I don’t know Denise, I think it fits with 2020. It personifies how out of touch the media and the athletes are. It personifies the national suicide path so many in this nation are hell bent on following. These morons have hurt their bottom line by offending half or more of their fan base. It lays bare the whole SJW movement in a variety of ways. These athletes don’t have struggles with the police, they shouldn’t be the face of inequality, how rich, literally and figuratively! In many ways these athletes are owned and controlled by white men and apparently Chinese men too! Oh the irony!
It lays bare whom TPTB deemed “essential” and what issues those “essential people” chose to champion while we all lost our rights. It brings back to the forefront the different way protests for different causes were viewed and handled, by “our betters”. The time has come! There are literally millions of us who are Fierce Independents, moderates, slightly left or slightly right, who have been pushing this for some time now. I find it interesting that most everyone I know…who still talks to me…has some liberal points of view (especially on social issues), some conservative leanings (especially on financial issues) and tons of moderate perspectives…and now for almost 30 years, we have not been duly represented by a political party…until The Don came along..
Agreed 👍 Most of us here did that test a few years ago and we were all really close in score on the spectrum. Most of us were in the middle or just to the left or right of the middle. I remember Anthony and I had the exact same score barely to the right of center. Klown scored a point or two to the right of us, which made me laugh.
Different backgrounds, grew up in different parts of the country. My scores as a southern republican woman tightly correlated with a gay man in NYC and an attorney in CA. It proves your point though that no matter where in the country or our personal backgrounds, the vast majority of the nation’s views are very centrist. Our national views are in a tight spectrum barely to the left or right of middle. Because of that there is every reason to believe we could as a whole work out our most pressing issues. Unfortunately those that supposedly represent in fact don’t represent us. They instead cater to the extremes and their pay masters and their views are quite often in conflict with we the people.

I love this symbol of the red white and blue lion. I can just see the SJW criticism. Lions aren’t North American animals, they are carnivores and it is always an adult male lion that is shown. I feel like the lion could be an international symbol of freedom which is much needed because a lot of people and countries have been ruined by Dominion type corrupt voting systems and they need to have hope to move to freedom.

I’ve been thinking about PUMA a bit lately. From a sort of outsider looking in perspective, what I saw was a lot of people angry enough with the Democrats to declare their independence from the party, but not willing to cast a real vote long term for anyone who isn’t a Democrat. A few of them may have cast a protest vote for John McCain in that election, but there weren’t enough of them to take the election from the Democrats, and from that election on, they’ve been as solidly for the Democrats as they were before 2008. There may have been a few PUMAs who left the party and never went back, but they weren’t a large group. Other than the people here, where are the PUMAs today? Are any of them out and about Trump supporters? What blogs, except maybe this one and MOTUS, started by the PUMAs exist today where the Democrats are not fully supported? I occasionally do a blogaround to check up on “old friends”. What I see are shuttered blogs or all out shills for the Democrats.
I love coyote’s, they moved into my neighborhood and the rat problem disappeared. They are everywhere, carnivores, industrious and hard working and would make a good symbol. But the lion is fine with me. It is odd that I accepted the elephant without question. I guess because I have seen so many of them around and not always in cages. I have seen very few lions and none out of cages.

And then there is Jeffrey Epstein Zorro Ranch in Santa Fe County NM. I was the Planning, Zoning and Development Director in Santa Fe County for almost 20 years and know the Zorro Ranch area very well. My staff and I were always told to just leave it alone as it belonged to Victoria’s Secret…as they built airstrip runways, helicopter pads and huge buildings…out in the middle of nowhere…”oh, just leave them alone” one supervisor told me….”and, well, they are really under State supervision”!! There are lots of Zorro Ranch stories to tell being so close to major movie sets our there…and, of course, Tom Ford’s large ranch…but nothing happens….just like this Chinese ranch…how were they able to do this? Uh,gee, payoffs…bribes…threats…it’s really sad…

I hope it’s true too. So many people keep saying go to DC and crash Biden’s inauguration. I say, 👎. The media will claim everyone is there to adore Biden. I tell people go to Florida and be a massive welcome party there so there can be zero confusion about who drew the crowd. Besides the weather in Florida is much better.
A rally is an even better idea! Hopefully there won’t be a Biden inauguration and therefore no Florida Trump rally. However, if there is I really hope I am recovered from surgery enough and not in chemo so I can attend. I’d prefer to welcome POTUS and FLOTUS home in January 2025, but if it is January 2021 then I really hope I’m well enough to be there.
I don’t see how Joe could put up with an inauguration schedule, which starts early in the morning and lasts til the wee hours of the next day after the obligatory visits to all the Balls with a dance with FLOTUS. If it gets to that point, I’m expecting a Covid Cancellation because not only is the Mall packed, but transportation into the city is jam packed too. Ooooh Cooties Joe, Cooties that kept you in your basement for a year ?
I’m still hoping for the best and preparing for the worst if JoeJoe Binks wins the steal. Right now the Bots want to forbid the Trumps being flown HOME on AF 1, which is a tradition. I’m still in a battle there is a doctor to doctor pow wow today. That was supposed to happen last week, but the insurance company doctor called hours after time set, 30 minutes after everyone left surgeon’s office😡
With or without imaging I’m headed for surgery. The cancer has to be removed. The imaging is to try and determine the depth and go into surgery with some idea of margins needed. The surgeon prefers to go in knowing that and not fly by the seat of his pants so to speak. Initially I was supposed to have surgery next week, now I’m not sure.
I agree with you, I think the house, plane, etc., was a step down for the Trumps. I also don’t think he gives a rat’s ass about being flown home on AF1. It’s not like he has to beg for a charter he owns a 757🙄 The left are petty, shitty losers and winners. They are just vile, nasty people that are perpetually angry.
I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I must have missed your original post. Don’t know what type you are battling, but it is beatable. I’m 8 years post bilateral mastectomy and as far as I know, it’s all good. Wishing the best of care, luck and good vibes your way!

