    Very pretty

  2. Dora says:

    Beautiful picture.

It reminds me of our trip to Colonial Williamsburg many moons ago. 🙂

  3. Dora says:

I don’t think most people care any longer who or what biden calls out!

Biden threatens to call out companies that don’t help end supply bottlenecks

  5. DeniseVB says:

Would love to bitch slap that grin off Couric’s face. Haven’t respected her since she won a “journalism” award for a Sarah Palin “gotcha” …. grrrrrrrr

    • DeniseVB says:

To make matters worse, she blames David Brooks’ ageist comment that RBG didn’t understand the question?

      • elliesmom says:

At the time of that interview Ginsburg was still on the Supreme Court. She either understood the question and answered it cogently, or she didn’t belong there, and any of her decisions that were 5 to 4 from that point on should be challenged in front of the current court.

        • DeniseVB says:

I know Katie’s hawking a book now, do we need to buy it to find out WHY she felt she needed to protect Ruth? She obviously felt she didn’t need to protect Sarah’s gotcha gaffe. Fake news with more perkiness, sigh.

        • 1539days says:

Ginsburg probably missed a lot and had to rely on the left wing of the court to tell her what to decide.

        • Constance says:

In Seattle we have a “Friends of the Library” sale twice a year in an airplane hanger. I’m sure most big cities have something similar. Hardbacks $1. Paperbacks 50 cents. You can buy all of the political books there six months after they come out. So during the year you just drop off all the books you don’t want in the return book slot and they put them in the sale. Of course they have a rare book section with expensive books since it is run by librarians you never find valuable books for $1. You can pay $50. and get into the sale for a few hours Friday night. Otherwise it’s free and open Saturday and Sunday. All the used bookstores buy the $50. ticket and push rolling suitcases through the isle to fill up.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I had thought for a long time that Ruth was, for all intents, drugged to the max and not fully cognizant of where she was let alone able to understand while others worked behind the scenes. I also suspect some family members, much like Jillie has done to her husband, helped. A lot.

This seems to be a pattern in the swamp. John Mc should have retired a long time before he finally passed away, and as obnoxious as he could be, he just went off the beam more and more. one has to wonder if they already knew when he was running for president that he was past his sell by date and he too was on extra strength drugs as his public persona was useful to the swamp. With a lot of help from current wife and his TV camera loving daughter.

      • swanspirit says:

If McCain was past his sell by date, Joe Bye Bye belongs in the compost heap. At the bottom.
And Couric should have been bitch slapped, long ago. Who know what else the Democratic propagandists have covered up?

        • Mt.Laurel says:

It seems as if they got away with a couple that were just a bit off and they keep upping the stakes. Soon we will literally have them putting them on push cart and wheeling them about. Or maybe they already do – when there are no cameras about.

      • elliesmom says:

I was a big fan of Ben Domenech until I found out he’s married to Meghan McCain. That halved his IQ points.

        • lateblum says:

I’m still a Domenech fan. I love his thinking and his voice. I can’t imagine what the connection could’ve been between Meghan McC and Ben, but I also don’t know why I’ve been attracted to some people.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

Well there is that guy that married the Theranos woman (and into her family full of grifters). After things went south. Someone said that fake voice of hers works like the mythical mermaids song on some people.

          • lateblum says:

            It must be magic. 🧜🏾‍♀️😉🧜🏾‍♀️

        • Constance says:

She is his third wife which makes his seem ambitious or opportunistic. She is an young, overweight, basket case with connections and money.

  6. swanspirit says:

I want a ride in that coach! That tree is stunning.

  7. DandyTIger says:

I need that coach just for every day commuting. 🙂

    • lateblum says:

His reaction to the flight was touching and wonderful. I was so excited for him. Don’t care much for Bezos, but he really did provide the trip of a lifetime for Shatner.

    • jadzia1971 says:

I just sent that to my kids. We just finished Season 1 of Picard, which was not great, last night. My eyes were already a’rolling when I saw that they hired Michael Chabon as showrunner. Great novelist but when it came time to choose a showrunner did they pick his name out of a hat??? He’s done some screenwriting and “developed a show” (read: lent his name to his wife’s pet project) a few years ago for Netflix. That’s it. And THEN I saw that his untalented harridan of a wife, Ayelet Waldman (most famous for proclaiming to I think Oprah that she loved her husband more than her kids), had been installed as co-executive producer. And that’s when I started to watch it like it was MST-3000.

      Patrick Stewart deserved better.

