Nasty Nana Strikes Again

The House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Donald Trump a second time. They must have spent all of 20 minutes in debate.

If you were hoping 2021 would be better than 2020, keep hoping. But hope is not a strategy.

    WTF! Who is John Sullivan?

    https://www.ptnewsnetwork.com/fact-check-blm-antifa-linked-john-sullivan-is-not-a-journalist-told-protesters-to-burn-capitol/

Unlike most social justice protest organizers, let alone radical anti-police extremists we typically see taking leadership roles in protests, Sullivan grew up part of a wealthy family in northern Virginia. Sullivan and his brothers were all nationally ranked inline speed skaters and competed in competitions throughout the United States and international competitions in Spain, France, and Italy.

When Sullivan finished high school, he relocated to Salt Lake City, UT, to begin training as a professional speed skater. While in a specialized speed training program, Sullivan worked various odd jobs until he turned 21, when he began a new job, driving an Uber.

Uber actually featured Sullivan in a featured article and several commercials, one of which was last aired on 8/29/2016 on national television. In January of 2018 Sullivan competed in the Olympic Trials in a nationally televised race.

I have to admit it’s entertaining to watch the dismay on the faces of the people who voted for Biden (or against Trump) because they were convinced Biden and the Democrats would heal the country. My son-in-law was more than OK with Twitter banning Trump, but not so OK with Amazon shutting down Parler. “It’s like telling half the country they can’t buy paper!”

  5. Anthony says:

Parler said they won’t be able to get an app. My hunch is they’re negotiating a merge with Gab behind the scenes.

McConnell Rejects Emergency Session On Impeachment, All But Killing Push To Oust Trump

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has rejected a plan to reconvene the Senate in an emergency session to hold trial over an impeachment article against President Trump in the House.

McConnell press secretary Doug Andres confirmed a report that the Kentucky Republican would not sanction such a move on Wednesday.

A long time online sewing buddy of mine lives in the UK in the town where Doc Martin was filmed. She works in a sail factory designing custom sails. Her job is 45 minutes from home. The current lockdown rules where she lives limit her to going no more than 5 minutes. Going to work is an exception to the rules, but she has to carry proof of her employment with her when she’s either coming or going to work. This morning she was stopped by the police and asked for her letter from her employer. As I was reading about this, I expected some righteous indignation to follow, but what she said next was how disappointed she was it took the police this long to stop her. And all of her friends agreed the police are derelict in how they carry out the job of making sure only people who are authorized to travel more than 5 minutes are doing it. How are we going to fight “the Great Reset” if this how people think?

I’ve thought about this a lot. Hillary Clinton lost the election in 2016 way back in 2008. When she abandoned her supporters, mostly but not all women, by not even letting us see how far we’d come by letting her delegates cast their votes for her at the convention, a lot of us felt betrayed. She traded us for being Secretary of State, and then she did a terrible job at it to boot. Dan Crenshaw worked hard at establishing himself as a candidate a lot of us admired. We even named Lola’s one-eyed squirrel after him. 😉 We looked at him as a young man with a place on the Republican bench of future star players. Now we feel betrayed again. I think he might have moved himself off that bench. Once trust is lost it’s hard to get it back, and I’m sure it’s not just here he’s disappointed.

      • Woke Lola says:

In a sad twist of fate, Crenshaw-the-squirrel is no more. A barred owl flew into Bird City one day last week and sat over it on a branch for the longest time. I haven’t seen Crenshaw since. I’m sorry for the squirrel, but I’m hoping there’s a barred owl on our national horizon.

There is a lot of speculation that Trump hopes to collapse the central bank before they can institute their “great reset” Basically call the USA bankrupt, push off almost all of the debt, drastically cut taxes and government. Bankers are going to hate Trump for many reasons. I’m still hoping he pulls it out but I wouldn’t expect him to give up his plan just because he isn’t President.

    • jeffhas says:

Maybe he can just buy or invest in a small independent or regional bank and run it as a MAGA bank for all those people and business that need a place to put their money, access credit card processing, etc etc.

      • John Denney says:

One of the goals in The Communist Manifesto is to have one centralized bank.

That gives central government absolute control over people’s finances.

That’s the direction we’re headed now, since the Fed is holding interest rates so low.

An independent bank needs depositors and borrowers, making its money on the spread between the interest charged to borrowers & the interest paid to depositors.

