GOPe = A Nest of Vipers

With friends like this guy, who needs enemies?

Harry Truman famously said, “You want a friend in Washington? Get a dog.” Donald Trump doesn’t own a dog. When Trump leaves Washington he won’t be leaving any friends behind. He didn’t have any friends in Washington when he got there, and he doesn’t have any now.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has indicated that he believes that impeaching President Donald Trump will make it easier to get rid of the President and Trumpism from the Republican Party, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Another person with direct knowledge told CNN there’s a reason McConnell has been silent on impeachment as other Republicans have pushed back: he’s furious about last week’s attack on the US Capitol by the President’s supporters, even more so that Trump has shown no contrition. His silence has been deliberate as he leaves open the option of supporting impeachment.
McConnell has made no commitments on voting to convict Trump, and wants to see the article itself before voting. It’s a stark contrast to the President’s first impeachment, when McConnell repeatedly spoke out against Democratic intentions to hold Trump accountable for a pressure campaign on the Ukrainian government to investigate Joe Biden and his family.
McConnell has been steadily moving his conference away from Trump for weeks. While he knows they all aren’t there with him, the Kentucky Republican believes the party needs to turn the page.
Several GOP sources said on Tuesday that if McConnell supports conviction, Trump almost certainly will be convicted by 67 senators in the impeachment trial.
“If Mitch is a yes, he’s done,” said one Senate GOP source who asked not to be named.

Many Republican senators are staying quiet about whether they’ll back conviction — a sign that they, too, could support conviction in an effort to rid Trump from their party.

Classic cNN – polling the jury before charges are even filed. Notice that they don’t ask if the Senators think Trump is guilty, they just want to know if the Senators will vote to convict.

According to the news media, the fact that Trump got fewer votes than some Republicans he shared ballots with proves that the voters like the GOP more than Trump. Except the polling shows the opposite – Trump is way more popular than the GOP.

Something like 98% of Republicans support Trump. The 2% that hate Trump are all the GOP office holders and GOP establishment types. The people who control the party, aka the GOP establishment, are the same people the bulk of the party considers to be RINOs.

The issue is not whether the GOPe will rid the party of Trump, the issue is whether Trump will rid himself of the party. Ima gonna call my shot here:

Any Republican in the House or Senate who votes to impeach/convict Trump will not win reelection.

I wish Trump and people on his side would create new political party. I don’t think that will happen, or at least don’t think Trump will be involved in that. But it would be so great.

The GOPe is the same as it has always been. Country club snobs who really hate working class and really most middle class people. They really hated Trump for bringing in the working class and winning and making the GOP more powerful and popular. The GOPe could care less about that apparently.

not to be horribly cynical, but when elections matter, Dominion decides who wins

    • DandyTIger says:

Yeah, that’s assuming we actually have real elections. I think we’ve always had election fraud, things have always been rigged. But I think in the past the rigging could only go so far, and only deal with relatively close elections. If that’s still true, then there is a glimmer of hope out there. But I’m not sure that’s true any more.

  3. DandyTIger says:

So a big question is what happens to the Trump family and their businesses. Will they be destroyed utterly via being shunned, losing banking, really any money transactions? Will their properties be destroyed or confiscated by the government? How far do the Dems, GOP, and media want to go?

    • votermom says:

      I watch and worry

      • swanspirit says:

I thought I was angry at Dims and Rinos before. I have to be careful of my blood pressure.
But I don’t think 74 million people will allow the Trump family to be ruined. He fought too hard for us. And if he starts a new party, both parties are toast.

    • Constance says:

The Democrats want complete and total destruction as an example so no dirty commoner ever dares enter their gleaming halls of virtue again. But the closest thing they have to self reflection is projection. As a result they are completely unaware how hideous and hate-filled they have become. They don’t get that Trump doesn’t seek their approval and he doesn’t want to live among him.

