FDA Authorizes Antibody Cocktail as COVID-19 Prevention Treatment
BY TOM OZIMEK August 3, 2021 Updated: August 3, 2021 biggersmaller Print
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized a monoclonal antibody cocktail as a measure to prevent infection in some groups of people who were exposed to the CCP virus, the pathogen that causes COVID-19.

The FDA on Friday announced that it had revised its emergency use authorization (EUA) for REGEN-COV, a treatment consisting of jointly administered casirivimab and imdevimab, expanding its use beyond just the treatment of patients who test positive for the virus.

While the product remains authorized for treating confirmed COVID-19 patients over age 12 who are at high risk of severe illness, the agency said the drug combo can now be given to high-risk groups as a measure after exposure to prevent progression of the disease.

The antibody treatment is only authorized for use in people who have been exposed to the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, not as a pre-exposure preventive measure, the FDA said.

The agency added that REGEN-COV should only be used as a post-exposure prophylaxis by people who are not fully vaccinated or whose immune systems are unlikely to mount an adequate response to the virus, like those who take immunosuppressive medications or who are otherwise immunocompromised.

“Prophylaxis with REGEN-COV is not a substitute for vaccination against COVID-19,” the FDA noted, while urging people to get the shot.

The FDA said the primary data driving the expansion of the emergency use authorization for REGEN-COV were based on a Phase 3 clinical trial that was randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled. The trial found an 81 percent reduction in confirmed symptomatic COVID-19 cases in people testing negative at the start of the study and who had household contact with people who were infected with the virus.

They want to tax every mile you drive. What would the result of that be? You don’t need to go anywhere. Stay home in your little rental unit.

    • elliesmom says:

That’s a tax on country folks.

      • swanspirit says:

And already overburdened truckers. Which of course increases so many other costs.

        • Mothy67 says:

There is something in the package about assisting women and minorities into the trucking business. WTF is that? The transportation industry is begging for CDL licensed drivers. They will pay you to go to school.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

Guessing they want to lower the bar as I know several women who tried and they could not make the cut. Bonus for the benedicks: then people will really want to stay off the roads.

      • Somebody says:

We already have inflation, a mileage tax will put inflation on steroids. Think about all the semi trucks that move goods around our country. In some cases there will be a double or triple tax on some goods. Lumber immediately comes to mind, logs go to sawmill, cut lumber goes to wholesaler and/or big box warehouses, then finally is shipped to stores or customers. In some cases lumber goes to fence manufacturer or furniture maker and then finally gets shipped to a store or customer.

Lumber is already up something like 300%. The Biden administration will choke the timber industry with environmental regulations. Then add in the mileage tax, the cost of a home or many home repairs is suddenly 5 or 6 times more than just a year ago. Nobody’s salary went up 5 or 6 times, well nobody except maybe Hunter Biden.

    • Mothy67 says:

Expect a VAT some time soon.

    • jadzia1971 says:

I assume the purpose of this is to get people who drive electric cars now that they are becoming more common (and eventually mandated?). Those folks are evading the gas taxes!

    • Constance says:

They are trying to “get” electric and hybrid car drivers. I have to pay a $80. fee each year because I drive a 2005 Prius and they don’t feel they get enough gas tax from me to pay for their roads.

    • jadzia1971 says:

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this bullshit starting here because Macron is really going nuts over the injections. We are still holding out. Reunion Island just got locked down, which is personally frustrating because I’m in the middle of buying a rental apartment there and you know my mortgage payments aren’t gonna stop just because I can’t get tenants in during house arrest.

    • Mothy67 says:

I just peaked at Germany’s numbers. Neither their infection rates or deaths warrants that.

      • jadzia1971 says:

I STILL don’t know anybody (either personally or in a friend-of-a-friend kind of way) who has gotten seriously ill, and I know a lot of folks who have tested positive over the last year and a half. I feel gaslighted and defeated–like, why are my apparently lying eyes seeing something so very different than my countrymen?

        • Mothy67 says:

I only know of one person and that is one of brat’s friend’s mom and that could have just been the flu as we now know. I hear of people all the time though.

          • Somebody says:

I do personally know people that died from covid and/or were seriously ill. I know more people that tested positive and recovered.

Did any of them actually have flu? Who knows, it’s possible. Why some seemed to just have the sniffles, some seemed to have a bad flu and some ended up in the hospital, in ICU or dead is a mystery to me. I can point to logical reasons for some, he was 93, she’s obese.

All that logic goes out the window with some of them though. My niece’s husband? A 33 year old construction worker. He seemed to recover, was going to be released the next day, but had a massive heart attack and died. One of the mom’s on my brother’s baseball team? 31 years old, gym rat, thin, into organic foods, never smoked, blah, blah. She survived but spent 10 days in ICU.

It’s just really odd how some shrug it off and others struggle. I truly question if they all had the same thing.

          • Somebody says:

To clarify, my brother coaches my nephew’s baseball team…..he doesn’t own a baseball team🤣

          • Mt.Laurel says:

Good thing too, as I am sure there is a new tax for that ⚾️ . After all, they have gone after those pesky kids running illicit lemonade stands,

          • Mothy67 says:

I didn’t mean to imply that it doesn’t exist. I just doubt some of the deaths and believe it was all to create whatever is that have planned to reset. It shocks me that nothing is being done about the ltc murders. Some estimates put that total up to 50% in a handful of states. It’s why I think cuomo is being held somewhat accountable for being a pig. They had to pump up those numbers to make Trump look bad.

          • jeffhas says:

            “to make Trump look bad”

This is all it ever was – all over the globe – to infinity.