A change of pace. My brother was diagnosed yesterday with covid. 😟 He had barely recovered from his emergency appendectomy election night (he voted and then went to ER). His appendix was about to burst and he had some residual infection that kept him in hospital longer, now this☹ 2020 sucks.
So far he seems to be doing OK. I left envelopes full of pills on his porch for him yesterday evening. I also printed out the Eastern Virginia Medical School protocol for him to follow with said pills in envelopes.
He started with a fever Saturday afternoon. He went to a testing center was given a rapid test which was positive and a deep nasal swab was taken for confirmation. That test came back yesterday afternoon positive.
So far the fever and associated fever symptoms have been his biggest issue. No matter what he threw at the fever Saturday and most of the day Sunday he couldn’t break it. It finally broke about midnight, hopefully some of what I took him helped. Since fever broke he has sinus issues similar to a mild cold and a hacking cough, again similar to a mild cold.
Hopefully this is the worst of it for him, but no matter what he’s under quarantine.

My father was diagnosed with covid last week. He got it from one of the workers in his nursing home. The nursing home has been locked down to F&F for a month (those F&F had to be tested for covid and be negative before they could visit) so they know it was a worker, and they all wear masks.
Several people in the nursing home have died. He appears to be holding his own (we have no idea how he is actually doing because he cannot communicate, and no one can visit him).
There is no way to prevent this from spreading via masks or lockdowns, and all those measures are doing are creating additional economic problems, sickness, death, and addictions. Here’s hoping the vaccine works.

My brother is 50 and in good health, no co-morbidities, I assume he’ll recover just fine. My chief concern is that my brother was around my two sisters, had dinner at one’s house the day before he became sick. Then my two sisters have been around my mother🥺 Both sisters are on a prophylaxis protocol and so far neither has had any symptoms thank goodness.
My sisters have appointments to be tested Wednesday morning. Date chosen based on exposure window. My brother went to a private testing lab today and had a 3rd covid test he had to pay out of pocket for. This was his second deep nasal swab. They just called his test was positive, again. He can’t sit still, he’s likely to schedule testing daily even if he has to drive all over to hit different test sites🙄 So far he really seems to be doing fine and I hope it stays that way.

What about your sisters and your mother? You mention a prophylaxis protocol. What is it? I can’t believe there is so much available out East, but I haven’t heard of any prophylaxis protocol here. smh.

Ann, all good thoughts going to your father. My daughter’s nursing home was never really open to F&F. But they are closed again to everyone due to a staff testing positive last week. They are testing everyone twice/week right now. I don’t know how long they are going to do this; they are looking forward to the vaccine. I hope your father recovers well.

BTW, NYS is double counting a lot of tests. If I took a test today in my county and found out I was positive and then was retested tomorrow and that positive was confirmed, that would be 1 positive (because I am one person). NYS would count it as 2 positives.
My future DIL has been working in the covid ward at the largest local hospital. They have a lot of beds full but never have had to turn other wings (which was the original plan in March/April) into covid wings.

In other news, I made my DIL happy by cleaning up, fixing, & oiling the music box mechanism in her family heirloom jewelry box.
She had thought it dated from the 1940s, but the melody is the theme song from the 1970 movie, “Love Story”, for which the composer won an Academy Award in 1971.
I had already been suspicious of the 1940s date because the mechanism contains a white (nylon?) plastic worm gear. All the rest was cast iron, steel, & brass which could have been 1940s, except the brand stamped on the mainspring housing was Fuji, with a stylized 16th note between the “u” & “j”. I doubt we were importing Japanese music box mechanisms in the 1940s.
The box itself could be from the 40s but the music box could’ve replaced the original. I’ve done that to interesting things I’ve found in the old antique marts (closed a few years ago dammit)

I’ve been fascinated with how things work since a little kid. I’ve worked on mechanical things from clocks to musical instruments to motorcycles to auto engines & transmissions, and electronics & computers, hardware & software. Now I have a Sherline lathe & mill so I can make small metal parts. Made a 40 tooth clock gear to replace a broken one earlier this year to fix a friend’s family heirloom 1930s clock. Impressed myself with that one, my first ever attempt at making a gear, and it worked perfectly. 🙂

Started out taking the toaster apart and putting it back together when I was 9. My mom had a fit. Greatest accomplishment was buying a 67 GTO with a blown engine from the junkyard when I was 17 and rebuilding the original 389 into a 440 that was like a rocket

Lockdowns are a good example of how people don’t understand statistics. If you lock down at the peak of a surge, the lockdown doesn’t cause it to lower, the fact that it’s a PEAK means it will go down if they do nothing. California never really let up on restrictions and their rates were as bad as anyone else.