    • Mothy67 says:

You would think they would look at fox news. Two and a half months and we have not come home wagging our tails behind us. The average Trump voters do not share one set of teeth per family. Look at those boats in the parades. Many cost one hell of a pretty penny. I even believe that many sufferers of TDS are not cool with the tech silencing. Midterms are only 22 months off. Why bother to fight if mitch and nancy decide who wins.

      • swanspirit says:

And just because Facebook wiped out Brandon Straka, and the Walkaway groups, doesn’t mean those people went away. I honestly think some of these cucks live in a virtual world, and believe on some level, that if these people aren’t on social media, they don’t exist in reality.

        • DeniseVB says:

The States and the private Discussion group are still up. I’m still hanging in there to see where Brandon decides to take Walk Away. This reminds me when PUMA and The Tea Party had great, loyal bases to go third party and blew it.

There’s a kid who started a group on FB called Joe Biden is not my President and go 1.8 million followers in 2 weeks. It was shut down. So many lost opportunties to gather up real patriots… shouldn’t take an act of Congress 😉

  5. Mothy67 says:

I have to find out how PA handles write-in votes. I read in certain states (not sure which) that those votes can be counted towards “The Party” . I didn’t understand the article when I read it. I will register Libertarian if that is the case. Neither party represents me. I thought about not voting, but I want to vote at least against if I can not fathom voting for.

      • Mothy67 says:

I think it’s been over a week since I did it online. I am still registered rethug. I assume I will be receiving something to sign but as of today’s post nada. I am considering going libertarian as I believe there are certain considerations given. Toomey is a disgrace.

    • elliesmom says:

There are only three options for how write-in votes are counted in the US. One is there are no write-in votes allowed, and no place on the ballot to do it. The second is people can write-in anyone they want, and the vote gets recorded for posterity. In the third, and Pennsylvania is in this group, people may write-in anyone they want, but the vote only counts if the write-in candidate has pre-registered as a write-in candidate. Otherwise, the vote for that office is discarded. So you may vote for Mickey Mouse if you like, but only you will know. There is nowhere that a candidate you didn’t vote for gets your vote.

      • Mothy67 says:

Thanks. The article I read didn’t gel with me. How could they attribute my vote to someone I did not opt for?
This also explains why I am not in Congress. I vote for myself all the time.

      • Constance says:

But it is important to never leave a blank on a ballot. Corrupt election workers will fill in their choices during the counting. Of course that is on the off chance that they bother with vote counting.

    • Constance says:

Stop the Congressional Clown show! What are they so afraid of? OH! yes, President Trump commands the military until the 20th and the military has courts that take treason cases. President Trump also has reason to move the National Guard, which he can command in a crisis, into all states because of the threat of armed protests in every capitol and DC. I guess that is enough knowledge to make them act like panicked clowns. Will President Trump do it? Time will tell but the knowledge seems to scare the hell out of them.

  9. elliesmom says:

I don’t see any sign in either the RI or the MA FB groups for Trump that there are any plans to be in DC on the 20th. They hope Trump and Melania will leave town the night before and be long gone from DC before any part of the inauguration starts. Since they don’t believe Biden won the election, there’s nothing to see in DC. I can’t speak for them or for Trump supporters anywhere else, but I think they want to hang Antifa and BLM out to dry by themselves if they cause any trouble. If any “white supremacists” show up, they’ll be in their own, too. Although the FBI appears to be gearing up for riots in capital cities across the country, I haven’t received any invitations to be in either Providence or Boston on that day.

    • DeniseVB says:

Since half of Virginia can Metro or Virginia Rail into DC, the VA group is putting out warnings too. Nobody trusts anybody since it’s okay to put on a MAGA hat, create mayhem then be able to blame an entire group of innocent people for their deeds. No thanks 🙂

      • Constance says:

I don’t see MAGAs puttiing on uniforms grabbing their weapons and marching down the street like a bunch of Antifa/BLM/CIA. When MAGA goes active it will be more effective and stealth. Trump has specifically said he will not be at the January 20th inauguration. This has to be causing Democrats to spew extra bile. There will be no legitimacy and solemn tradition surrounding the day. No concession, no acknowledgement of legitimacy of Biden or their party. Don’t kid yourselves Democrats want President Trump there so they can spit on him. They’ve probably been dreaming of it for 4 years.