They HAD to get rid of him.

            That is my humble opinion.

Restaurant owners in NYC are up in arms about the new “Show me your papers!” mandate. Things are going to get very interesting up here…

    • Mothy67 says:

I wonder if that’s what they want? They didn’t stop Soho from being destroyed, but I bet they’d jump at the chance to shut down working people protests

      • Anthony says:

There were several neighborhoods that were burnt down and looted besides SOHO. Midtown is still a dangerous combat zone, but nobody talks about it.

    • jadzia1971 says:

The deadline to impose the injection requirement at restaurants etc. was delayed to August 9 and I am really, really interested to see what happens. After the first wave of restrictions I was consistently seeing articles in the mainstream media (like Le Figaro, Le Monde, La Nouvelle Republique) consistently reporting that cinemas, gyms and other places affected were seeing their visitors/customers decrease by a whopping 50-70%. We all know that restaurants don’t have that kind of profit margin. What percentage of customers can a typical resto afford to lose?

I am still holding out. Anticipate that the new rules will save me a lot of money, but that will be offset by all the fines I’ll be pulling the next time they impose an outdoor (in the freaking COUNTRYSIDE) mask mandate because I am DONE. That said, I am currently saving a shitload of money because I’ve temporarily just stopped doing business–no hard feelings towards the proprietors, but I’m just Over It–with anybody who requires me to wear a mask. I’ll go back when this bullshit is behind us. That’s like 300 euros a month in coiffeur and institut de beaute alone! And so much money saved at the regular grocery store–it’s all Chronodrive (an Internet supermarket where you just go and pick up) now, which means no more impulsive ice-cream or whatever purchases.

Bottom line, I’m just done, done, done with this. I’ve got painful scars (long story) right where the strings of the masks rub and I’m sick of hurting every time I leave the house. Sick of the intermittent panic attacks. Sick of the fogging up glasses. Sick of having to run back home every time some kid forgets the damn mask even though I ask them like three times whenever we get into the car. D U N done.

      • Anthony says:

I’m pretty much done with this bullshit too. Hopefully, even more speakeasies will pop up as they did during the first lockdown.

        • elliesmom says:

Last night on one of the Fox shows a guest pointed out only 33% of African-Americans in NYC have been vaccinated. Barring unvaccinated people from businesses bars 67% of the AA population.

          • jadzia1971 says:

Sounds like a potentially interesting disparate-impact case regarding the discrimination in access to public accommodations. Problem is, who do you sue? The businesses are acting under the government’s orders; the government has sovereign immunity (not absolute, but it’s a bar to get over).

          • Anthony says:

Isn’t that racist by prog standards?

          • Mt.Laurel says:

They keep trying to push that is only deplorables that are not vaccinated. But the numbers say otherwise. Especially in the blue cities.

    • swanspirit says:

The most purposeful scare is working on some people. I just had a guest cancel her trip here, because of the damned Delta variant. She was coming to look at houses, because she is planning on moving here. But she isn’t coming now. I think it’s so sad, when people are so frightened. But people in power depend on it. They want us in lockdown, with masks, not driving anywhere. This is going to backfire so highly on them. We can’t have a new variant every election. You can fool some of the people some of the time…….

      • Miranda says:

We’ve canceled our October trip to Vegas because we were hoping the mask mandates would be lifted on the airlines by then. I doubt that happens, plus, I figure the WSOP (World Series of Poker) will either require masks or be canceled.

Tucker Carlson has been doing his nightly show from Budapest this week. His nightly show has little to do with being in Budapest. He’s there for a documentary he’s doing with Prime Minister Orban. During his night time show he’s giving a little tour of the city, and it’s gorgeous, with a teaser here and there about the show he’s taping. The leftwing media is going spastic over this trip labeling Orban a totalitarian dictator. Whenever they go after Carlson, I know he’s over a good target. I know a fair amount about Hungary’s geopolitical history, but not a lot about its present day. Merkel appears to be channeling Germany’s past, which must be giving Hungarians some pause. I don’t know when the documentary will show up, but it looks to be interesting. For now, I’m just enjoying the beautiful architecture and the pearl clutching.

  9. Mothy67 says:

I’m suspicious about throwing St. Cuomo out like this. If he even resigns or is impeached. There must be some ulterior motive, but I’m watching X-files so everything is a conspiracy. It would almost make sense if they wanted us all vaxxed so we could be enslaved by the alien race.

Sanctuary city of El Paso federal judge…

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone of El Paso agreed with the Justice Department, which accused Governor Greg Abbott (R) of potentially worsening the spread of the virus – as impeding the transfer of undocumented migrants would prolong the detention of unaccompanied children in “increasingly crowded” facilities, according to the Associated Press.

Also, I find this kind of hilarious in light of the fact that Macron and his ministers have been openly calling the “hesitant” uneducated and stupid. I’ve got more of an education than most of those guys, but ok.

These are also the same folks who stuck their foot in it right after Macron’s election by saying the same thing about women (in Africa, no less) who have too many children, apparently by bobo Parisian standards.

  20. 1539days says:

So, after about 17 months, I’ve finally be “exposed” to COVID officially. Except being home from work next week, I’m not sure how this turns out. Supposedly, my employer wants me to take a COVID test and I really hope it’s not one that goes up my nose. Actually, weren’t those tests pulled for not being accurate?

  21. Mothy67 says:

Was obama’s birthday announcement a stunt so they can go after Trump for rallies? Look how magnanimous oblahblah was thats how a former president should act. He cancelled his own party and now he’s going to have to eat cake and icecream all alone and he can’t get the deposit back on the bouncy house.
