    • jadzia1971 says:

If I were a business owner in NYC and Eric Adams had NOT sent out that obnoxious tweet about how he’s just gonna keep everything in place, I would close my business for the four days that this thing is going to be in effect AND DeBlasio is still in office.

‘Will no one rid us of this meddlesome priest?’

      • elliesmom says:

He has already been canonized so I’m afraid just getting rid of him won’t be helpful at this point. We don’t need him martyrer. We need him totally discredited. I’m not sure how much it’s going to take to do that.

        • Anthony says:

I like Henry’s method better. Chop chop.

        • Constance says:

Fauci should definitely fall when Truth Social goes up for real use. At that point The Powers That Be won’t be able to keep info and vaccine failure and the effectiveness of HCQ and Ivermectin as well as vitamin protocols secret. It’s really encouraging that Truth s working with groups who already have effective platforms up like Rumble. Also notable that Melania Trump just put up an official account on Parler that is a platform that has learned some hard lessons but is basically ready to go.

          • taw46 says:

So, I logged in to Parler, first time since their troubles, lol. I will have to look around the site, I don’t remember anything about how to use it.

    • 1539days says:

Other countries are already doing it. The vax has basically had no effect on COVID cases after about 6 weeks. Time for 10 boosters a year.

      • jadzia1971 says:

True dat. France announced about a month ago that all people over 65 who don’t get booster shots will lose their vaccine passports, which means no gym restaurant train bus or any other public place except for stores (but big shopping centers also forbidden).

When I was baking ginger snaps the other day, I remembered how much one of my daughter’s childhood friends loved them. There’s a thing going around on Facebook where people are including their favorite recipes in Christmas cards. Thinking this grownup woman might get a kick out of a recipe she helped make at 6 or 7, I put the recipe in a card and sent if off to her. What I got back from her was a very angry pm. Apparently, another mom and I had “ruined her life forever” by removing her “only two friends in the world” from school when she needed them most. We left her behind because her family couldn’t afford private school without thinking about what it would do to her. Because I’m “selfish” and “always get what i want”, school choice will happen, and “millions of other little girls” will be stuck in the “left- over schools” because their parents can’t afford to pay extra. To the best of my knowledge, this woman has a couple of college degrees, a very good job and a loving husband. I knew where to find her because I’m still in touch with her father and stepmother, and she’s very much a happy part of their lives. While she may have some inner demons I don’t know about, her life is hardly in “ruins”.

While the other mom did choose a pricey private school, we didn’t. We took turns working Friday night Bingo because it was a condition of our daughter’s acceptance. The revenue from the game helped keep the tuition affordable for more people. Even if you could afford to pay a premium, you coudn’t buy your way out. (I did approach her dad about sending her, too, but her mom would have no part of a parochial school.) School choice is one of those things that should be an easy sell to parents regardless of their politics, but it’s not. “Selfish” is an interesting word. I’m selfish for wanting all parents to have the same choices we had, but K isn’t selfish for not wanting anyone to have access to anything better.

I’m just going to add this to my long list of good deeds that haven’t gone unpunished and let it go. It was a window into the mindset of someone who doesn’t understand what “voting in her own interests” means and why it isn’t selfish. Kids of the future shouldn’t have choices she didn’t have was pretty much what she was saying.

    • Anthony says:

Send an amended recipe substituting anti-freeze for molasses. What a bitch.

    • Mothy67 says:

      That’s cray cray.
I assume it has been at least 20 or 30 years.
Long time to carry around that much anger. Maybe something bad took place around that time and she had a serious upheaval in her emotional life. Her young brain couldn’t process and she needed to blame something outside her. Military brats constantly move. Uprooted from everything they know. Kids go through cancer. Lose parents.
To expend the effort to write you an accusatory missive decades later is madness. Kids are raped and exhibIt less blame. Kids have actually had friends die with less traumatic toll.
Bet she has a therapist who told her to write you. I don’t think you are supposed to mail those types of letters.

    • Miranda says:

No good deed goes unpunished. Yikes.

    • lyn5 says:

      Chalk it up to Festivis.

      • Constance says:

I like that! Send her a note saying “Sorry! But aren’t you celebrating Festivis a little early this year? I wish you a good 2022.”

There’s the Swedish kind called pepparkakor that’s just so good

    • lyn5 says:

Please share your recipe, em. Ginger snaps are my favorite cookie.

      • elliesmom says:

        2 1/2 cups of flour
        2 1/4 tsp baking soda
        1/2 tsp salt
        1/2 tsp ground allspice
        1/2 tsp ground pepper
        1 tbl ground ginger
1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter at room temp
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar plus 1/3 cup for coating
        6 tbl molasses
        1 egg

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare two cookie sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease.