  10. Mothy67 says:

Why a different playbook on social media for the patriot. Assuming (cough, cough) that there are those that believe we are all terrorists in the making – why treat us so differently than other perceived threats. My understanding is that islamic terrorists and MAPs( minor attracted persons- gag) are allowed to post/engage so they can be monitored. Were it that we posed this made up danger wouldn’t it be wise to track?
Cause it’s not true. None of it. They just want to silence. Parler didn’t even offer the group functions that shitbook does. Personally, I believe it was theatrics. Anything to excise Trump. Even a few innocent lives. Look what the crooks do in the M.E.
I also don’t care about their feigned fear. What about the single mom with her suv surrounded by blm/antifa slugs. Her fear is more relevant to my life than a DC grifter.

It’s not just Firefox. I use Chrome, I checked Microsoft Edge, and it’s doing the same thing on both of them. Gab may changed its DNS server or something like that. I don’t think it’s an issue to worry about.

      • lyn5 says:

When I created another gab account with the same info, I signed into an autho page. Weird.

      • taw46 says:

Same thing with Edge on my desktop and safari on iPhone. Once I finally was able to sign in today, I still can’t do anything. I think it’s their traffic and the fact they are adding servers.

        • Constance says:

Gab said they got 600,000. new users a day on the last day that they put out stats. They also said they are scaling up and experiencing massive attacks.

      • lateblum says:

I wonder if Gab, after making itself available to host(?) Parler, is experiencing way greater use/traffic that is slowing its response. Also, I had heard last night that Parler was being hosted(?) by the same server that hosts Gab. Is it possible that it is being overwhelmed by Parler as well as Gab users?
Of course, it goes without saying that I am almost completely ignorant r/t most things tech.

        • elliesmom says:

I would guess the servers at Epik are a bit overwhelmed taking on Parler at the same time Gab is getting a huge influx of users. As my boss would say when I worked in engineering, if money will solve the problem, and we have money, then there is no problem. With the addition of Parler and more subscribers to Gab should come more revenues, which they can use to increase their server capacity. The users just need to be a little patient.

      brave, opera are ok

      • elliesmom says:

Opera uses the same browser engine as Chrome and has all of the same security holes. A webpage that will hack Chrome will also hack Opera. The only reason to choose Opera over Chrome is to deny Google your business. I was using Firefox professionally because at the time it was the only browser that operated without distorting webpages from one machine platform to another. When that wasn’t an issue for me, I left over the Brendan Eich issue, but I never had any security issues with it. Brendan Eich is the developer behind Brave. The principal draw to Brave is its adblocker, I already have an adblocker installed so that’s not a big draw for me . It supposedly also does less data tracking, but I’m not going to certify that’s true. Brave issues rewards to sites you visit based on the time you spend there so there’s some kind of tracking going on.

The Republicans are in a hate bubble, they’ve hated Trump from the get go because he upset the gravy train.

My BIL is as establishment as you can be, in fact he was an appointee in two previous R administrations. He’s never been a huge Trump guy, but did vote for him. He’s your typical establishment pearl clutcher, my sister ditto. My BIL is absolutely enraged over impeachment, not because he’s a Trump loyalist, but because of what is happening to the republican party. He sees the handwriting on the wall. The McConnell rumors sent him to the moon.

If the establishment has lost my sister and BIL who are total establishment types and rub elbows with these fucks they deserve what’s coming.

    • Somebody says:

I might add my BIL was and is livid over what happened at the Capitol. He does not want Trump to return either, but Republicans on the hill willingly participating in a Soviet show trial is not the way forward in his opinion. Especially when said show trial will occur after DJT leaves office.

In essence as much as he pearl clutches over Trump tweets, etc., this move by Republicans on the hill is making him clutch his pearls far more

      • Constance says:

The DC establishment is nothing but a bunch of parasitic elitists. We do not have a government of The People, by The People and for The People! They have a really big problem on their hands if they go through with show trials or installing an illegitimate government.

