Whoever Wins Next Week, Expect Violence

Expect violence by the Left, and expect them to blame Trump for it.

This turdpile is from Peter Aldhous at Buzzfeed News:

This Scary Statistic Predicts Growing US Political Violence — Whatever Happens On Election Day

Two researchers claim that a single number they call the “political stress indicator” can warn when societies are at risk of erupting into violence. It’s spiking in the US, just like it did before the Civil War.

Many Americans are clinging to the idea that if Joe Biden wins the presidential election, calm can return to a nation riven by protests and rattled by President Donald Trump’s authoritarian rhetoric.

Not so fast, caution two academics who claim they have devised a measure of political instability that shows that the nation will still be a powder keg that is waiting to blow, even if a Biden landslide means that Trump has little choice but to step aside.

A Biden landslide????

If (when) Trump wins there will be violence by the Left. They are openly admitting that they plan to riot. But what if Biden steals the election?

If the election is close and Biden is declared the winner but there is evidence there was substantial fraud and cheating, there could be violence by Trump supporters. No matter how egregious the fraud and cheating, the news media will treat it like they are treating Hunter Biden’s laptop.

But what if Biden won fair and square in a landslide?

Stop laughing. If there is no proof of significant cheating and Biden wins then Most Trump supporters will accept the result, but they won’t be happy about it. The Democrats are another story.

Ever seen a sports franchise win their first championship in decades if not their first-ever, and then that team’s fans celebrate by going on a rampage of looting and burning? Ever heard of Kristallnacht? An apparent landslide victory for Gropey Joe would be treated as a green light to go after Trump supporters by the thuggish Left.

Turchin raised warning signs of a coming storm a decade ago, predicting that instability would peak in the years around 2020. “In the United States, we have stagnating or declining real wages, a growing gap between rich and poor, overproduction of young graduates with advanced degrees, and exploding public debt,” he wrote, in a letter to the journal Nature. “Historically, such developments have served as leading indicators of looming political instability.”

Today, with the nation in turmoil, Turchin’s prediction seems remarkably prescient. We live in a pandemic hellscape that has disproportionately harmed Black and brown Americans and those living in poverty. We have widespread civil unrest over racial injustice. And we are hurtling toward an election in which Trump is stoking unfounded fears of voter fraud and refusing to commit to a peaceful transition of power.

In August, Turchin gave himself a pat on the back for his predictive ability with an analysis showing a significant rise in political demonstrations and violent riots over the last 10 years. But he and Goldstone fear that much worse is to come.

Other social scientists consulted by BuzzFeed News were skeptical that the US is on the brink of a civil war. But they were concerned about the trends highlighted by Goldstone and Turchin, and worried about the potential for violence around the coming election — especially from right-wing militia groups if Trump loses and contests the result.

“No matter what the outcome is, it is going to be disputed by some components of the other side,” Craig Jenkins, a sociologist at Ohio State University who studies political violence, told BuzzFeed News. “The difference is that the Trump forces have militia that have some capacity for violence and mayhem.”

Hmmm. Three mentions of militias, two of which add “right-wing” in front, and another mention of “right-wing militants, but not one single mention of our largest and most active domestic terrorists, Antifa. The author mentions Trump’s alleged refusal to promise to accept the ‘official results’ of an election that hasn’t even happened yet. He makes no mention of the Left’s four-year failure to accept the results from 2016.

Nor does he mention that 95% of political violence in America today emanates from the Left.

Conservative pundit Bill Mitchell has been permanently suspended from Twitter, the social media platform confirmed to The Hill on Saturday.

“[Mitchell] has been permanently suspended for violating the Twitter Rules by using one account to evade the suspension of another account,” a Twitter spokesperson said in an email.