The Fed targets inflating the dollar by 2% per year; if your savings account pays less than that, your account is losing value. People who know that don’t money in a bank savings account, therefor an independent bank has less money to loan. They have to be tied to the Fed to get loans from it to loan to borrowers. But if the Fed doesn’t like your clientele . . . like guns & ammo manufacturers & retailers, or pot shops . . .

    Completely OT!
I just had a message from my son that the mother of the woman who monitors the morning remote learning of my grandgirlies has just tested positive for C19. I’ve been with them with zero distance between us for the past 2 afternoons and was supposed to be with them tomorrow. I won’t be going tomorrow, of course.
I will be going to the health store tomorrow to get Quercetin, Zinc and elderberry chewable. As it is, I take everything else in the prophylaxis protocol (that Somebody had posted the other day for em) daily. And even the Zinc is in the vitamins and my evening supplements, although probably not in the amount stated.
I realize that I sound as though I’ve never faced illness in my kids and family members before. Or that I’m stupid, but I’ve been overtaken with a mild panic right now. (This is very different from how I thought I’d respond to this type of news.)
So… in reading through the ‘recipe’ from Somebody, she mentions the ”EVMS Covid protocol” Can anyone tell me what “EVMS” stands for?

    THANK YOU in advance.

    • lateblum says:

Never mind, I found EVMS. Thanks anyway. 💕

The group of doctors who were fighting for Hydroychloroquine publicly in DC is supposedly prescribing Hydroxy with online visits and mailing it to you so that might be a help. I can’t remember their name but I think it had “American” in it. But zinc and vitamin D help a lot and they have also decided that people who aren’t sick aren’t big spreaders because they have low virus load.

      • lateblum says:

Thanks, Constance! About a year ago, I was diagnosed with “too much” vitamin D. The doctor ordered me to stop taking it. So I cut it in down and I’m now taking the 1000 load of D3 instead of 5000. I take some zinc but I’m upping it tomorrow. I wish I weren’t as anxious as I am. I think it’s because of my age. But darn it. I need a haircut and I just had to cancel my Friday appt because of this. 🙃

I remember that group of doctors. I’ll look for them in the morning.

        • Constance says:

I’m really anxious right now too. I’ve had several flat out panic attacks but these are anxious times so don’t let yourself worry about it. Try to make your days positive. A week from now we will know how things played out both politically and your health scare.

          • lateblum says:

I’m sorry about your anxiety. I hope those panic attacks don’t last too long. I used to talk dd#1 through her panic attacks, even long distance. Yes! a week is such a short time in the long run. Thanks for reminding me.
            Here we go… fingers crossed.

    • Woke Lola says:

Girl, no apologies for freaking out. It is scary, especially if you have any co-morbidities. I’ve been through 3 Covid scares in my home in the last year, and every time it’s a mess of panic, waiting, and then knowing through a test (but not really knowing) and then waiting out the incubation period to be sure. It’s a ride. Be safe, and yes, your protocols are good. Slightest symptoms, get the test.

      • Woke Lola says:

Also, if you haven’t already, please sterilize your home to the extent you can. Viral load–meaning the initial collection of viral cells by the body–has an impact on the severity of the illness for those who contract it.

      • lateblum says:

Thanks, Lola. I remember your Covid scares. I was right there with you. Thank goodness everything turned out okay! I will be the first in line for a test if I develop any symptoms.

Update from France. I have seen 2 restauranteurs on Facebook in the last day saying fuck this shit and claiming they are reopening. No negative comments on those posts, either. My personal “fuck this” moment involved booking a real family vacation for this summer. The only reason it isn’t international is because I don’t wanna fly with 5 kids, and probably nobody else wants me to do that either. My entire neighborhood (including the ICU doctor next door) is now ignoring the outdoor mask mandate (it’s a rural area, we don’t even have sidewalks, it’s not the fucking Paris Metro) and a significant number of them are ignoring the curfew. I think people are DONE or getting close to it. Supposedly there is a government announcement tonight and if Castex announces a 6pm curfew for the whole country, I think things are gonna blow.

For the first time ever, I actually agree with Francois Fucking Hollande, the only politician in the country who has noticed that it doesn’t make sense to impose the same rules for city and countryside, for areas with high death rates and areas that are pretty much untouched, for vulnerable elders and Teflon kids, and so forth.

    • elliesmom says:

I’m still playing the “have you had enought yet?” game with my Facebook friends. I know for one of them not being able to go on a vacation for the second year will probably do it.

