My Scout troop said, “No one ever writes songs sbout where we live” so I taught this one to them sitting around a campfire. When we went to Boston, they wanted to follow Charlie’s route for fun. The problem was when the “MTA” became the “MBTA”, they made some other changes, too. Fortunately, I could tell them Scollay Square is now Government Center and things like that, but there was one change that made the song completely obsolete. You now pay when you get on instead of when you get off the train. I wonder if the song was why they changed it? 🙂

A few minor victories this weekend. An acquaintance from Korea came to visit this weekend. She’s a medical professional (a dentist) and a millennial, and she is from a country that has long been accustomed to masking at least in some situations, and I was fully expecting a request to wear a mask in my own damn house, a vax lecture, the whole nine years. Zip nada rien nothing. We went to the Roman chapel across the street and, having forgotten my mask, I told her and the kids and H-man to just go in without me, at which point the elderly guide marched his ass outside and told me to come in, I was a good excuse for him not to wear one.

This morning I got an email from the agency sending a manicurist to my house that I had to wear a mask. I sent a NICE email canceling and saying that’s fine, but it’s my house and I choose not to, so I’ll reschedule once the rules change, no hard feelings. Less than one hour later, the manicurist called me and said NO PROBLEM HERE, I’ll just come outside the auspices of the agency. So now she has a new client (I’m sure she makes a lot more not having to give the agency a cut) and I don’t have to wear a mask in my own damn house.

It’s not being “allowed” to spend money at a restaurant or hotel, but it’s something.

Agree. AZ as well as the other states need to do something, and AZ is the logical first step. If they do nothing, we all know the idea of voter integrity is gone forever, if it ever was even close to existing before.

Maybe it’s we the people that need to give them an ultimatum. At least the mostly GOP leaning voters. Tell them if they don’t fix it, we’ll skip voting in ’22 and ’24. Maybe they’d be happy with that. But there is no point if they don’t.

Today’s project for me is to make myself a real pair of pants- fitted waist, zipper fly, welt pockets with button loop closures. The kind of pants that need to fit right. I can make a pair of knit pants with an elastic waist in an hour or two, but these are more of a project. I always like to have at least one pair of pants that could substitute for a skirt and still be appropriate for a skirt suit event. What has caused this project to move to the “need to do” pile is I no longer have any fitted style pants that fit. I have a pattern for pants I really like, and the first time I used the pattern, I cut out a size 20. Today’s pants will be a size 12. To put this into what I see on the scales, a 1/3 of me has disappeared. Last winter it looked like I had reached a place where the weight loss had stopped, but then without making any more changes, the weight started dropping again. While I’m not yet at what I weighed in college, I am where I was when I started teaching. That job wreaked havoc wih my eating habits. My doctor has been a marvelous coach and cheerleader. No “dieting”. No long hours of working out a gym, No money to WW, Jenny Craig, or Nutrisystem. No gimmicks or gadgets. Just taking the time to figure out why and when I was eating and changing those two things. A warm cinnamon bun right from the oven is fine if I’m eating it because I’m hungry. ❤

    • swanspirit says:

Congratulations, I know it still takes effort. I am still losing, doing intermittent fasting, although it is slow, it is is gratifying to see less of me in the mirror. 😀

      • elliesmom says:

This has taken me years. The first few months were hard, but since then it’s become something I don’t even think about. It’s subtle. When I used to see an interesting recipe, I’d think, “That looks good. The next time I’m bored I’ll make that.” Now my head says I’ll make it the next time I’m hungry. I used to feel I had to be one of the last people to put my fork down to be sociable and polite. Kind of like when the Queen finishes eating, the meal is over whether other people want more or not so she doesn’t put her fork down until most other people have finished. I have acknowledged I am not the Queen, and I can sit and chat without lifting food into my mouth. I went through an intermediate step of pouring myself another glass of wine instead, but Elliesdad ate very slowly so that had it downsides, too. 😉

A study on the front of page of NY Post today said that quitting smoking may result in weight gain. Seriously. They probably dropped a few hundred grand to come to that conclusion. Is there anyone who didn’t realize that? Not only do people replace a habit but nicotine is a stimulant. Models often smoke 2 packs a day. Somebody approved the study.. Snow is cold.

