I sent my regrets and a present to my brother’s birthday party today. My niece managed to change her work schedule so she can go. My sister-in-law scheduled an appointment for her second shot for yesterday and sent out an email to her guest list telling everyone she’d let us know if her reaction to the shot makes her unable to host the party when she gets up this morning. My niece is a bit upset because she traded Memorial Day off for today. We’ll see what happens, and whether my declining was prescient.

My son is coming to see me today. What we do depends on what happens with the weather, but we will have a nice time whatever we do. The boiler in my old house stopped working early this week. The kids had the repairman in, and the part was ordered, but it didn’t arrive until yesterday, and the boiler won’t be fixed until Monday. No heat was OK, but no hot water was getting old. I offered them hot water and plenty of towels. They decided to check into, as my daughter calls it, “The Bates Motel” for last night. My son-in-law had bought everything for him and the kids to make Mother’s Day dinner for my daughter, but what she wanted more was a hot shower.

When Crash heard I had invited them to come here for showers, she said, “Daddy, I know where we can cook dinner on Sunday. There’s a dishwasher, and I know where everything is in the kitchen.” So they will be here for dinner tomorrow. I don’t have to do anything except make sure the dishwasher is empty according to Crash. When the kids were here for school vacation, I made them homemade ice cream sandwiches. Crash asked if there are any left. Like she doesn’t remember she and her brother fought over the last one. So I’ll probably make a batch of over-sized cookies this morning. They can take showers before they leave and that should take care of them to go back to school.

My weekend went from hoping I didn’t get caught in a lie to I was telling the absolute truth. I do have a busy weekend.

How wonderful, em. It’s been such a pleasure hearing about your grandchildren over the years. I am certain we are all in love with Crash as well as her sibs. Have a lovely, lovely weekend.

      • elliesmom says:

Crash is a corker. Her nearly 15 year old brother is Elliesdad 2.0. ED was only 18 when I met him so having my grandson around is like deja vu. It’s fun watching him drive his mother as nuts as her father did.

Heard a blurb this morning as I passed the TV that the CDC is considering updating the death toll to 900,000. WTF? Are they never going to let us get back to normal?

I trust nothing from these cretins. Do they think we have forgotten the motorcycle crash COD. The rotations for the PCR’s? I looked at the stats a slug was quoting yesterday. He was going on about the number per million of US positives. It was pure spin. There have been over 450 million tests given on a population of 350 million. So does 100,000 positives per million people mean 1 in 100 has had covid or that some (many) people have been tested multiple times and each separate positive is counted as unique. I still don’t know of anyone who has died, but all of my proggies have stories. My brother told me he knows of many people that died. Load of tosh. I was like you moved to Georgia six months ago knowing no one, but some how you made the acquaintance of a dozen people who succumbed. Bullshit. Digging deeper he knew none. It’s one of his employee’s sister’s cousin’s best friend’s tinder date. Whispering down the lane noise.
My neighbor is deteriorating. She was born in 1953 ( I know because in order to pick up her prescriptions I need D.O.B.) She has multiple issues. I don’t look at her scrips but do hand over the check which is always near 200 and that is 2x a month with insurance. I know she has diabetes and is insulin dependent. Over one year she has been trapped alone in her house. She is terrified of going to the store 1/68th of her life has been spent alone in her house. Last spring she was out doing yard work. Two days ago she tried to take a walk with a visiting nurse. She could only make it forty feet. Not getting sunlight. No actual movement. No human contact.
How many more people like her are out there? Is the CDC hyping this all again to push vaccines?

    • Somebody says:

I actually know 3 people that died of covid. My niece’s husband in CA, which was bizarre. He was 35 and what most would consider fairly healthy. He was a construction worker, although he had been a couch potatoe for damn near a year due to strict lock downs in CA. His parents had covid and were hospitalized, he and his siblings had been taking turns caring for their parents prior to being hospitalized. All of their families got covid too and all recovered including the parents except him.

He got bad off and ended up in the hospital. He turned the corner, then regressed and died within a few hours

My ex-BIL here in FL got it and died in the hospital, he was 74. Anthony’s beloved Christian passed away from it in NYC one year ago Monday.

Technically, I know of a 4th person. The 93 year old grandfather of my nephew’s girlfriend in CA died with it very early on during the initial nationwide lockdown.

I know about a dozen people that have had it, or at least tested positive for it and recovered.