    • jadzia1971 says:

My optimism for no curfew extension was misplaced. In about 2 hours the government is expected to announce that we are locked in our homes 12 hours a day. I have to admit that my emotional health is deteriorating after almost a year of this. My guy just started a mgmt training program about 2 hours from here. Like, he literally started today. We were both really happy that he’ll have the opportunity to move up from “regular” engineering stuff. I’m not sure what he’s expected to do–stay in a hotel 3 nights/week?

I don’t know how to explain to Ellie we have to stay around the house today until the Fedex guy comes, and she’s going to be disappointed when he gets here. Today the box will be for me. Not Chewy, com, but Wine.com. She has plenty of food and treats, but my wine selection is very limited at the moment. A couple of bottles of bubblies, a bottle of Marsala for cooking, a really nice dessert wine, and a $40 bottle of Merlot. As wine goes the $40 bottle isn’t expensive, but in my world it’s too expensive to be pizza wine and too expensive to dump in the stew pot. In Cootie World I don’t have to sign for the delivery, but the driver can’t just leave the box on the porch. We have to smile and wave at each other through the door. My front door isn’t visible from the street, and the driver knows I’m probably just walking the dogs, and we’ll probably pass each other on the street, but whether Fedex can deliver wine in RI is a gray area, and neither one of us wants to be the test case.

Finished Breaking Bad. It ended up as I thought it would. The father/son dynamic went the course. Was very good. Wish I could have taken my time, but my netflix ends today and I am loathe to have a bunch of channels I don’t watch. I do one at a time unless there is something I really want to see.

      • elliesmom says:

If you get Netflix back, or maybe you can find it somewhere else, you might like a series called “The Sinner”. It’a a crime series where you know what crime has been committed and who committed it. The mystery is why. Each season is a different story with Bill Pullman as a cop who won’t let a case go until he knows why. He’s the only constant from one season to the next. You need to watch season one first so you get to know him, but then after that it doesn’t matter what order you watch them in. “The Killing” with Mireille Enos is another good crime series. Also a different crime each season. “Breaking Bad” is one of my all-time favorites. I’ve watched the series twice. Once by myself, and then again when I talked Elliesdad into watching it. His favorite episode was the one with the fly.

        • lateblum says:

I love Bill Pullman and am so happy to know about “The Sinner”.I’ll start watching it today before the Figure Skating begins. I thought “The Killing” was so good. I don’t know why I didn’t continue watching.
I was completely surprised to learn that the entirety of the series of “Breaking Bad” encompassed only one year. Such good tv.

      So interesting, Dora. Thank you.
I hadn’t heard about the death of Dr. Gregory Michael. After reading about this, I am now, more than ever, convinced to forego the vaccine. The assumption is that he died only days after receiving the vaccine from a blood disorder called ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura) sometimes triggered by viruses and/or vaccines.
I developed this when I was a youngish mom (37yo) only a few days after recovering from chickenpox – generously given to me by my children. I was very ill from the pox and days later began spontaneously bruising. I can recall sitting o the floor, talking on the phone with my mother, when a huuuge bruise formed on my calf – out of no where. I sat there watching as it took over my entire left calf. I called the MD and in only a day or so, I was having a spinal tap and blood draws. The initial thought was leukemia. But after months of weekly blood draws, and weekly dropping of my platelet count, they finally rushed me to the hospital lest I hemorrhage internally. And after getting a second opinion from a doctor I had known my entire life, and trusted implicitly, I agreed to a splenectomy. My platelet count leapt back to normal (from 4000 to 250,000) and I was dc’d home with a script for prednisone. I was titrated off that steroid in a few weeks. My platelet count has remained normal since then (at least when checked). I’m going to keep it that way. I already gave my spleen. I have nothing left to offer in case that disorder returns.

      • lyn5 says:

Wow. Glad you are still here, lateblum. ❤

      • elliesmom says:

I have a friend who has trouble maintaining her platelet count. She has had to postpone surgeries in the past until her counts came back up. She’s chomping at the bit to get the vaccine because she thinks it will allow her to take a vacation. I’d like to send her a link to an article about Dr. Michael, but she would just discount it as a rightwing conspiracy theory. I’m glad removing your spleen solved the problem, and that they were able to do the surgery before things got past the point where they could. ❤

        • lateblum says:

Thank you em. I had an uncle who was a wonderful doctor and he was the medical pro who I turned to for that 2nd opinion. It sounded like that “simple” solution was too good to be true. I’m also fortunate that it was the answer. I don’t think I could’ve been on steroids for the rest of my life.
I hope your friend finds something to resolve the platelet issue. It is frightening knowing she could end up in a situation in which a completely innocent bump could send her to the emergency room – or worse.