      • 1539days says:

The back story is that Stewart only wanted to come back if he could do a story where he was a dreary man with a tedious existence. And yes, I’m quoting “Tapestry” because new Trek is a mockery of original Trek.
I recommend watching The Orville. Seth McFarlane is an asshole, but his version of Trek is more faithful to the original.

        • jadzia1971 says:

I really want to see The Orville! It isn’t available here yet.

          • 1539days says:

Season 3 is coming out in the US, eventually. It will be streaming only. Maybe that will increase the international distribution chances.

          • jadzia1971 says:

The problem in France is that a lot of the local rights agreements with production companies and whatnot were put into place before Netflix got here, which was maybe 3 years ago? Amazon Prime got here 2 years ago. No Hulu yet because they are still bickering over taxes.

So it is a real crapshoot whether something will even make it to streaming or whether it will go, in a shitty dubbed version, onto a legacy network here.

        • jadzia1971 says:

My kids are really hoping that the Georgiou series pans out because they freaking LOVE HER. I’m just happy to see Michelle Yeoh on screen in any form.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

Have not bothered with much part some new generation and a bit of deep space. According to what I see around the web, They are, as the lingo goes, deconstructing Star Trek . Some will watch anything they stick a ST label on and then there are those who claim to be fans but can’t stand the original series and just love all these cheap bits and bobs they have tossed on streaming with what appear to be based on bad , really bad, fanfic ideas so……..

I have never been a huge fan of Picard, as a captain or just the character, but really, If it is as dreary as that episode it rather misses the whole point of Star Trek. So Is Patrick still trying to prove he is a real actor not just a Star Trek actor. By doing depressingly bad faux trek ?

prefer the Michael Caine view that its a job. Some good, some great, some awful but fun , some you would rather forget and some torturous. just make sure you get paid.

      • votermom says:

Star Trek Enterprise, the series with Scott Bakula as the first starship Enterprise captain, is surprisingly good.
Just do not watch the final ep

        • Mt.Laurel says:

It was on a night I had meetings so I never caught in its original run. I have seen a few episodes when I could not sleep at night as it is on prime so it streams with no annoying commercials. Maybe I should try during the day when not using it in place of counting sheep 🐑🐑🐑

        • 1539days says:

I would say the same about Quantum Leap. 😀

          • elliesmom says:

My daughter was a huge Quantum Leap fan. I bought her a tee shirt that said, “I’m not crazy. I’m talking to Al.” She said it was a sorting device for her.

        • Underwhelmed says:

Oh lord, that final ep. The fact that those guys, Braga and. Berman, thought it was a great idea shows how lost they were by the end. Offensive on every conceivable level. I thought as a series it was very uneven, and it certainly jumped the shark (for me) with the evil space Nazis, but the stuff in the expanse and the Xindi I thought was really good. I think Voyager stands up very well, especially once Seven joined the crew. That was inspired storytelling.

        • jadzia1971 says:

I loved the episode Carbon Creek. And am probably the only person on Earth who found the opening theme… kind of moving.

      • Miranda says:

I read some mysteries by Waldman, but her heroine got really annoying, so I quit.

      • elliesmom says:

When my son was a little boy, he was really into TNG. He even collected the action figures. One year the whole family went on a hunt for Deanna Troi at Christmas time. I made him a Star Trek uniform one year for Halloween. Those were my “painting days”, and I found a wooden “pirate style” trunk and painted the Enterprise on the top of it for him. He kept the trunk with the action figures in it well into adulthood. He offered it to his nephew when he was 10 or so, but he didn’t know who any of the people were. My son said he couldn’t have it until he knew all of them. As far as I know, my son still has it. I know my grandson never retrieved the trunk. But if you ask my son what he thinks of Shatner, he’ll tell you he loved “Denny Crane”. Picard is and always will be the Captain of the Enterprise.

      • Underwhelmed says:

Picard is beyond dire. A travesty. And while Discovery had promise, it was very quickly pissed away. As bad as the first season of Next Generation was, it’s gold compared to this dross. So sad. If you want some great sf, track down Killjoys. It’s on dvd.

  8. lateblum says:

The image is breathtaking! There is a block in my town where – in a good autumn – there are 4 or 5 trees that look like that. Simply beautiful.

    • lateblum says:

The first time I saw those trees, I nearly caused a traffic jam because I drove so slowly just to take it all in.

