district with 2 grade schools and until this year a Catholic school. There have not been many problems over the years.
I couldn’t help, but reflect on how adjusted these kids are. Most are 15/16. (Da pup was at the wire to start kindergarten so she is 14) Sports starting at a young age, in my opinion, is the best we can do for kids. They learn so much about themselves by being active in their own lives. Some suck, but they hang in there. Miriam speaks three languages fluently. So she isn’t very good at sports – she still plays even if it means sitting on the sidelines the whole game cheering on her friends.
Hollywood always depicts the pretty girl and the jock as cruel, stupid, bafoons. While the nerd or the chubby girl has a heart of gold.
I was a sick kid so athletics were not a part of my world. I know what it is like to be trapped in a sickly body and I made sure Shay was going to know herself. We started young with ballet and tae kwon do. Her first day at softball she had tears in those eyes- wanted to quit. I said you signed up you finish. You do not have to play next year but u will complete this season. I have seen so many parents never take a stand with kids. Had I let her drop out where would she be now. Things don’t go your way– you quit? I didn’t know then that she was going to become an athlete. Lordy, the money. It never stops.
Anyhow my point is watching these young lasses that I have known for ten years and seeing how healthy they are of mind, body, and in friendship I thought about the bile of the female senators today. Feinstein with a back handed compliment about ACB mothering while intimating she lacked integrity as a woman. She was attempting to bring shame on her from the church of abortion.
They say ( who “they’ are I am unsure- i heard it’s a small family that sit around a fire just saying things we can quote) that DC is hollywierd for ugly people.
It sure strikes me as green with envy.
Some of the kids are driving. Fills baby girl with joy to go to pizza after a game at a seniors house. I was watching how they engage one another. Some in Shay’s grade are two years younger than Andy Tifa peaceful protesters. Twelth graders are tear down monuments age. It hit me that sooooo much that is wrong is pure envy. Antifa, Feinstein, senator from Hawaii. Jealousy.
I do not see one of the girls going dark.
They are connected. You have to be connected. My former bff went after me about ACB’s and my Catholicism with venom. I knew while we lived together way back she chose 3 abortions. I never said one word. Nothing. I adore ACB . i didn’t even contact the old friend — she felt the proggie need to say she hopes Shayla gets pregnant. They are a lovely bunch. That was simply the veil slipping. My brat should be pitied. Mom had frequent flyer miles to psych wards, dad in and out of jail. A little girl meant to be raised by the state. She got a great grandfather with COPD in a hover around coaching softball, a great gay uncle who can barely tie his shoes on a good day. Oh my eliist friends wanted to show that oh poor thing some “generosity”.
My monster is excelling on all fronts. They get angry with me for giving up 14 years to stand by and with her. Pup is not medicated. I can see how some young adults end up wanting to join Andy Tifa. They are seriously drugged from a very young age. No one dedicates themselves to them. Pills, pills, pills. Kids are labeled as defects at 12 when they naturally push boundaries. Dope em up. No wonder they hate.

I was thinking about Aaron Schock and Ilhan Omar.
Aaron used campaign funds to decorate his office like it was Downton Abby. He voted against some lgbtq stuff. Can we pause and for a second look at what his job/title was? He was representing his district – not his personal feelings. He was REPRESENTING. He voted against the mob, but repped those who elected him.
He was destroyed. Had to quit or go to prison for campaign finance stuff. He was attacked for being closeted. WTF? His votes were consistent with his constituents. He was not elected to scream I’m queer. He was elected to stand for the people who voted for him. He was destroyed. Ilhan gets to just skate by.

    • 1539days says:

Had to spend the last hour and a half in ER. Kids went out after vball game to a house with no parents. There was pot and booze. One girl passed out and ambulance followed by police. Cops gave me no issue, but suggested a drug screen at the mini hospital literally across the street. I am not legal guardian, but I plead is this little girl lost. I wanna fix this now. I ain’t sitting on the sidelines. He said she had tops two drinks and a few tokes of pot. I said why are her eyes so red and glossy. He said she has not stopped crying becsuse she let me down.
I get let into ER. Way against regs. I have no custody. Brat needed me there, but once I was there rubbing her shoulder and telling her tomorrow we could talk but just rest tonight all she wanted to talk was about a boy. I said tomorrow.
Trust me. Shayla Rayne matters to me. I done did royally fucked up at her age. I was just a hair off 16 when I i took my SAT’s. I had been out drinking and snorting and having a party. I got ivy league scores. Huh?
I had an outhouse. So much worse.
Shayla Rayne might may stumble I am gonna catch . Always.

