The media is spending a lot of time today reminiscing about themselves and the days where they could make up a narrative and most people would believe them. Back then, the Internet was something you had to use at home on a computer.

“But there’s good news. We’ve got them outmaneuvered. We’re smarter with how, where, and on what we spend. Furthermore, we have one advantage that the anti-freedom factions simply don’t: our message is one of truth– and you cannot keep inquisitive, open minds from discovering the truth.”

I know today is a day to reflect on somber things, and I promise you I remember very well what I was doing that day, and I’m thinking about it. But something just passed my FB feed that got me thinking about something else from the past, too.

Sunny and Klaus von Bulow’s house in Newport was just on the market for less than 10 hours and sold for $30 million. As the “summer cottages” in Newport go, it’s one of the smaller mansions, but it’s on the ocean and along Newport’s famous Cliff Walk. I remember the gates being covered with plywood painted green to block the view of the house during the trial. It was the first I’d ever really heard much about Alan Dershowitz, and suddenly he was all over the news. Whether Klaus would be convicted of the attempted murder of Sunny was the subject of as much speculation as who shot JR? I heard enough insulin jokes to last forever. What jumped out at me were the comments in the RI news today along the lines of, “would you live in a house where someone had been murdered?”

Klaus was acquitted of the charges, and Sunny lived another 28 years (in a vegetative state, of course). But word-of-mouth history has Sunny being murdered by her husband in the house and probably going from room to room and haunting the place. In the historical records von Bulow is an innocent man, and Sunny died an old lady in a nursing home. This has me thinking about what can happen to history when the people who were “there” forget.

For Denise- this is the house and if I had known it was for sale, I would have placed a bid on it for a Klown Clubhouse. We could have handled her ghost.

It makes me think of the other big trial. OJ Simpson was acquitted, but lost assets in a civil trial. That drove him to threaten people with a gun to get his memorabilia back and actually go to jail. Now, he regularly beclowns himself on social media.

Von Bulow kept a low profile after and his wife did some things that could be considered medically dangerous on her own previously. Sometimes history can also provide a view into who is a repeat offender and who had justice done.

I owe you a big thanks. While I wish it weren’t the case at least I was prepared. She told me she’s active and there may have been spaghetti thrown at me. Some tears and then lots of silence. I am going to make her pay for her phone. She wants to be an adult well that brings other responsibilities. My quagmire now is what do I do. I bear a lot of the responsibility as do his parents and grandparents. Maybe I’ll jest blame Fauci. They have been together non stop since lockdown started. He doesn’t even knock. They have such bright futures. The act itself doesn’t bother me. I wish she’d waited, but when he got the call his neighbor died. He Was Leaving Las Vegas and he did. He had been highly functioning before lockdown. Got paid to sit at home with little work. He probably had a few in the morning and carried a flask. Stuck at home it increased. He didn’t have to nip. By himself all day. He was loaded by noon. Wish someone had gotten him a dog even one of those other things that meow. He was isolated. Boy was here when he got the call. That I don’t get. Wouldn’t you want to tell your son in person. He’d known him his entire life. I saw how he cried to/with her. Then her dad died. He was at all the barbaric ritual. His parents went. I knew the two had gone somewhere that no one else in their lives could ever share. They were as intimate as you can be before the physical. I just have to figure out my role going forward. Do I tell his parents? Her mom? She has a great texting relationship with her mom. Wasn’t abandonment so much as they don’t let babies on lock down wards. Oh those years were a delight. She’d meet a dude in a psychiatric facility and he’d decide they were going to be a family. She simmered down. Has a great husband and three kids.
Blah blah blah Anyhow thank you for prepping me for the eventuality. She told me, I didn’t ask. She wanted 20 I said where’s your money. Give me your phone. Bank app. I said what’s this 35. She yelled back birth control I am paying for my own. I am having sex. Then a bit of garlic toast and some pasta went air born. I made a great greek salad. Love me greek salad. I use feta she gets regular goat cheese. We can eat it for two days. She looked at it looked at me and decided it tasted too good to be hurled.
I just have to figure out where we go from here. And try and figure out his family. They must know. I knew. I give her props for being direct. I prefer rigatoni to spaghetti but oh well. Charging her for her phone is hardly significant as I’ll spend the 50 on her.
Such a wierd situation. Do I punish her like it is something bad. Wish she had waited, but she didn’t. She took precautions. I have no idea what I am doing. None. Zip. Nada.

      • elliesmom says:

The first step is to calm down. You can’t change what’s already happened. There are no “virginity restoration pills” although Spencer’s Gifts used to sell them. Then you need to decide how comfortable you are with the two of them continuing to have sex. As her “parental unit” you have a right to set boundaries for her, but if you have a history of setting them and not following through, then they won’t mean much to her when she goes forward. So don’t set rules you have no plans to enforce. If you plan to give their continued sexual relationship your tacit approval, you could suggest behind the bleachers is not a good choice of venue. If you want to limit their opportunities, then you set rules like when he can come over, what rooms in the house he’s welcome in, doors always open etc, but it’s hard to do if you aren’t going to be vigilant.