    • DeniseVB says:

I believe it’s called an October Glory Maple, my favorite of the fall color trees near the coast. If we weren’t talking about moving for the past 20 years, I would have planted a few by now 🙂

  9. DeniseVB says:

Robin Williams fans? Oh-Em-Gee. This guy is Robin.

    • swanspirit says:

Whoa, you wouldn’t think it was possible there were two of them. I thought Robin broke the mold.

      • DeniseVB says:

Of course Robin’s die hard fans hate this guy because there’s only ONE Robin. He’s a professional impersonator and produced this “screen test” to pitch a Robin biopic because he wants to star in it.

His name is Jamie Costa and has a lot of other projects on his youtube channel. Oh goody, more time suck exploring for me 😀

    • elliesmom says:

That’s incredible, and it should be a movie or a series. But don’t give it to Disney.

      • DeniseVB says:

Aren’t Disney and Netflix trying to take over the world? The biggie bucks for struggling artists will end with them 😦

      • lateblum says:

I was looking through the Netflix collection this morning for a friend, and each time I came across something that I might be interested in, I had second thoughts because it was Netflix. Is there anything on it that isn’t some form of woke propaganda?

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I’ve seen a lot do the manic and this guy hits out of the park. but this is the best I have seen anyone do the entire range.

  10. jadzia1971 says:

Yay, my new masks have arrived! Here is what they say:

    *This is my sheep costume
*Mon pass sanitaire? (accompanied by a picture of a QR code and somebody flipping the bird)
    *Non au pass sanitaire
*Je me ferai vacciner quand Macron mettra Brigitte enceinte (I’ll get vaccinated when Macron gets Brigitte pregnant)
    *Stop la dictature sanitaire
*Si pass je m’en passe (Basically, if you demand a vaxx pass I’m not doing business with you)
*A screenshot of Macron’s tweet promising that the vaccine would NEVER be mandated
*Montjoie Saint Denis! A bas la Macronie! (That’s what the guy who slapped Macron yelled jusst before he did it–the H man requested that I NOT purchase a mask bearing a photograph of the BLESSED EVENT)
*Pour votre securite, vous n’aurez aucune libertes
*Hate de voir les triples vaccines avoir peur des doubles vaccines (I can’t wait to see the triple vaccinated scared of the double vaccinated)
*Drawing of a sheep getting a shot
*Bas les masques! (Lower the masks!)
    *Government control device
    *Comply, conform, stay afraid
    *This mask does nothing
    *99.9% survival rate
*(anti-abortion slogan, just to be the human version of a shitposter)
    *This is bullshit
    *No vaccine passports
    *Good ideas don’t require force

And I wonder why my kids are just as happy NOT going out with me in public.

  11. jadzia1971 says:

So on the way home from kid pickup today, there was this asshole driving very erratically, practically doing U-turns on the beltway, I’m guessing reading his phone during the rush hour traffic. I backed way the hell off because I’m not dumb. Eventually this jerk did cause an accident by slamming on his brakes, causing the car behind him (which had already honked at him once to get him to drive like a non-maniac) to slam into him.

As I drove off I saw the guy from the back car administering a beat-down to the guy in the front car right there on the side of the road… and I can’t say I was sorry at all.

But it’s “transient” say the people who are making 6figures/yr and won’t lose their jobs until they are voted out of office.

        • lateblum says:

And by that time they’ll have 10 times their salary stashed away someplace and will never know the pain the rest of us feel. #FJB

      • jadzia1971 says:

Hoooly shit. I know Americans aren’t fond of UHT milk, but I’m paying around 98 cents for 1.5 liters, less if I go to Costco. And it lasts a really long time.

In other news, A SECOND COSTCO IS OPENING! For some reason they chose to put it just 30km from the first Costco, but I guess it’s easier for them to expand gradually from the location where they already are instead of putting #2 in Marseille or Lyon or something. I am hoping that someday I will not have to drive 200km to get there–there are four medium-sized cities in my region and if Costco put one kind of in the middle of the geographical square that they make, that’s a really big potential market, plus the land is cheap and there’s good freeway access.

No, GOP swampers, Donald Trump is not going away.

Much to the shock and dismay of establishment Republicans in Washington, President Trump has no plans whatsoever of going quietly into that good night. Or retirement. Or surrender. Or whatever.

Did you see his rally in Iowa this weekend? Or the one in Georgia before that?

No. Your long, national nightmare is nowhere near over.

And the fact that so many of them think that Mr. Trump might just walk away reminds us of just how fantastically out of touch from their own voters the Republican Party has been for decades. It is why Mr. Trump so easily hijacked the party in the first place.