As for the CDC revising their numbers, anything based on university of Washington models is bullshit and should be looked upon as such. There have definitely been deaths that were not due to covid that were counted as such. We’ve all seen the news stories, but it goes beyond that. My dentist’s nephew was shot in the spring of 2020, his death was listed as covid🙄 My dentist can chew your ear off about covid statistics😉

It is an odd virus the way some recover, even older patients and some you’d expect to easily recover don’t.

      • Anthony says:

Sorry for your losses, Somebody, but Christian didn’t die from covid. It was sepsis from neglect of a perforated small intestine (most likely from blunt trauma) in an extended care facility during lockdown

        • Somebody says:

Sorry for including Christian in the count, I was clearly mistaken.

BTW, I am not related to Dan Quayle, autocorrect decided to add an e to potato🙄

          • Anthony says:

No harm, no foul. Ive been swamped for the past week, but have been including you in my four daily meditations. Will call tomorrow, but if you’re in the middle of well deserved Mother’s Day hoopla, don’t pick up. Love you dearly xoxo

      • lyn5 says:

“It is an odd virus the way some recover, even older patients and some you’d expect to easily recover don’t.”

        That’s what scares people.

      • jadzia1971 says:

I know SO MANY PEOPLE who have had it–3 friends, my doctor, and most of my boyfriend’s family (both here and in Morocco). Two of them were hospitalized. Nobody died. One–a 49-year-old physician (gerontologist, and I suspect she got a really high viral load thanks to her work) who is the picture of Healthy Living–went through post-viral syndrome.

    • 1539days says:

The current “death toll” in the US is 548,000. If we use the original fatality rate of 0.25%, over 200,000,000 Americans “got” COVID. That’s probably high, but the 30,000,000 diagnosed cases is probably closer to over 150,000,000 contracted infections that were never diagnosed. 900,000 is just made up BS.

If you read the article, this is more math like was used in Puerto Rico where anyone who died during that period was because of the hurricane. This was mostly used to blame Trump for everything. I’m sure these other figures are intended to do the same.

      • John Denney says:

Six family members & I all had Covid at the same time, but only 2 got tested that the CDC would know about, since none of us needed any medical intervention.

So just in that sample, the CDC figures for how many of us have had covid & recovered would be off by a factor of 3.

      • lateblum says:

Don’t have an iPhone, but I know about that arrow because there is one on my phone that I hit from time to time as well. My phone is slow to respond when I’m on the internet. And sometimes doesn’t respond at all. Very frustrating.

One of da Pup’s friends had to go away for a bit. Sweet kid. She and brat write. Some of the kids at school have been cruel in her absence. I talked with pup about how most of it comes from fear. Mental health is tricky at any age, but can be very scary during teen years. Brat defends her at school. Half the kids are on meds anyhow.
So I asked if Brat had written her back she replied yes, but she didn’t know where one of those metal things is. One of those metal things? A mailbox. I have taken the previous letters. She is almost 15 and never mailed anything. Am proud of her for not turning away from someone because it is less than comfortable.

I listen to Shannon Joy as she is (sorta) local. She’s done shows about how employer mandates for vaccinations have never held up in court. In fact, a medical worker who won’t get a flu vaccine can basically on be made to wear a mask during flu season and then only if it would affect patients.

I’m pretty inclined to think that the number of cases over the last few weeks is more “suspected COVID that’s probably not COVID” than the real deal. 60-70% of the country either has a vaccine or immunity because they got COVID 9 or fewer months ago.

My new carpet is in! I was about to lose my stuff this morning, they showed up late. Just as we were calling they pulled up. It took much longer than the estimate, they just left about 30 minutes ago. Now to put the house back together🙄

My son and grandkids came over to help and I have my 21 year old who drifts in and out of helping🙄 Slight delay, the carpet installers knocked the AT&T box off the wall🤯 My husband fiddled with it and said no internet until AT&T could come out. My daughter went into meltdown because her college classes start Monday. In walks my computer engineer son and offers up several options to fix it. They didn’t know if it was broken or just unplugged, the box has a security lock on it. My son offers to wire a box up if we can secure a 12 volt power supply OR he bring him an Allen wrench and a Dremel and he can get into the box. I opted for door number two, my husband didn’t want to opt for either. Door number one involved splicing wires, door number two involved breaking the “security lock”🙄 A lock on a device I freaking purchased, that is in my home? Door number two son.

A minute and a half later he’s in. The connection had come loose, he plugged it back and and fastened it back together, boom, fixed. My husband got over breaking “the rules”🙄

Now back to putting the house together!