Mix flour, baking soda, salt, pepper and spices togther.
Using a mixer, cream butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, and brown sugar until light. Add molasses and egg. Turn the mixer on low and slowly add the flour mixture.

Form the dough into balls. My mother-in-law made 3/4 ” balls. I like giant cookies so I make 2″ balls. Roll the dough in the rest of the sugar. If you want “sparkling cookies”, use sanding sugar. Then flatten the cookies on the cookie sheets. They do spread some so leave some space between.

Bake them for 12 to 15 minutes until brown.

While those were my mother-in-law’s favorite, my mom’s favorite was jam-filled shortbread. They’re Crash’s favorite, too, and this will be the 60th year I’ve made them for Christmas.

    • jadzia1971 says:

That is one of the bat-shit-craziest things I’ve ever heard, and I was alive for 2016-2020. I will never apologize for doing what’s best for my kids because THAT IS MY FREAKING JOB.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I had to let this settle in before commenting because it was hard to wrap my brain around such an odd response.

If the mother of one of my childhood friends sent me a Christmas card because something made her think of me after all these years I would be tickled pink. When we went from junior high to high school we lost more than half of our class of 150 as many parents opted to send them to the city public school/the surrounding township public high school because they could not justify the tuition expense as the tuition breaks at the regional high school were not as good as those offered by our grade school. There were also some that went to very pricy private schools at that point. I would be shocked if decade later, even if it did bother those old friends at some level that my parents chose a different path for me, that they would not just tuck the recipe in the pile with any other Christmas cards and call it a day. Not react like a petulant toddler.

Now you have made me think so I am off to dig out my mother’s recipes so I can share with her nieces and nephews when I do my cards. I already have a mental list of each of their favorites.

      • elliesmom says:

A few years ago I made family cookbooks for my girls for Christmas. My daughter, daughter-in-law, and our god daughter. I found a free recipe book page template online, bought some binders and sheet protectors. They’ve been adding pages and sharing them with each other. It’s been a lot of fun,

Saw HRC blubbering all over TV this morning. Looks like the Dems are testing to see if she’s a viable candidate for 2024. There’s a part of me that would love to see a HRC vs DJT rematch

    • lyn5 says:

      Not with Democrat cheating!

    • DeniseVB says:

Dems wouldn’t help Hillary like they helped Joe (where were her 81 million votes?). Wonder why they didn’t run her again in 2020, yet, here she is again? Masterclass to learn how to be like her and remind us, again, she should have won, also, Biden/Harris approvals are in the toilet. 😉

    • foxyladi14 says:

      Me too! 🤣🤣

    • Constance says:

Nothing says “World Leader” like blubbering about personal crap in public. The other thing is she can’t go up a flight of stairs without help and while the MSM can be counted on to cover her decrepit physical state a free media will be all over it. It takes 20 mins a day to do elder exercises to improve stability and stair climbing and she has been too lazy to do them. At this point she is nothing but a destructive poser.

Liz Cheney has been falsely presenting herself as the ranking member of this committee. Committee requires a ranking member, but has none, as Pelosi selected Cheney to do her bidding on it, including grievous attacks on citizen privacy, and 1st Amendment-protected activities.

That made me sick to read her account of what happened in that tunnel. The treatment of 1/6 by the left, the media, the anti-Trump people, all of it has disgusted me. It is why I was off social media for awhile. Nothing will ever be right again until they correct the fraudulent election and the false accusations of an insurrection on 1/6.

Let them all die…even the sheep who failed to say STFU you idiots. It is coming..lots and lots of death. They will try to blame it on the COVID BS but it is the ‘vaccine.’ Sorry peeps if you got the jab pray…a lot. My doctor said MILLIONS will die and even more MILLIONS will be permanently disabled. If ANYONE still thinks masks and chemicals and 40 year old dead fetal tissue can save you from a man-made virus that isn’t even really that dangerous WAKE UP NOW . Take mask OFF and start acting like your life depended on your THINKING. These people want you dead or at least brain dead. Pharma is NOT your friend. It really is as bad as you can imagine–and even worse. Time to stand up and say FUCK YOU and fight for real.

I don’t know who needs to hear this other than, oh, I DON’T KNOW THE FREAKING TOP ELECTED REPUBLICAN IN THE COUNTRY, but people have a right to peaceably assemble and protest without being attacked by powerful politicians and having their lives destroyed with witch hunts.

Mitch McConnell is personally trying to destroy someone’s life and livelihood because he was an advance staffer for the top Republican vote-getter in history. I get that McConnell loathes the previous president, but this is *scandalous* and unacceptable behavior.

Also, to run to the NYT to brag about how you are trying to destroy the life of a Republican staffer — who is being persecuted despite having no allegation of wrong against him — is embarrassing. GOP voters deserve real leadership, and they deserve it about 30 years ago.