          • elliesmom says:

I’ve never smoked, but becoming a teacher was a real life change for my relationship with food. Breakfast before 6 am or on the run. A 21 minute lunch that included escorting the kids to the cafeteria. A “prep period” where I could grab some food, but it came at a different time everyday. Getting home from school around 5, but the family wasn’t ready for dinner until 7 or later most nights. Finishing up around nine, getting ready for the next day and falling into bed in time to get up at 5:30 am. I was eating 80% of my calorie intake in one sitting just before bed everyday. Losing weight didn’t require changing what I ate as much as pacing out when I ate it, giving my body an opportunity to tell me it was full instead of eating quantities that fit into the time I had to eat it. When I got comfortable with knowing what being normally hungry feels like and what it feels like when my body is telling me it’s full, it got easy. Walking Ellie everyday is exercise she and I enjoy. No weight loss plan works for everyone. I was lucky to have a doctor who is a terrific listener.

It’s one of the stupidest displays of government incompetence and ideological knuckleheadedness in recent history. From Ace …

Meanwhile, Mexican cartels have ordered their human traffickers to deliberately provoke more confrontations with Border Patrol, to make some photographs that the American media will then propagandize to get Border Patrol removed from the border.

After the Biden regime scapegoated Border Patrol agents for doing their job protecting the Texas border last week, Mexican drug cartels have reportedly ordered their smugglers to provoke more confrontations with agents so Democrats and their allies in the media will misconstrue their actions as excessive force, and more agents are “forced off the line.”

FOX News correspondent Lara Logan reported on Twitter Monday that according to law enforcement sources in the Rio Grand Valley, two vicious drug trafficking syndicates–the Gulf Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)–have determined that U.S. Border Patrol agents are unprotected under the Biden administration.

“Agents advised there will be no support from Chief Ortiz at the top, they are on their own & to expect things to get much worse,” Logan tweeted. Raul L. Ortiz became the 25th Chief of the United States Border Patrol on August 15, 2021.

Deb Heine reports that the Biden Administration knows that there’s a covid outbreak wherever it stealthily infiltrates illegals, but of course will not share this information with the public.

Border Patrol agents reacted to Joe Bidens threat against those who were just doing their job with stunned outrage.

“Would you go to work and do your best knowing that if you do your boss is going to “make you pay’? one agent told Fox News. “I’m dumbfounded and dont know what to say.”

The agent asked, “Is the president threatening to throw us in prison?”

Another said: “I see the administration wants to fry our agents. He just started a war with Border Patrol.”

Well, this is exactly how they create open borders without having to make the unpopular and possibly impeachable order to throw the borders open — they just start telling border patrol officers that anytime the media gets mad at them, they might be fired or even imprisoned.

The agents get the message, and the border is opened. And Biden can say that, on paper, we’re still ” ” ” enforcing the border. ” ” ”

Governor Abbot says that any Border Patrol officers fired by Biden will be immediately hired by Texas.

The state of Texas will provide jobs to any Border Patrol agents who may be fired by the federal government over the “whipping” hoax that has been spread by the mainstream media in recent days, the New York Post reports.

Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) made the announcement in an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” declaring that these agents will “have a job in the state of Texas. I will hire you to help Texas secure our border.”

Important information regarding the Covid Cooties that could save a life!

A simple and inexpensive device saved my daughter’s life.
Last March, my daughter, a 43-year-old healthy mother of five, was the last person in her family to be infected with COVID-19. The others recovered quickly, but she clearly had a bad case of the disease. I asked my brother, a retired doctor who lives in the US, what steps we could take, to know if and when the virus actually attacked her lungs.

My brother suggested we use an inexpensive home oximeter, which looks like a large plastic clothespin and is attached to one’s middle finger, to monitor my daughter’s blood oxygen level. My brother’s suggestion was inspired by an April 2020 article written in The New York Times by Dr. Richard Levitan, a seasoned emergency medicine doctor, based on his experience with COVID-19 patients in New York City.
In the case of normal pneumonia, when a person’s lungs become infected, a lack of oxygen (“hypoxia”) can ensue, leading the person to feel shortness of breath, and prompting her to take action to receive help. But Dr. Levitan noted that many patients with COVID-19 pneumonia lack oxygen without feeling shortness of breath, so they do not ask for help until hypoxia is severe, and arrive at the hospital “too late,” with badly damaged lungs. He called this condition, seemingly unique to COVID-19 patients, “silent hypoxia.” Dr. Levitan suggested that COVID-19 patients identify this condition early by using home oximeters, in order to arrive at the hospital quickly to receive early treatment.