    • Swan Spirit says:

The first time my granddaughter went out “drinking” when she was a teenager, she got so drunk she was throwing up, and was miserable for days. I reminded her to just be grateful no one videoed it. It seemed to help. Kids make mistakes, it’s how they learn, but when they have loving parents there to pick them up, dust them off and let them know they are loved, it makes all the difference.

    • elliesmom says:

I have a suggestion. I totally agree that our kids should know they can call us from anywhere for any reason and we’ll come, and at that point in time their safety is more important than anything they may have done. But in the cold light of the next day, there has to be a serious discussion of what happened the night before, and there needs to be some consequences. I’ve found with all of the kids, both mine and other people’s put in my care, the best consequences are the ones they choose themselves. It doesn’t have to be punishment. Maybe it’s a pulling back of some freedom until she’s more able to handle it. Checking in with you more often when away from home. Only being able to hang out with some of her friends, the ones she was with last night, for example, under your watchful eye. Give her permission to make you the bad guy. “I’d like to do that, but Uncle Tim would kill me.” While you might think Shay is an influence other kids in her life need, the bottom line is that as her guardian angel, she’s your primary responsibility. She doesn’t get sacrificed for any other kid’s benefit. And speaking of being a guardian angel, you need a limited power of attorney that lets you take her for medical care and accompany her to a police station. Parents gave me that as a Girl Scout Leader taking kids camping out of state. You should have no less.

    • elliesmom says:

Our kids need to know they can call us at anytime from anywhere, and we’ll come. No judgment, just to take charge and help. But the next day, there needs to be consequences. Not punishment, but a different set of guidelines so there’s no repetition. It’s best if the kids think they’ve designed the new guidelines mostly themselves, but if they don’t cooperate then there needs to be intervention. A party that ends up in the ER is very serious. That’s how teens end up dead. Maybe it’s changing the list of who is trusted to see Shay gets home and who isn’t. Maybe it’s no visiting anyone’s house unless a parent has confirmed he or she will be at home. Maybe it’s a cellphone check-in with you every hour. Maybe it’s different friends if it happens again. It’s wonderful to be the person a kid relies on to pick her up when she falls, but someone has to take responsibility for making sure she’s not going to take a fall that kills her. Even the brightest teenager is capable of doing crucially stupid things. Only the ones who survive get bragging rights. When I took other people’s children camping out of the immediate area, parents gave me a power of attorney that let me take kids to the ER or accompany them to a police station. You need at least that.

WordPress is acting funny for me this morning. Admins- you can just leave prior attempts at my replying to Tim in the circular file. If this doesn’t post, I give up. 🙂

      • Mothy67 says:

She is still asleep. I was sitting in a pub in London many years ago. There was a limited young woman who kept playing ” I’ll Stand by You”. She was retarded. I acted out with maybe a bar stool against my head was a silly choice in a pub. I’ll stand by you lives within in me

        • elliesmom says:

I don’t disagree with the idea of being the person who “stands by”, but there also needs to be someone who sets limits. It’s very possible to be both. But when you go to the funeral for young people who were “just being kids”, there’s never anyone there saying, “I wish I hadn’t set so many restrictions” of “if only I had let him get drunk with his friends and not said anything”. It’s always “If only we had said no when they asked” or “Why didn’t we see how destructive this behavior was?” There is no sadder responsibility as a teacher of teens than to show up at one of their funerals. A 14 year-old in an emergency room over drinking and drugging needs to be stopped in her tracks. Today. Not after the next time or the time after that. Because you’re lucky to have today. A lot of parents never get a second chance to say no to their child.