    • 1539days says:

What the hell? My AT&T box is outside the house. That way they don’t have to fix anything inside the house. Then again, the only internet I can get is cable and the box isn’t doing anything now that I have VOIP.

      • Somebody says:

We have a box outside too, the green thingies that run along the street that hold all their cables including telephone. This box is for high speed internet. I can’t recall, but it’s the fastest available, your area has to be wired for uverse to have it. My husband works from home and needs the bandwidth.

We had a nice day today. We decided to save our outing to the shore for a nicer day so I leashed up Ellie, and my son leashed his Hank, and we took the doggies on a long walk. My son was impressed with how much better Hank is getting around. The surprise of the day was when my son decided to get my grill ready for the next time he comes. When we opened the door where the gas tank sits, a long snake slithered out. Ellie and Hank ran after it. I’m still laughing at Hank trying to catch it. Then we did a takeout lunch from a local place that isn’t doing inhouse dining yet. My son surprised me by baking dessert for me to have with his sister and her family tomorrow and bringing it to me. It’s a gooey chocolate and caramel cake. He’s so much my kid. 🙂 My daughter-in-law sent me a lovely note thanking me for letting him celebrate with me today so she can have tomorrow off from their shop to spend with her mom.

    • Somebody says:

Glad you had a nice day with your son. I would have FREAKED over the snake, but we have lots of poisonous snakes in Florida.

Enjoy your visit with your daughter, SIL and grandkids!

      • elliesmom says:

It helps there are no venomous snakes here. There weren’t any where I grew up, either, so my relationship with them is different. They aren’t even “pests”. They eat other things that are. They often startle me when they appear places I don’t expect them to be, but that’s different than fear. There are still a lot of people around here who are afraid of snakes. There’s something about them, dangerous of not, that people find frightening. For me, growing up on a farm, they were welcome to coexist with us because they were helpful in controlling other things that caused damage. It’s kind of like this. People love to find deer in their yards. They’re beautiful, graceful creatures that humans don’t find to be scary. But a deer family can wreak havoc in a garden in a few hours. As can a bunny family. My dad would have traded deer and rabbits for snakes anyday.

Hello everyone, most especially all the Mom’s here.
I’ve been struggling all evening on to post this comment or not.
Its going to be embarrassing, shameful, but at this time I feel I must, the sands of time for me is running out, so if I don’t get this on the record, we’ll this is my chance.
First, a little background on my Mother.
Married very young, I’m her first born out of two sons.
After Mom’s divorce from a abusive husband, my dad, she saved and sacrificed to send both myself and brother to parochial school.
    Now here’s the embarrassing part.
As I do to often I was drunk, stinking blaspheing drunk, lashing out to anything.
I’ve mellowed, so not too often anymore.
But I fell into bed still carrying on,such a ugly thing to confess, but, well it happened.
As I was continuing my tirade, ok, buckle up, here it comes, I had a vision of my Mother, just smiling, an Angelic face, but I knew, I knew it was her.
A Mother’s love never ever stops.
    No word’s, just a smile.
I slept a peaceful sleep that night.
    Never happened again.
I’ve rambled on to long, but to all you wonderful Mom’s ,thank you for your sacrifices and pain in carrying us and bringing us into the world.
Thanks for listening, till that time, take care and stay safe. Love to all!

    • Anthony says:

That’s a beautiful experience, Cisco. It was real, believe me. Love lives on much longer than this bag of flesh and bone we’re trapped in for a while; it transcends linear time, space and form. I know this for sure, so know in the depths of your heart and soul that she indeed did smile, that she indeed did visit you at the exact moment you needed her love and her smile the most.

If you knew more about me, you would know why I can be so emphatic about this, but for now, please take my word for it. Happy Mother’s Day to Mama Cisco, and recall her smile whenever you need her.

Take a great film like “Man on Fire” which ASIS Tony Scott and FOX Murdoch released in the year we invaded Iraq for not being involved in faking 9/11. Poor little rich girl is kidnapped by the barrio underground, and very sympathetic CIA assassins Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken spend two packed hours blowing poor Mexicans away in all kinds of creative ways. Hollywood is genius at this. The whacky and talented propagandists at the OZ/NZ secret service are a big part of the problem … yes, from the Assange/Chomsky fake-left to the Murdoch/Gibson fake-right. They are super geopolitical racists. We outsource a lot of our bigotry to the Five Eyes.

Imagine a world where non-lefty media and conservative pundits thought they might, oh I don’t know, use their perch to explain conservative views and people in a way that didn’t include accepting and promoting every leftist framing of the last few decades. Crazy thought, I know.
