Last night I mentioned I was reading a book about evolutionary biology. There’s one passage where the authors are headed into the Amazon rainforest with their two young boys and a group of undergraduate students, and they’re having a discussion about assessing acceptable risks. It immediately reminded me of a “family discussion” my dad had with us at the beginning of one summer.

“You’ve been upsetting your mother lately so we need to set down some rules. You may break your arms, legs, and collarbones. You may not fracture your skulls or spinal columns. You may go as far away from the house as you like as long as you’re home before dark. It would be nice if you gave your mother a hint of what direction you’re heading. It’s embarrassing to admit to the police she has no idea where her children are. If you must burn the house down, please make sure there’s no one in it first. If you’re planning something that might be a stupid thing to do, run it by your sister first.”

    The boys were 13, 14, and 16. I was 5.

em, What a wise and loving Dad .
      You were truly blessed. ❤

      • elliesmom says:

Yes, I was. His conversation with my mom ahead of time probably went like this. “You need to talk to the boys. They’re swinging from the rafters in the barn. One of these days one of them will fall and crack his skull or break his back. They take off on their bicycles and don’t come home until they get hungry. If someone else fed them, I’d have to send the cops after them, and what kind of mother doesn’t know where her children are? You give them chores to do I don’t think they’re old enough to handle. One day they’re going to burn the house down with all of us in it. They don’t have the sense of a 5 year old.”

The fun part is when I was a teen, I was allowed to go into Boston shopping or to a ballgame without adult supervision. Not because I was more trustworthy. Mom grew up in the city, and those were dangers she knew how to manage. So she figured I could, too.

        • Mothy67 says:

          Sounds like an awesome guy.

          • elliesmom says:

Yes, he was. He provided structure and stability. My mom provided the creativity and the fun. My maternal grandmother lived with us, and she was in charge of making us civilized adults. The three of them together were awesome parents.

          • Mothy67 says:

It’s interesting to see what kids pick up and who influences them. Shay can draw, can put together an outfit from my dress shirts and do a sort of Annie Hall who she never heard of. I can’t make a stick figure, but she creates a disaster in her room, like those things they used to call tornadoes went through. Then she puts it all together ever so neatly. I do the same thing. Oh, I tried to have her make her bed everyday as I hear it’s healthy. No use. Her organization skills or lack thereof are just like mine. Love of sports from my dad.
Tonight is her first dance, Homecoming at boy’s school. I was not thrilled with dress length.

          • elliesmom says:

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this video or not. This is just a clip. Nana was in charge of overseeing whether beds got made in the morning. If I got off to a late start and left my bed unmade, my mom would sneak into my room and do it for me. But then I “owed her one”, and she always collected later. My grandkids make their beds at my house, but not at home. I’ve never insisted they do. Crash says she likes to make her bed here. I do have the things that make her bed pretty for her. I suspect she might be making her brother’s bed, too.

          • Mothy67 says:

I can agree completey with him. When I got sentenced not really sentenced but had to spend 9 months in rehab some of the guys I lived with in a house had to have structure without it they spun out of control. I lived 9 long months with ten men who had spent time in prison. It was an education. Kids who’d never had any guidance. Rules were you made your bed before getting in prison van to be taken to group therapy all day. I had more of an education than anyone involved including all staff. It’s a scam, but it costs NY State less than prison and most didn’t need to be jailed. It was quite the experience. Skinny white gay guy with a college education living with a rotating cast of characters just released from prison. i was scared to death. I met great people and some very tragic.
Pup is very creative. Last year against my wishes she considered going to the tech school. All her advanced classes could be done in am and practical stuff at county votech. It sounded reasonable, but they had a “pusher” selling it. 9th was fine but to stay on her track she has to be in the high school. Her friends were all going tech. I wasn’t going to let it happen, but had to figure out how to make it her decision. Super hero without a cape, her art teacher, said you have way too much talent. What she needed to hear. Her stuff is good. Art teacher emphasized her math skills and how it will help her if she decides to pursue art. I was so grateful. Her closest friends remained at high school after brat said no to tech. Meg’s mom called me and said thanks, I said don’t thank me thank the teacher. I was prepared to battle. Tech schools are great and I am willing to pay for the same classes which are offered, but she doesn’t want to be a plumber.
Anyhow I see worth in making the bed, but I also see worth in letting her get there on her own. I made no issue of the busted party last year. Two sets of parents used physical punishment and lockdowns that would make fauci proud. They are in even more trouble this year. Breaking in to school, lots of pot, drinking. I guess it depends on individual kids. The more responsibility pup gets the better she acts.
She would laugh hysterically if I said you do not leave this house until your bed is made. It would make no sense coming from me. No such thing as one right way.

As a teacher, parent, grandparent do you believe girls mature faster than boys or do you think it’s situational? I have/had a good friend whose kid is same age as idgit. She has had him doped up for a number of reasons. He’s like Shay was at ten. Mother decides at 15 to become distressed. Kept him numb for years on the advice of like Hopkins caliber psychiatrists. He is showing no interest in the other or same sex. She can find no evidence. I was like you look for it? That’s mama bate’s creepy. He probably uses the shower. Anyhow he is just 15. Aunt Flo stopping by changes girls. Boys don’t have that. Changes happen but not like that. She waited until 40 to start. The right house, the right husband, private schools, white picket fence. Kid was supposed to follow her plan. Big difference having your first at 40 as opposed to 30. I have it somewhat easy. I saw what hell pup faced and said no. It was my choice to stick around. I decided to be Norma Rea in a filthy welfare fecal matter smelling daycare. Shay was there with chubby arms and sad eyes reaching for a guy she had met twice with relief. I decided to pick her up. My friend had children that I believe she loves but they aren’t following her plan. I wonder if one day I will read about school shooting. I have expressed it to her. You can’t dope developing kids. Might add she supports social workers over police. She will not take any responsibility for her children. Pukes out platitudes like it takes a village and we are all in this together. No we may need each other but to raise a kid takes parentS. Her son acted out as kids do. She medicated and now she wonders why his sexual interests are zero. What the freud are pills doing to kids? Scary shit. They are private school kids in the beltway.