          • lateblum says:

EM and swannie are right. Listen to what they say.
My kids know that is what I’d did as a parent. And they knew that no matter what, I’d be there to take/bring them home and I’d would also set the limits.
I used to say, “Tell them your mother said, No.” or “Feel free to blame me.” The first (and only) time my son did ‘shrooms, he ended up outside in below freezing cold weather and passed out. They called me and I got him home. If they hadn’t called, he might’ve suffered more than just being cold. The kids – his friends – knew me and knew how I would handle it. So did my son. Thankfully, they trusted me rather than feared me.
Just the other day, my son thanked me for the limits and the love. It brought me to tears.
Dd#1 says she judges her friends who are parents, as well as people she sees oit with their kids, against how I parented and finds them wanting. She might not have said it when she was 15/16. And she was quite the rebel. But she knew she was always safe with me. Always.

So far all I’ve seen are a bunch of accusations. The word of two supposed whistleblowers. Some have claimed to have been shown transcripts of phone calls.

Color me unimpressed. If you have recorded phone calls release them. I can write a transcript of a phone call with Obama and Jimmy Hoffa, doesn’t mean it’s real.

I’m from Missouri on this one, show me. I don’t care to traffic in rumor or innuendo. I don’t like it when Schiff and company do it to POTUS either.

I believe it’s possible parts of this or maybe even all of this is true. However, if someone has evidence of such truly aggregious acts then they should put it all out on the table and let the chips fall where they may. Unless and until I see concrete evidence, not he said-he said, actual evidence, I will take these “bombshells” with a grain of salt

It is the morning after my brat’s first real excursion into the badlands. I am not at all shocked or apalled that a teen went to a party. I was hanging out in the “cut” smoking dope at her age. I am not thrilled. Baily could have died. She eats a ton of pills for anxiety or what ever they dope kids up with these days. Booze did not mix. Ambulance on the scene. Ugly.
I love my mom, but there is a yuuuge reason I stuck around after Shay was out of diapers. That bitch is crazy. She loves but she is absurdly judgemental.
We did not speak for almost 20 years because I am gay. She stayed at the hospital back in 1970 when I was doing that death drama. Not once did she leave. Back then you got 15 minutes on the hour. Sharon was there for every minute. I lived by some sort of grace. The odds were 99% saying good bye to me. ACB reminds me of younger days. There was little chance of me making it to adulthood. I had one seriously fucked up ticker. My 10th grade mom took me to it all. She was a lioness protecting doing what she could anything and everything she could. They were called charismatic Catholics back then. I had those hands all over me, speaking in tongues.
Wanna talk freak show. I am going to be 54 in January. My life expectancy was age 12. I should have severe retardation. I am the oldest person ever surviving with pig valves. They last max 12 years– mine will be 50 come June.
My mom was ashamed of me when I told her I was gay. I was going to embarass her. I left my everything behind. She is amazing but she can also be a cunt. I is not ain’t playing with my baby girl. To quote that sage of sage of sage’s Barry Manilow – I Made it through the Rain. I could make my Shay read Of Human Bondage. I love the novel. I do not want to reside there. I sure as fuck do not want my crud registering to vote in from that place. Buttercup is going to reflect. My job is to let her see her. Sharon, my mom has a crush on Genell.

The latest leftist theology is that if one is opposed to socialism/communism, then one is a fascist.
(Although it could be that I’m slow and just now figuring this out.)

The faulty logic is that since fascists fought socialism, anyone fighting socialism is a fascist.

Someone on Twitter tried that on me, so I asked, “Since Muslims have attacked socialists, does that make me a Muslim?”

He gave me the simple classical explanation of why that would be a fallacy, to which I responded, “Exactly.” Therefore, one can oppose socialism and not be a fascist.

I made it clear that I stand for Liberty & property Rights, which have many enemies, including fascists, socialists, & communists. He argued that some in fascists countries were allowed Liberty & property. Duh!! Being “allowed” is not Liberty! Thomas Jefferson stated that Rightful Liberty is the free exercise of the will, bounded only by the Rights of others.

CHIP is more comprehensive. Covers eye and dental. The state has a very generous medicaid system. You broke they got u. My niece, Shay’s aunt, was making 15 an hour when she had John. She was given full coverage. Oddly she had to get the bills first, but retroactively everything was covered and she got to keep it.

I was young then. 750 out of pocket was/is cheaper than having o care. My deductible was 2000 when I had shitty insurance. I was better off taking in my pay stubs than having bogus insurance.