Mitchell confirmed the suspension in a post on the social media app Parler, though he asserted he was booted from Twitter over his stance on wearing a mask amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Is it PA or are store hours abbreviated everywhere? I can make no senseof it. Why does a pizza shop close at 10 with delivery stopping at 9. Pizza is that thing you order later at night. I guess the dominoes can serve to 11 because they have no indoor seating. I buy my mouth products from walmart. Stuff is half price compared to Rite Aid. I love the two for ten pro enamal. It was always 24 hours. I went to get ink a bit back. It closes now at 10. My grocer closes at 9. Liguor store at 8. Pizza and other food 10. Bars 11 is last call and u have to be out by 12.
Am i just crazy or does shortening hours mean more people in the store? I buy my rabbit food at Wallyworld. Her ( not sure about gender) is three dollars cheaper there than PetSmart. I always stock up so I did not know about covid hours. Our superstore had a very nice grocery department. I am no longer going there. It has to be hurting them across the board. Why would the liquor store need to close an hour earlier. I have lost a chunk, but thankfully I got out of most of my investments a year ago. I might have to get one of those things people call a job. I worked from 16 to 40 something sometimes 7 days a week all day. I put in 15 hour days. It was investment. Now a lot is gone. I bit my lip about my own shit, but seeing these silly rules pisses me off. How does forcing a pizza shop to close at ten fight covid? I wanted a gyro and vegan shay a melted cheese disaster she always gets. Nothing open. I had to do dominos. This has been over 7 months. I made my trillions in small businesses. I don’t see how you can open the door in this environment. 25% capacity will not even cover utilities. Where are they leading us, by they I mean dimocrats. My last count had 11 shops close for good. How will that tax flow be replaced? A town of 10,000 can’tlose 11 stores. It will be higher taxes and less employment. Some of the shuttered employed those very needy. I have a neighbor who was working 2 days a week at the chocolate shop. She is I think late 70s only has social security. She was able to earn 600 a month in walking distance. Now its gone. Little places allowed people like her to have some dignity. She has no choice but to sell the home she has had for 50 years. Do reverse mortgages cover taxes? She owns her house. It is the taxes that kill you here. I am moving the day Shaypup graduates.

Out here in the boonies nothing is open after 9 pm. They roll up the few sidewalks we have. We’re lucky they don’t turn off the street lights. Wait, I don’t have any street lights on my street so I don’t really know if they turn them off where they have them. Maybe they do. There’s one restaurant that stays open until 10 pm on a Saturday night.

    • Somebody says:

Hours are shortened because it is a way to save a few bucks for the stores or restaurants. They are all struggling and trying to stay open, so they nip at their hours to save employee wages and maybe a bit on electricity. I assume they know their busiest hours.

Once your state is fully open again the businesses will return to normal hours, but not immediately. We’ve been open here in Florida but our stores just returned to normal hours in mid September. I live near the Georgia state line, Georgia opened up fully in May, mid summer their store hours were back to normal.

It all correlates with the lock down measures in the state.

      • elliesmom says:

Where I am, it was the norm before the pandemic. Farmers just go to bed ealier, I guess, and they don’t go out much on a week night. Most things here are either open the same hours as they always were, open by appointment only, or shut and shuttered.

All I can hear is ” subtle whoring” I wish I had written those words! Subtle whoring is most of the press. Some may dismiss but I think putting a string of letters together in unique ways makes a writer. I am a confessed asshole but try and look at Anderson Cooper and not think about ” subtle whoring” i would have died laughing if corona had not already killed me. String of letters let us try bill. I lived and I learn because Shakespeare wrote when in disgrace. The sonnet goes on. I needed those three words.

I found the word penumbra one day, I needed it desperately. I got a little bitch who drives me nuts almost everyday. She is my best friend. I don’t have time to resurrect what may or may not have happened a long time ago. He had his time with me. I am still alive. He is dead. I am able which is ironic cause last name is Cain to make sure my brat is safe.

I will go right after I vote. I AM voting.

Helen Raleigh is one of my favorite authors. I read her book, “Confucius Never Said ” about her experience in Communist China. This article is a short, succinct, and excellent read. She outlines what really needs to happen to Google, Twitter, and Facebook, and what the results would be.

    1. Breaking Up Big Tech
First, the U.S. government should break up tech companies that have near-monopoly power. For example, Google controls more than 90 percent of the U.S. search market. About 85 percent of smartphones worldwide run on Google’s Android operating system. Google also collects one in every three dollars spent on digital advertising.

Google maintains that it achieves such domination due to the superiority of its products. An antitrust lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice last week, however, alleges that Google engages in anti-competitive practices to achieve and maintain its near-monopoly, such as paying billions of dollars to “distributors like mobile-phone makers, wireless carriers and web browsers to make Google their default search engine.” These exclusionary contracts have made it next to impossible for smaller competitors to gain any meaningful market share.