As the mother of a son, I would like to know my kid is sexually active. If their contraception fails, and even the best does at times, the decision about what to do will be entirely Shay’s, whether that means disposing of their grandchild or putting their son financially and legally obligated to a child for the next 18 years of his life. And it won’t be his choice how that plays out. They might like to have a talk with him about that, and they might have some boundaries of their own. How you handle that depends on how well you know them. If the kids were older, I might say his folks are already assuming their son is having sex with a girl he spends so much time with, but these two are both pretty young. Shay can decide what to tell her mother. Now it’s out in the open, it will be easier.

From the stories you share about you and Shay, there seems to be a relationship between the two of you and an ATM machine so I’m not sure using money as control works all that well for the two of you, but her health insurance should be covering the contraceptives. Maybe you could help her figure that part out. And it might be time now for the two of you to talk about the HPV vaccine. ❤

I think his parents have to know. I went out with trash as his grandparents picked her up to go to a game. They live a few streets behind me in another boro. I don’t know them at all but my town calls itself a walking borough. It is centered around a flat road a top a hill from Pittsburgh. Hills are every where here. People park on Brownsville and just walk the length. Dogs and diabetics. All day. It has it’s charm. I have walked by his grandparents a gazillion times. We smile. They make comment about my bad girl if she is excited. Never exchanged names. They don’t have a mutt. Both retired cops. No way they didn’t run me. Also must know about her dad who must have loved kraft singles on white bread with a warm orange drink cause that is what they serve in county jail and he checked in a lot.
ATM I find it impossible to deny. I was so poor as a kid. Poverty extends beyond shoes. My parents were consumed by the day to dread of having electricity. I got teased for wearing the same clothes. I wanted an IZOD shirt. That was never going to happen. Even when I started working I had to contribute. Dan needed diapers. The way it was. I would get off the bus and walk blocks til I knew the bus was gone. Everyone knew where I lived but I could not let anyone see me walk in that shack. Shack is giving it credit. Awful place with a shower and sinks but out house.
I felt a lot of shame. I give into Shay because I don’t want her to ever feel that. She has her dad’s social security plus his job’s survivor benefits. College at a state school was already covered. Half her entitlement after large employer chunk already to be paid directly to school or given at 25 goes to savings. We both have to withdraw together. She gets around 600 a month. I will pay what I always paid so will my mom. We never got child support. I don’t have the power of the purse anymore. My mom married my dad at 15 and they stayed together until he died. I had a new doctor ask me how many sexual partners I had. I said are you asking about today. I am sure it’s under a 100. Oh wait I did grab a coffee so no more than 140 unless you count the construction workers at the corner. I was early for my appointment and they had on hard hats.
Honestly though she is a young adult who made a decision and told me. I have to factor all that in. Age her cousin a boy is like still a kid they are same age. I can’t see him as an adult he’s still a boy. Whether I like it or not Shay is a young adult.
No on HPV. She is not going to be pulling trains and if anyone should be worried about heart break it is boy.
Reiterate thank you. Who Else can I get feedback from? My college friends each and everyone drugs their children. Not a little anti anxiety. Hard core meds. They’d be ecstatic if their kids fucked. Have emotional zombies playing video games all day and night.

          • elliesmom says:

You don’t have to “pull a train” to contract the HPV virus. She just has to have sex with a boy who has had sex with another girl who has it. When we have sex, from a disease perspective, we’re having sex with everyone our partner has had sex with. Think about AIDS. A totally monogamous gay man can get AIDS if his partner cheats on him once. I understand why a parent might be reluctant when he thinks his daughter isn’t sexually active yet. But the odds this is the one and only sexual partner the two of them are ever going to have aren’t very good when they’ve started having sex at 15. If Shay and her boyfriend break up, and she starts dating someone else, it’s likely that new relationship will lead to sex because she’s broken through the initial hesitancy. Dating now includes sex. That doesn’t mean I’m suggesting a series of “hookups” are in her future.