        • elliesmom says:

It’s completely normal for a 15 year old to not have engaged in sex yet, male or female. In the hierarchy of how old people are when they first have sex, lesbians tend to be the youngest, followed by gay boys, and lastly straight kids. That coupled with your apparent need to prove to yourself Shay is not precocious when it comes to sex might be coloring your preoccupation with the sexual habits of teens lately. This kid’s mother can assure herself her son has discovered masturbation. It’s instinctual and doesn’t need to be taught. That he has picked up the cues that it’s a private act says he’s socially aware of the world he lives in. Mom should respect his privacy, and that includes discussing this with you. While more boys are given drugs for ADHD than girls, a large number of teenage girls are on anti-depressants and some are having their hormones manipulated for contraception. Drugging kids is not limited to one sex or the other. ADHD does not have an effect on a kid’s ability to have sex. The drugs the kids are prescribed are amphetamines.

We sexualize little girls from the time they’re toddlers so the physical maturation of their bodies is noticed and discussed more than the maturing of boys. The reality is, though, by the time a girl’s body is capable of becoming pregnant, her male peers are fully capable of impregnating her. Girls tend to be more socially conforming and compliant than boys, and that often gets mistaken for maturity, but they are just as immature as the boys. They engage in just as much risky behavior although it often nanifests itself differently. I believe you’ve experienced the “teen girl two-year old temper tantrum” yourself.

In elementary school the emphasis is on the kids learning to read, write, do basic computation, and following the rules. Those things are all things the average little girl is better at than the average boy. It’s not that the girls are smarter than the boys. It’s that we’ve built school inside the girls’ wheelhouse. When the kids reach 12 or so, unless they’re in school in Baltimore, the assumption is the kids have basic literacy skills, can figure out how to count their money, and know the rules of school. While those things continue to be taught, abstract concepts requiring analysis get added the the curriculum. In 8th and 9th grade we get to see a lot of the boys move closer to the top of the class. Are the girls incapable of making the leap? No, of course not. but now a lot of them are being asked to move out of their comfort zone. Some of them do it and even go on to enter fields not traditionally populated with women. Others continue to be highly successful students by avoiding taking classes that aren’t in their comfort zone. Girls don’t avoid calculus because they can’t do it. They just don’t want to try and risk failure. Lots of times because they have been socialized not to compete with the boys. Teenage girls often devote more time building up a boyfriend’s ego than working on their own self-esteem. It’s one of the dangers of early sexual pairing off for girls. It’s sad to see so many of them choose being the second banana at 14 or 15, especially when the choices of who to be second banana to are so limited.

Now get a hobby that isn’t speculating about what a 15 year old boy might be doing in his shower. 🙂

          • Mothy67 says:

Wasn’t me. She brought it up and she was concerned that he isn’t masterbating. He’s on a lot more than adhd. Seroquil and a few others. They have been drugging him since at least age 7. It’s actually very sad. They’ve tried to ween him off, but then he can’t function at all. I think he’d probably need inpatient until his body acclimates. I understand why she turned to meds. He was out of control. I believe it should have been coupled with some serious family talk therapy, but the meds worked for a few years and now he’s well on his way to adulthood and lacks some pretty basic skills. There are no intelligence or health issues. More like intermittent explosive disorder. Again wasn’t me who brought it up.

    • DandyTIger says:

Love that! What a difference structure and adults around make. We went a bit wild as kids, but we never went too far. OK, there were some broken bones and stitches here and there, but we walked those off. 🙂

AZ audit demonstrates that least 50k illegal votes (stuffing the ballot box) most of which came in after 11/4 when they knew how many votes Biden needed, many without any signatures whatsoever were counted & media’s sole focus is that the actual # of ballots is the same as initially reported to claim “audit proves Biden won.”

Their blatant lying now is proof they were in on it.

    • DeniseVB says:

The media hates Trump more and would like nothing more than to keep him down. Treasonous bastards.

    • Constance says:

I only listened to the AZ senate hearing once and it’s a hard listen because some of the speakers are horrible “So I ah well we looked um at the ah numbers and ah um then I a we…” there are some weird details that they only glossed over, but seem major. I think they are still looking at it. One is while reconstructing the info that was removed from the second hard drive they came across election data from Washington state. So AZ computers that they swore were never connected to the internet somehow got WA election data on them. Also there are around 250,000 votes that are in one data base but do not appear in another data base. Something is very odd there. It looks like there is a larger electronic voter interference they are still running down but it is true there are around 50,000. old fashioned vote tampering ineligible votes they included in the total. So, I agree if you can count fake votes in an election then you can pay the IRS with fake money.

It was dislike and resentment of one intelligence agent that allowed 9/11 to happen. He had all the evidence of what was coming but because his superiors felt threatened by him they shut him out, shut him down and eventually he walked — to the NY Port Authority, where he was killed that day. There is a documentary about him, and what happened. The tyranny of small minds.

What was/is Bobby Kennedy’s relationship with George Soros? Good question worth a long ponder. The important thing for now to understand is that George Soros Liberace Rockefeller-Rothschild was/is a Jesuit Catholic and not Ashkenazi “Jewish”. The Kennedys are also Orange Catholic and Jesuit. Bobby Kennedy is Michael Corleone, and George Soros is Bruno Tattaglia. They are both from PAV Uncle Sam.