I bought an oximeter, gave it to my daughter, and asked her to call me if her blood oxygen level fell below the accepted value. Initially her blood oxygen level was normal, but after four days of fever, just when she seemed to be recovering, she called me at 11 p.m. one night and told me her blood oxygen level was much lower than normal. In fact, her blood oxygen level was so low it indicated a clinical emergency. “But I feel perfectly fine,” she told me.
At that moment, I knew she was suffering from silent hypoxia. Along with urgent messages from my brother and her own doctor, I was finally able to convince my reluctant daughter to hurry to the hospital’s emergency room. Her oxygen level was measured there and indeed found to be dangerously low. She was immediately given supplemental oxygen and steroids, and spent three days in critical care. Eventually she recovered. I shudder to think what might have happened if, the night she called me, she did not have a home oximeter or did not know how to use it.

I expressed my disapproval. EM gave me a few thoughts. I try to listen.
A state governor who supports abortion up to and after birth does not get to use my faith against me. What if I did something similar using Allah? I’d be crucified.
I don’t believe in miracles. I think I made it because my parents. Not sure how you will a defective heart to keep beating, but after a few minutes of a flat line I kept going. I had a very small chance of making it to four, then a heart transplant was on the table. I went in at 12 or 13 aware that things were going down hill. I had a catherization. So fun being naked on a gurney with med school students taking notes. Before results they wanted to do another. Days more in hospital looking forward to peeing myself with med students taking notes. Blast for an almost teenage boy who thinks just let me die.
I had “spontaneous” recovery. The reason they ran second tests. My heart got better on it’s own. It’s still deformed and has pig valves and teflon but not one issue. I had my surgeries mostly in 1970. According to my anesthesiologist who is from Russia I have had artificial valves longer than anyone. I was sort of a blue baby. There were several other issues but just considering the holes in my heart- most suffer from some form of retardation. I skipped second and sixth. I isn’t not smart. I had more exposure as an infant. You turn off or you turn on. IQ is a respectable high 130’s. Far from genuis. I got to be gay in a steel town. There was abuse. My parents were embarrassed. There were broken bones. Years of no discourse. We all make mistakes. Filthy, disgusting, embarrassing are not words a 17 needs to hear from parents when AIDS was killing people. Lucky me I am not crazy about being touched. I have been intimate but by the time I dared ” safe” was a thing. I had buried many friends who caught a cold, a summer cold and then were dead. My parents did not reach out to me during late 80’s early 90’s crisis. Had I gotten sick they would have said my fault. I lost so many not friends per se but i knew people who had no one.
Long story short, Shayla. No one but me to protect her from welfare daycare. My dad was astonished I said Fuck No she will never return to that place. Not as long as I breathe. We had long gotten over a busted bone and him chasing me down the road. I took on an infant. I decided she was worth than a dish rag. I stayed in Pittsburgh. My father read my books. I only had The Fountainhead. He devoured Ayn Rand went to the library and got more. Read Doestoyevsky. Pushkin my dad with an associates degree in real estate loved Pushkin. My mom who was fond of calling me filthy and disgusting often with many blows to the head knew I was the best thing for Shay. She was still working. I didn’t wake up and say today I will raise a child.
My point is from my perspective BLM destroys lives. I was ill treated by family and ostensibly by medical community, school. Yep school was very bad. It was fear of gay. It was 1983. For real they sawed me open a few times. What good does it do me to collect resentment. It’s over. I did not decide to stick around for a toddler.
BLM to me wants to deny personal responsibility. Imagine telling your child they can loot because of systemic racism???? Imagine if every time you felt slighted you burned down a city. Oh there’d be nothing left were it me.
Back to my God not anyone elses– I grew up in the Church. My darkest hours of parental abuse or having my face pissed on by sad boys in an el camino are not enough to make me turn away from God.
I should not be and yet I get to provide in my little way a path for a kid. Fifteen years have restored my faith. A governor by default who stayed silent does not get to make movkery of my faith. I believe in my brat and my nephews and nieces.

