Funny thread, but not everybody “got it” 😀

I was actually thinking about this on the way to work as all the overhead traffic signs had things like: “Today we are all Irish but Remember to Wear Your Mask “; It’s Great to Celebrate the Wearing of the Green but Keep Distancing “; “Don’t Let the Road Rise to Meet You Before Your Time, Drive Sober”.

You would think after appropriating a culture year in and year out that at least a few of the SJW woke folk would have developed a slight [very] sense of humor. Granted the self-deprecating variety is beyond their ability to grasp. 👽

NC is under a level 4 warning for tornadoes, hail, and damaging straight line winds tomorrow. As a local friend put it ‘hopefully none of us loses power or dies’. Which does cover it.

They pulled the six-foot distancing out of their asses.

      • jadzia1971 says:

The distancing is the part that is the most emotionally upsetting to me after seeing so many of my “friends” posting and complaining about how DISGUSTING people are, how grossed out they are by other people breathing, talking, laughing.

Did they see me as a nasty, nausea-inducing plague rat all along?

Six feet was a fallback measure when good masks were in short supply. Someone made a little YouTube video of “social distance” and claimed it would keep people from getting COVID. That lasted about a week and then states started lockdowns. But the essential workers were told the 6 feet would still work so the poors wouldn’t revolt and stay home, too. Then masks came in and didn’t work, so people were told to wear masks AND social distance. Since it’s impossible to do that all the time, all the people who got COVID after the Spring were just told they must have taken off the mask or gotten too close one time.

    Two items:

    1. Today Walmart has face masks on clearance. I’m taking that as a good sign. The Masque of the Blue Death is nearly over. It would be over now but the retailers wanted a couple months so they could unload their mask inventory.

    2. I am officially old. I drove halfway home from Walmart with my turn-signal blinking.
    I fart dust now.

My husband was working at an Irish bar. He just got done work and there was a new bartender that the owner’s wife had not met. It was quiet when she came in. She said it is like Finnigan’s wake in here. Then she asked the new bartender his name. He said I am Finnigan.

Yes. I do the same! Sometimes it throws my grandgirlies. They were taught there is no God. It breaks my heart to know this. So I subtly let them know there is.

I am still reeling and frankly a little weepy from the first time my daughter asked me how God could let a tragedy (the unexpected death of one of her schoolmates last week) happen.

        • lateblum says:

Oh my. That is so hard. I cannot imagine how difficult that would be. And heartbreaking. 💔

          • jadzia1971 says:

It is awful. It’s a small community, a small school, and the kids are reeling. I cannot stop thinking about the poor mother.

          • jadzia1971 says:

I’m also irrationally angry about how much of M.’s life was spent confined, not allowed to go outside and play. Imprisoned. And now she will never know a normal life and her family will never have normal memories.

          • lyn5 says:

Are your daughter and her schoolmates receiving counseling from the school?

has anyone seen harris in anything but a black pants suit since Jan 20th? she may think it makes her look presidential, but I think it makes her look like a professional mourner.

    • elliesmom says:

Elizabeth Warren always wears black pants, a black tee, and then different color open front jackets. It’s like she has a uniform. I suspect Harris has put on a couple of pounds, and she thinks the black is slimming. I say that because the outfit she wore inauguration day looked like it was about 10 pounds too small for her. It looked like she was straining her buttons. Of the women Democrats that day, Michelle Obama actually looked the most put together.

About 10 years ago, I had a damn good pasty at a hole in the wall in Butte.

      That is all.

      • lyn5 says:

I love pasties. Mom made them. Yeah, Butte is a pit. Literally. A Havre friend always went to the Montana Folk Festival. My last Butte visit was in 1996. Mom and I stopped by the Berkeley Pit after a visit with her father. That pit is insane.
