Labor Day Open Thread

Sometimes longer weekends just beg for another thread 🙂 I’ll include a tribute to the WPA ladies and gents who cleared, prepared and planted the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in the 1930’s for 25 cents an hour. Now that was LABOR.

You can read about his wonderful project at his link……

Lovely article on the origins of the Norfolk Botanical/Azalea Gardens and a perfect pick to honor workers on Labor Day.

I know, perfect 🙂 My dad was in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 30s as a kid and that group built the National Parks. Got free room and board, a small paycheck he was required to send to his mom….then WW2 broke out. Wish they’d bring those programs back 🙂

Did anyone watch the new ‘woke’ Cinderella ? WTH, I have free prime and I love musicals…..

    • lyn5 says:

I’m planning to watch it. We’ll have prime until October 22. How woke was it? I don’t mind woke when the Hollywood Haters aren’t in the films.

I’ve been watching clips on Twitter and the feminists love it. I’m assuming that means Cindy chooses a career over the handsome Prince ? LOL. Fool, if she does. Idina and Billy would make it worth watching alone.

Thanks so much for the goodies, so very sweet and thoughtful of you, you’re definitely my huckleberry 😀

China really got its money’s worth from the bid-on family. covid-19 helped bid-on get elected. in turn, he weakened America in front of the world. who would ever trust us again? he rabbited out of Afghanistan, leaving a well-armed partner for China. they get minerals, heroin and bases in the ME. all this on the cheap, without firing a shot He gave the Taliban hostages, arms, and place on the world stage.

    end of rant

Had a doctor pester me on why I wasn’t vaccinated. I answered the third time: blood clots. He didn’t say anything.

    • jadzia1971 says:

My doctor didn’t say shit when I responded NO to her “are you vaccinated” question during my last visit. I’m still pretty wary of her, though–I just don’t trust her–so now I’m going to a doctor in the projects until our long national nightmare has ended.

I feel miserable today. A huge sinus headache. I’ve managed to take care of the pups except for walking Ellie. I have railroad scratches up my legs, but she’s not getting her way. I spent the day on the sofa watching TV. I got all caught up on Virgin River. Finished watching the Australian soap opera A Place to Call home. Then I found a 3-part Agatha Christie called Ordeal by Innocence. i figured most of the mystery out, but there’s a cool twist at the end. I’m going to steam up the bathroom to see if that will help. I’ll have to see what tomorrow brings.

I am sorry you aren’t feeling well!! Sending lots of healing! The steam should help. Try honey lemon ginger tea, too. Hugs hugs hugs. You deserve rest. More hugs

    • 1539days says:

I got sucked into Australian TV with Packed to the Rafters on Tubi.

    • DeniseVB says:

Feel better {{hugs}}. Whacky seasonal weather has my head stuffed up too, hot/humid then chilly/dry…hello goldenrod 😀

    • lateblum says:

I’m sorry about your sinus headache. I know what a bear they are. One of the nurses at my eye surgeon’s office told me to use peppermint essential oil for headaches. I don’t know whether it would work on sinus headaches, but it probably wouldn’t hurt. So I bought some over the weekend. My next headache . . . I plan to rub a tiny bit at my temples.
      Feel better, em. 💕

Oregon did the same thing. Gave only black families and businesses $58 million out of $62 million budgeted.

Well I’m certain that the JoeBama regime will invest via “infrastructure”
Now let’s see, 10% for Joe and a seat at the Board for Cpt. Crack, no problemo.
