Me too ! So many of us were begging Youngkin, please win so we don’t have to move 😉

I have always been very fond of Virginia. Such a beautiful state. And I can get there in under an hour, by car.
So nice to know Virginia has a governor who loves her now, and isn’t willing to sacrifice her on the altar of dims greed and power seeking.
And the new lieutenant governor is badass!!!!

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Congrats! I am surprised a sink hole did not develop and swallow Fairfax County whole.

I guess having to give up the peace and quite and no mask required with everyone gone from the floor yesterday due to crappy weather that provoked a wonderful migraine is now balanced out by the over the top antics I will see later this week when I head into the office. I still have a few bags of the white cheddar booty left from Halloween. That should do in place of popcorn.

    • votermom says:

      Congrats Virginians! You did it!

    • foxyladi14 says:

YES! very proud of her too. 😀

    Good Morning.

It’s the day after and I don’t feel bad at all. Some results are still coming in on Long Island, but it looks like the republicans had a good night.

And, of course, I love this story, 🙂

Twitter roasts MSNBC for Election Night meltdown

A few days after I got my driver’s license, we headed south to visit my dad’s family. When we approached the beginning of the Skyline Drive, my dad pulled over to let me drive. He said he had never seen it from the passenger side before. My uncle lived in Front Royal, but no one had ever offered to be the driver so Dad could just enjoy the view. When my son was 18, he and his grandfather headed south for the month of June. They were both just weeks away from completing cancer treatment and promised to take it slow if I would give the trip my blessing. I made my son promise he would drive his grandfather over the Skyline Drive. They were in Front Royal for several days, and they drove over it multiple times taking turns doing the driving. Since then when my son and I are on a pretty stretch like Ocean Drive in Newport, my son will ask me, “Whose turn is it to look?”

I never usually pull for the national league teams, except for St. Louis. But after the Bush league woke move the commissioner, Rob Manfred, made this summer, I rooted for Atlanta the entire series.
I’m a White Sox fan, and Houston simply overpowered the Sox in the playoffs. but even had it not happened, I’d have hoped for Manfred’s comeuppance just like this.
      Poetic Justice is delicious.

      • elliesmom says:

When I lived near Chicago, my friends always wanted to take me to a White Sox game when the Red Sox were in town, but I always wanted to go to Wrigley to see the Cubs. The only time a National League team would ever play in Boston would be if the Sox made the World Series, and up to that point, it had never happened in my lifetime. “But the Cubs always lose!” Like I had no experience with baseball curses. 🙂

When I got ready to take Ellie for a walk this morning, it was colder than it’s been so far so I reached for a warmer jacket than I’ve been wearing. When I went to zip it up, the zipper broke. Now, I have the skills to replace the zipper, but the jacket is at least 35 years old. It’s been on so many camping trips no matter how many times I wash it, it still has a faint smell of burning wood. While I was walking Ellie, I kept thinking about the jacket, and I felt like it was a friend on life support, and I had to decide if I should pull the plug. When I got home, I decided to check Lands End to see if they had something similar before I started picking out the zipper. It turns out that 35 years later they’re selling the same jacket. How often does that happen? It was even on a good sale. If I leave the jacket within reach, the doggies pull it onto the floor and sleep on it so I put it in front of the fireplace, and Hank is taking a nap on it. I feel like I should take a picture and send it to Lands End. 🙂

    • swanspirit says:

Why not? They would love it! Everyone loves being appreciated. ❤

    • Helen Kenney says:

that is a good thing for the day. you gotta love it

    • lateblum says:

That is a wonderful thing, em. Sometimes I can still find the same or similar at Lands End as well. Take the picture! You can always send a product review and share your story that way.

20-25 years ago I bought 2 pair of Levi’s L1 cargo pants & just loved them – comfortable lightweight tan ripstop nylon, rugged, dirt wouldn’t stick, & quick drying (I had to quickly step into a Jacuzzi while wearing them to rescue my little guy who plopped in while trying to fill his squirt gun.)

A couple years later I wanted to buy another pair, but they were not to be had. 😦

One of the last times I wore them was on a tuna fishing trip. A crew member would gaff the fish we caught & haul them up & slam them on the deck, where they’d thrash violently, flinging blood from the gaffing everywhere. By the end of the day, I was pretty heavily spattered with blood.

On the way home, starving, I walked into a McDonald’s, & all the Saturday night date teens gave me wide berth & studiously ignored me. 🙂

  34. Mt.Laurel says:

A ray of light appeared yesterday that they had not managed to stuff the boxes enough across the state as I started getting email messages late in the day from Maryland’s very own Senator Van H as in Hell asking me as a Maryland resident to call , text or pay an in person visit to anyone I knew in Virginia and tell them to get to the polls for mcAwful. I laughed because everyone I know in Virginia fell into two categories CRT to infinity and beyond or hell no we won’t vote for that Demon. But it did really bother me that I was being asked to stick my nose on another state’s elections. Then I noticed it actually had come via the same route at the ones I was getting as a “dedicated Virginia democrat” from McAwful. When you look underneath the hood they all go back to Tom The slimy ball weasel that wants to be Maryland’s governor.

  36. elliesmom says:

I’ve had a contemplative day today. When I went to bed last night, I was pretty sure I’d wake up to Glenn Youngkin’s victory. Virginia has been under the microscope so I was pretty sure there wouldn’t be enough hanky-panky to turn that election. People were so convinced Murphy would easily win New Jersey no one has been paying attention. If there is going to be cheating, it will be there. But a Republican governor in New Jersey is like a Republican governor in Massachusetts. It’s just Democrat-lite.

The pockets of resistance across the country are an encouraging sign that people are starting to wake up, but after wondering why I’m more excited about being able to replace my favorite sloppy jacket than over the results of yesterday’s election, I figured it out. The only Republican I have ever voted for who didn’t disappoint me has been Donald Trump. So while I can take some pleasure in sticking it to the Democrats yesterday, I don’t hold out much hope a huge Republican sweep in 2022 will change much. If we want change, we’re going to have to do it ourselves.

    Michael Malice @michaelmalice

there is a vibe right now on corporate media news shows blaming and condemning voters for doing the wrong thing in yesterday’s election.
these people have learned nothing from the election of trump in 2016 as a big middle finger to them and their diktats

in their defense, there is a very large percentage of the population eager to accept their programming
they cant seem to wrap their heads around the fact that there is a percentage that isnt, and therefore default to assuming those are racist

I think the failure to recall Newsom and the reelection of Trudeau eliminated in their minds the possibility that they have lost control.
Trump was an aberration, he lost, now things are back to normal where they have a monopoly on discourse

    tl;dr these people are fucked
