    Good Morning.

Good morning! I hope everyone had a good holiday. Our Thanksgiving chili reduced all my cholesterol to ash. Seriously, if I ever get Covid or something, I’m getting hubby to whip up a batch. it’ll burn it out.

I’m going to a couple of craft stores today to look at sales, and I might hit the mall this weekend, when it will be a) less crowded and b) still have decent sales. I have to do some shopping for my aunt who is still sidelined from a car wreck in September (although she’s much better, speaking of things to be thankful for!).

The old normal! Macy’s NYC’s Thanksgiving Day parade kicks off with NO COVID rules: 6,500 performers and inflatables are watched by 2.5M spectators who DON’T have to show proof of vaccination, wear masks or socially distance

BOOM! Bernard Kerik’s Attorneys Demand Jan. 6 Committee Withdraw Their Fraudulent Claims, Then Correct and Apologize for Their Obvious Lies Against Their Client

    What a clown show.
Liz Cheney’s Jan. 6 witch hunt committee released a damning letter to the press earlier this month that claimed former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik attended a meeting on January 5th at the Willard Hotel in Washington DC where Trump advisors discussed how to overturn the recorded November 2020 election results.

It’s my Day of Atonement. I left Ellie alone for 8 whole hours yesterday. There are two ways I get treated, and she gets to decide. I will either be shunned most of the day or end up tripping over her every time I try to move. (Hank was sleeping when I left and sleeping when I got home so I’m not sure he noticed I was gone.) So far shunning appears to be Ellie’s theme of the day.

We got the turkey done by 3. When I left, there was stock simmering on the stove. The things I ordered for Thanks giving, like pie boxes, are out for delivery from Amazon today. We had a lovely day. The new log cabin is cute. Both of the godkids were there, mine and Elliesdad’s. I weighed and measured both of them minutes after they were born. Hard to believe they’re 30 and 27.

When my kids were little, I did a stint working in retail. The store owner figured out I was good at making fancy bows, and from Thanksgiving to Christmas he stuck me in gift wrap. I made a vow when I quit, I would never step into a store on the day after Thanksgiving again. So I will be at home getting shunned for the day. If you’re out and about, be safe, and remember it’s taking a lot of effort for store employees to even smile today. Most people have the day off today, and this is their day from hell.

Enjoy the leftovers. I had coconut cream pie for breakfast.

Aww Ellie is being a sulky baby.
Sounds like you had an awesome TG!

People are also boycotting today because employees are overworked and underpaid. I’ll be at home with some chili.

The first time I was gone until after dark when we moved form DST I was shunned by the entire kitty cartel.

I worked in retail in major old fashioned department store as an undergrad and much of grad school. They found out early on when I was working in display that I was good at packing, wrapping and bow making. I did love having access to all types of high end paper, ribbons and trimmings. But working gift wrap and managing the Christmas department did result in my decision to avoid stores starting the Wednesday before Thanksgiving once I was no longer working at the store.

For years my parents would laugh because the store continued to use many of the display “presents” with the Santa Cottage but it was clear that those setting it up no longer knew how to refresh the various bow and wrapping styles and coordinate the colors and textures for the best visual appeal. eventually they were bought by Macy’s and went to those large scale sticky bows with every package wrapped the same generic paper.

“A very interesting time in our Country, but do not worry, we will be great again—and we will all do it together. America will never fail, and we will never allow it to go in the wrong direction. Picked Showtime – watched the first 3 eps of the new Dexter mini series

Also btw if you buy a new roku this holiday season, they throw in 30 day hbomax trial (new subscribers only)

    • helenk3 says:

      my daughter bought me a new Roku because my old one will not let me get different streaming shows, all of a sudden prime and Hulu would not play on the old one;
last night I watched an old movie The Gallant Hours, with James Cagney as Admiral Wm Halsey and Guadalcanal. Where did we get such brave men? Wish we had some leaders like that now. One thing I noticed is that he talked to the men on the ground and listened.
to what they had to say and where the problems were. no “peter principle” for him

At this point winning an award for best sales for Pampered Chef or PartyLights* is more impressive and honest.

*Are these still a thing? I know that really over priced basket company went south a while ago. Neighbor that loved to hold this type of “party” moved so unlike Neville Chamberlain we do have peace in our time —- at least on mlm front.

      • helenk3 says:

years ago I made baskets for guys as gifts. I put snacks for watching the game. at that time blooper tapes of sports events. I found miniature football helmets and filled them with snacks. They had to supply their own beer. They went over pretty good.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

These baskets were empty. And pricey. Being a basket lover, when I was dragged with no warning by Auntie J to one of these parties at her neighbors saying she had promised to stop by before we left. I was able to figure out which one of the more modest priced items might actually be useful in the long run, I knew I was not getting out of it without at least a minimal purchase or Auntie J would rattle on and one forever about being embarrassed. Auntie L who had never been exposed at all to such parties was shell shocked and had been expecting to go out for a nice birthday dinner. They were pushing her to buy some $120 baguette basket but I caught her eye and she recovered enough to say she would take the same as me and at that point I took over and got us the heck out of dodge. I knew Auntie L was not up to the push from the hostess about giving her own party and maybe recruiting new sales people. Auntie W was happy she was running late due to traffic and missed the not really a party event.

It just starting snowing here tonight. I don’t think there will be any accumulation. I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t checked the yard for wildlife before I let Ellie out. A nice night for sitting by the fireplace with a glass of pinot and Yellowstone.

But he won’t tweet about Darrell Brooks, Jr., a racist (suspected) mass-murderer who allegedly killed 6 & wounded 61 others in a Wisconsin Christmas parade.