        • Constance says:

Well the Capitol police encouraged the MAGA people to enter the buildings and led them through to where “they” wanted the photo op. This is on film and it is all over the internet in-spite of the censorship. I posed it on Nextdoor last night and the Libs went batshit crazy. Not one guard but at least 60 of them were there when people were let in. It was the policy and plot of some very big wigs in Congress and Capitol Security. Mitch had to have known, if he didn’t plot it. He doesn’t want to discuss it or make any public remark.

      • Somebody says:

I disagree that news story was leaked for a purpose, it was basically them sticking their finger in the air to test the winds.

If you have an R senator I implore you to call or email them Pronto. They need to feel the heat, they need to know we will not forgive and forget. Trust me they really, really want to vote to convict but they are cucks. If they think the pitchforks will be metaphorically aimed at them they’ll give grandiose speeches on the floor and vote 👎 in the impeachment trial. If they don’t hear much they’ll think they can get away with it, their staff, their consultants, the lobbyist are all egging them on. Those eyeing a 2024 run would especially love to knee cap DJT.

If you have an R representative it doesn’t hurt to contact them, but that ship appears to have sailed. If your representative does vote for impeachment you should give them an ear full and if they vote no then be sure to thank them.

The Republicans here are charting stormy waters, we need to make sure they hear from us in large numbers. I assure you they’ve hired consultants and polls are being conducted as I type this. For once in your life take the poll if they call you.

I get it, we are all angry and fed up with all of them, but this is NOT the right time for the silent treatment. That day will come, right now we must make sure our voices are heard for the sake of POTUS.

  26. lyn5 says:

    Thank you, Donald Trump
    by Don Surber

He made us laugh. He made us proud. He kept his word. He made America great again. In a week, the Trump Era will end as the constitutional republic devolves into a fascist state, replete with the very corruption and authoritarianism that his enemies falsely accused of him.

But let us not dwell on the evil that awaits us.

Instead, let us recall the good times before Red China unleashed the virus that befell us, and allowed Democrats and RINOs to turn our nation into a totalitarian state of masks and terrorists disguised as mostly peaceful protesters.

President Donald John Trump took a moribund economy with a 4.9% unemployment rate and within 3 years, dropped it to a 50-year low of 3.5%.

His tidal wave of economic growth raised all boats. Black employment was never better. Hispanic employment was never higher. Female employment was never higher. All this was due to a man they called racist and sexist.

He became the first president in decades to add manufacturing jobs. Obama’s presidency saw a net loss.

He fulfilled promises despite treachery and opposition by his own party. For years these vipers promised to repeal and replace Obamacare. When The Donald asked them to keep their word, they refused.

President Trump gutted it by removing the unconstitutional mandate that forced healthy people to buy hospitalization insurance at a level they did not need in order to subsidize those who needed it.

Both parties in 2006 promised to build a wall. They made it a law. But that was just for show. A decade later they refused to fund the wall.

President Trump built 450 miles of wall without their help.

Both parties promised for decades to move the embassy to Israel. He did. Washington said it would bring World War III. It brought peace. 5 majority Muslim nations normalized relations with Israel. In the previous 7 decades under 11 presidents, only 2 Muslim nations had.

He worked with Muslim nations to end ISIS, and when they succeeded, he withdrew our troops.

He also withdrew our troops from the border of Syria and Turkey and let those nations settle their dispute. Washington predicted genocide. Washington lied.

President Trump brought peace and prosperity. He did so with a lying media and a Mueller witch hunt on his back.

MAGAPILL listed all his accomplishments in his first 3 years.

2020 devastated the country and deposed our president.

Before his departure, let us raise a toast to our president. He did not just try to do his best. He became the best.

They didn’t care, and still don’t care, about any other single American subjected to violence in this country. And they also fail to realize that millions and millions of people can see it.

So they are either convincing actors or not everyone in Congress was in on the false flag Capitol riot event and some were actually scared. “Statement from the President: In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind. This is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.