          • Mothy67 says:

HPV how realistically is cervical cancer? Honest question. One of my roommates from college died from cervical cancer. She was the adopted daughter of Chelsea Clinton’s mother in law. She had untreated clap. Maybe that gave her cancer. I don’t know. She died at 50. I have one job right now. I’m the kid who gotten beaten and I don’t know how you define a 16 year old coming home from a dishwashing shift. He sees a note from his mom- can you get me a pack of Virginia Slim Ultra Light Menthols. I walked to the store. They jumped o.ut. beat me. I tried to run. They held me down with a few erections. They pissed all over me calling me faggot as they urinated on me. I got up so numb bought my mom her smokes laid them on the table. I was drenched in piss. I hated myself. I took a cushion from a lawn chair kicked in a basement window which was silly cause I was already in the house, but i went to sleep on the cold cement. I did not have one person to talk to. I got up after everyone went to school/work. Who was going to care. School didn’t. I missed 100 days but I was gay. I scored 1280 on SAT. I was drunk and on cocaine when I took test. My IQ was nothing special. 138. It puts me high average. Not one adult saw me drowning. Not one.
I made it through the rain. I have to always be there?. She will never walk in pain and have a pervert pick her up. She will not throw up violently cause she was walking alone after being beaten by her dad. I just kept walking. Guy pulled over. He took me to the woods. He made me let him blow me. I threw up because I was 15 and he was gross but I Wasnt sure were I was. I got out and maybe walked an hour.
I guess my point is I need to protect Shayla Rayne with all I have. I think HPV vax is a scam. She can get it at 16.

        • Mothy67 says:

I am her great gay uncle. Not her uncle. I had open hearts. She is a jock. I welcome all criticism. I do not know what I am doing. You give me a perspective. Funny though bout average age for sex. Ten years ago it may have been 17 but lockdown changed things. Shay said every girl has.

          • elliesmom says:

Maybe all of the girls in Shay’s group have had sex, but “everybody’s doing it” has been a standard response from kids since forever. Wasn’t true then, and it isn’t true now. This year should be a year the CDC does its poll, and it will be interesting to see if the ages of the kids having sex drops. I suspect it won’t because more kids had parents at home this year than usual.

HPV causes 70% of cervical cancer.

Here it is almost 2:30 on September 11, 2001. The last school bus has pulled out, and the parking lot is emptying out from parents who were able to pick their kids up themselves. The teachers who have little kids have been told to go home to their own children. A handful of us who have no small children have volunteered to stay at school as long as it takes to get every child handed off to a parent or designated adult. No one was allowed on a school bus unless we knew a parent would be waiting at home. As an 8th grade teacher I don’t know very many of the kids, but one little 4th grader has attached herself to me. “If no one comes for me, I’m going home with you, OK?”

Our principal had served in the Coast Guard, and he worked quickly. When he heard the Towers had gone down, he flipped the switch that linked our classrooms to the internet. Then he locked all of the doors. He posted a message on the school’s website asking parents to please not rush to the school and frighten the kids. He put a similar recording on the school’s parental message phone. Then he pulled each of his teachers out into the hallway one by one, told us what was going on, asked us not to tell the kids, and to come down to office when he hit our prep period. The school was about 10 miles from Hanscomb Airforce Base, and we could hear the planes scrambling. When I went back into my classroom, I must have looked upset because the kids asked if Mr. Brooks had yelled at me over something they had done. I told them no, but the year was early yet.

When I arrived for my turn in the office, the task was laid out for me. We had 650 students and no phone line capable of recording calls while we talked. For most calls we were going to be talking to parents about when we could hand off their children to them and recording those calls wasn’t an issue, but we had military kids whose parents had just been locked down, and parents stuck at airports around the country. If their instructions didn’t match what we already had in writing, we needed a legal record of what they wanted us to do. I came up with the idea of asking those parents to call the “absent line” and leave us instructions.

By the end of the school day we had secured a place with an adult in charge for all 650 kids although it meant a few of us would be working late. Miraculously, all of the kids were still clueless. No cellphones yet. It had been a completely normal day. A few minutes before dismissal, our calm and collected principal shared had happened with the kids. He wished them a safe night in the arms of the people who loved them and said he’d be waiting to greet them at the front door in the morning- just like he always did. After the rush of kids left, some of the older kids wanted to see what was happening on the TV while they waited for pickup. He took them into his conference room and watched with them. The little kids came to the science lab and helped me care for my fish. There’s a reason why a dentist’s offices has fish.

He and I locked the building down just after 6:30. My little 4th grader and I became friends for the next 5 years and beyond. I went home and found my future son-in-law had made me dinner. There were kindergarten teachers in New Jersey who had half their students lose a parent so I consider I had an “uneventful day”.

Oh yeah! The Progressives fail to realize they spent 4 years normalizing this sort of behavior. And with the election audits they still haven’t figured out that even if the election of 2020 isn’t straightened out the ways the Progressives cheated have been exposed to everyone. So either we tighten up election security or next time we will have Progressive rigging, Libertarian rigging, and yes even Republican rigging. They may not be bright enough to come up with the system on their own but they sure as hell can copy it. We are going to have 5 times as many votes certified as there is population but you know we had more voters than citizens certified in 2020 and it’s been established that no one gives a shit and no one paid a price so let’s go for it in 2022!
I have actually read that Trump won by a lot in 2016, but the Democrats did rig that election for Hillary. However the Russians also broke into the system and rigged it back to Trump. And that is the reason the Progressives kept blubbering about Russians in 2016, they knew who out-rigged them.