I exchanged my bed for a twin last may. It is too high for the girls to get in. They never sleep in my room unless there is a bad storm. My fa g got toxic masculinity is where they have to be when thunder strikes.
I wake up and Bell is in my bed clawing at me. No idea how her arthritic legs got her up there. I am 3/4 asleep and just say it’s okay, relax. Try petting her. Storm is raging. She won’t relax. I decide to go downstairs and have a smoke. I’d have smoked inside at 5 am but She went to the door. Bad girl never goes outside when it’s dark. She had to go out in the dark in a storm. I went downstairs, turned on flood lights and said go. I am half asleep. She stood this side of door and cried. Iwas too tired to fight so I opened door. Heard a cat crying. The brat has volleyball and softball net cages things under the deck. Cat got caught I assume because of the wind. She was trapped with paws stuck in mesh. This feral cat is, I thought, Bell’s enemy. Everybody knows her in the neighborhood. She’s fixed but she roams with a very casual strut. Bella goes nuts when she saunters by. Runs barking like crazy. My sofa is torn to shreds because Bell sees her out a window. It’s all the time.
My idiot dog got up on my bed and clawed me awake then led me down two stories and to the back yard to cut a cat out of mesh at 5 am. A cat I thought she hated. Her paw was stuck in mesh. She would let me no where near her without a hiss. I cut two strings ruining the equipment- it gave her enough slack she pulled out. Bell then chased her out of the yard. Animals are fascinating. I tried obedience school with Bella. She barks if someone comes near HER house. It’s a temperate bark, but if she no like you her bark is fierce and she will not stop. I go out on the deck and she is hanging out with deer. We have a small patch of woods behind the house. It’s basically what would be an alley for three blocks. There’s a tiny stream. It’s capped at both ends by houses. I guess they know they are safe because no fear. They leave if I go outside. No galloping away. Just turn and go. The buck will wait til kids are gone. Sometimes I think he stares at me. Bell was same way with Ori, my rabbit. I’d get up give Bad girl a carrot or celery she would walk to bunny’s cage and feed her. She played with bunny. We got Gracie, the beagle, always wants affection. Bell had a minute of jealousy that was it. It’s like she understood Gracie is needy. She’s still Alpha. I pay attention to a dog on the street and bell bell is all over me. Crying, whining, clawing. I am HERS. She never goes at another dog or walker she goes at me. How dare I make a fuss over a french pool dog. Her jealousy is Nancy Grace worthy. I love my dumb dog.

I am hearing “we are all in this together” again they were strumming that tune a year ago.
No we are not a collective. I have bitched here in the past about Ivy league friends with tree sap for kids. Dull, witless. I have known a lot of the elites. It was timing and chance. It was 1985. I had a troubled look. My first band was A Pretty Boy in Agony. First single Completely Off.
I never had a band, ever. I met Camille Paglia at an insane pool party and thought I needed to sound cool so I made up a band. It was the eighties. Everyone thought it was funny. I got lots of access from a dumb joke. And I was smitten by Paglia way back then. She speaks her mind.
Flash forward 30 plus years. I hated making just enough to not be poor planning parties. I was making very decent money.
Little girl stepped in my way. I chose to give a lot up. On me. We are only at 15 years , but a welfare baby knows an open future because I made a choice. I am no martyr. I did what I could do. I gave what I had. Did I have more than some but less than others. Not my concern. I accepted responsibility and I took it on. I literally have Ivy League friends who as pup has excelled accused me of white privilege. I had an outhouse in high school, gay and i am a great gay uncle. They said my brat gets too much???¿????????? Huh? Brat attended Pittsburgh CLO. 600 a semester. No one has to pay. If you are poor it is free. You have to get your ass out of bed and take your kids. I paid 150 a month. It’s amazing. Like Fame, the movie. Saxaphone she studied for six years. Free through the school. No one and I mean not one person did not donate instruments. I paid 25 a month for Shayla’s sax. High school got busy no time for band. Like everyone else I said keep it. I think I had to pay off a hundred. Shay started with one of Dance Mom’s studios. That lasted a week. We found an instructor 125 a month for jazz, ballet, hip hop, gymnastics. She was a Broadway dancer. Ballet was serious. Not severe. Tae Kwon do three times a week was 100. Archery was 15. Swim was included with my and my dad”s membership.
I have brat go to public school. I could swing private if I gave up food. Proggies tell me my kid has privilege? Proggies who drug or do weekly therapy to talk about bedwetting tell me my brat suffers from privilege?!?! My proggie friends actually say she is advantaged. Their future Columbine kids attend private school.
I will give all I have to mine. I am not boarding the Good Sihip Common Pop. No thank you.

Hillary, you know I’ve always respected you. I don’t equate you with Tawana. But I have not seen you lead without being driven first and foremost by global cock-blocking pink and green. I don’t think you can. That is not humanity or the world’s future. The last quarter century has been a joke and nightmare. Non-stop lying lying lying at the American people and the world.