Moreover, Google uses its market dominance to serve as the world’s biggest censor. According to professor and researcher Robert Epstein, Google maintains at least 10 blacklists it uses to block websites, individuals, and even words. Robert wrote, “When Google’s employees or algorithms decide to block our access to information about a news item, political candidate or business, opinions and votes can shift, reputations can be ruined and businesses can crash and burn.”

Cuomo Got Big Bucks From Groups Lobbying for Killer Nursing-home Order

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose order forcing nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients is likely responsible for thousands of deaths in those facilities, issued the order at the behest of organizations that have contributed millions of dollars to his campaigns.

In fact, an audit of Cuomo’s campaign donations by OpenTheBooks.com shows a “systematic pay-to-play culture in Albany,” OpenTheBooks.com CEO Adam Andrzejewski told the New York Post’s Miranda Devine. The clear connection between campaign contributions and political favors reveals “a legalized money-laundering scheme aimed at monetizing incumbent political power,” he added.

I voted last night. There were so few people there that I walked in, signed my name, and voted. No wait, no lines, no nothing. I had already tried last week, but the crowds were huuuge. Of course I hadn’t tried at 6:30 in the evening before. Maybe voting after dark here is the answer.

    • Miranda says:

NC’s getting a positivity surge (almost 11% today), and I’m wondering if the early voting lines with people waiting hours are the cause. We early voted in the late afternoon a couple of days ago and had no problems. Less than 10 minutes from getting in line to voting.

  39. taw46 says:

I voted today. I always like to vote on Election Day, but started thinking, what if I get sick? Not taking any chances, lol. It was easy, I probably waited about 5-10 min due to social distancing of voters. TRUMP 2020!

    • elliesmom says:

Congratulations! My ballot was marked “Accepted” today. I did the mail-in to help my local senator collect the data she’s looking for, but I expected I wouldn’t keep voting by mail after this. The big downside to it that I can see is from the day my application for a ballot was received by the state until full acceptance was 28 days. I didn’t sit on the ballot once I received it. It came on a Friday and I sent it off on Tuesday because Monday was a mail holiday. There was nothing that was going to happen to change my vote to Biden, but I had to vote before the debate to be sure my ballot was ready to be counted. At this point it’s only 3 business days before the election. I’m going to assume there was no urgency to move my ballot through the system, and a ballot sent in later would move faster, but it is only an assumption. I think in the future I will request the mail-in ballot again, and if I’m not the least bit undecided, mail ii in in a ample time. If I want to wait to the last minute to vote, I’ll still be able to hand deliver my ballot to the polls on election day.

    • lateblum says:

That’s the same reason I voted last night. I do like to vote on Election Day, but I’m spending many close-up and personal hours with Calamity, her #1 sister and their little friends who are “in school” with them and after Calamity said she had a sore throat and headache yesterday, I thought I should go to vote sooner rather than later. Since PDJT has little to no chance of winning Illinois, I’m just as excited to have voted against Kim Foxx and against Dick Durbin.

I dropped off our ballots yesterday. On HWY 140 today, a rancher had a huge Trump/Pence sign and a huge American flag on his elevated irrigation pipes.

(Went to Medford for my eye appointment. It’s healed, but a nasty cataract developed as a side effect. Have to have that removed soon.)

      • lateblum says:

So, a mixed blessing. It seems the worst is over and your eye is healed. I haven’t had cataract surgery (much as I might wish I had) but the people who I know have had it done, all are quite pleased with the results. How long can you wait? 💕

        • lyn5 says:

My appt. here is on Nov. 12th for the evaluation. I don’t know what the wait time for the surgery will be, but I would shoot for early December. At least the surgery will be local.

Remember a few weeks ago the SDNY arrested Bannon on cooked up charges connected to “We Built The Wall”? At that time they also arrested Brian Kolfage a war veteran and triple amputee, during the arrest they would not give him time to put on his fake legs and made him crawl to the car using his one remaining arm in front of his family. So they were trying to shut Bannon up then and remember him emerging from custody with a huge grin on his face? Yeah The FBI knew what was coming.
