    Good Morning.

I’m glad to say that Nassau County on Long Island is one of them.

I love the twitter/instagram post where a house is done up for Christmas. Perhaps thousands of lights. The house next door created an arrow with the word ditto and that’s all. Can’t find it.

  5. jadzia1971 says:

Very cute! Taking notes for next year–I have an enormous garage/cave (long story) that fronts the street and could use some jazzing up next year. On the bright side, it is only ONE story, so maybe it will be a good place to put things like Santa with a sleigh.

So I am running a free daycare today–my neighbor dropped off her 4-year-old, the H-man’s 10 year old doesn’t have school, and I just noticed that the H-man has DISAPPEARED–and I’m getting nothing done. Apparently the nursery-school teachers are on strike. So I put the 10 year old in charge. He feels like the big guy, and the 4 year old is having fun, I think. Little kids’ French is sometimes pretty hard to understand.

Hard to understand for a French person or for a second language French person?
From your other comment, I’d like to know the story of the house.

      • jadzia1971 says:

Hard for somebody like me, who is French as a second language and stuck (ok, primarily due to laziness) at a high-intermediate level.

Which story of the house? Of getting it decorated? Or of its decadent past?

        • 1539days says:

          Decadent past first, then decoration.

          • jadzia1971 says:

Oh! Well, according to the purchase documents that are kind of like a title report, before this house was a house (it was converted in 2013), it was a “chai” (winery) for many years, since the 1960s, and before that it was a nightclub. It looks like a nightclub once more thanks to the millions of flashing sparkling lights I’ve installed on every available stair ramp.

89 Africans Killed By Mysterious New Illness Emerging In South Sudan

Just as the latest delta-driven wave of SARS-CoV-2 washes over parts of the US that already benefit from some of the country’s highest vaccination rates, the WHO has dispatched an advance team of researchers and doctors to South Sudan, situated in Northern Africa, where 89 people have been killed already by some strange new virus, according to the Daily Mail.

School bus service has ben suspended in Johnstown, a town between where I live and Providence through the end of the month except for special needs kids and the kids that get bussed to the local Catholic school under contract with the town to provide it. Some of the bus drivers may have been exposed to covid, and their test results won’t be back before Christmas. The local news was interviewing parents.
“I think they should close the schools and go remote until the end of January at least. If the drivers have been exposed, then so have the kids.”
“Why do the Catholic kids get a ride to school and mine don’t?”
“While my boss will let me leave to pick up my kids, he’s not going to pay me when I’m not there. I can’t afford this to happen right now.”
“Just put masks on everyone and open all of the windows on the bus. It’s not THAT cold.”
“Has everyody had enough of this crap yet? Can I say “crap” on TV?”

BREAKING: BANNON GOES OFF — After News Breaks that Dems will Shelve Build Back Better Bill – Will Move to Federalize Elections – Their Permanent Power Play

The Senate Democrats are expected to shelve their Build Back Better bill and move forward with their national elections bill that gives them permanent power.

When I had my free trial of SiriusXM, I listened to MSNBC. They thing they always talked about was how important “democracy” is. But democracy is only an element of a free society. There are plenty of socialist regimes that use the word “democratic” in their name but control every aspects of people’s lives. The US has a Constitution that tells the government we are free from them telling us what to do. It’s why other countries without one are basically social welfare police states. They have democracy, but every candidate is on the left.

I love Greg Kelly (Newsmax). On his show tonight, he talked about the many times people protested around and on the steps of the Capitol. Huge crowds – Vietnam veterans in 1971, WWI veterans in 1932, clashes outside the Pentagon over the Vietnam War. Then there are all the times protestors went inside and interrupted Congress, stopped proceedings. But the left never called any of that “obstruction” or “insurrection”. That’s only for us Trump supporters.

He also said “Omnicron” a bunch when first talking about/announcing the existence of the newest variant. I was listening in the car and although I do everything I can to NOT listen to that demented blowhole, I was glued to the radio to hear him mispronounce the word over and over again.

    Newsbytes from France:

*400,000 senior citizens lost their vaccine passports yesterday because they declined to take a booster shot. (New law that only applies to people over 65.)

*70% of parents opposed to vaccinating children under the age of 12. (I expect those parents to fold like a bunch of cheese-eating surrender monkeys the second their kids are banned from sports and other activities, which is something that is already set to happen to my older daughter when she turns 12 in June–she will be banned from riding horses. Outdoors. Alone on the goddamned horse. Unless I agree to the injection.)

*110,000 fake vaccine passports discovered by the government. (REALLY? I’m pretty sure it’s way higher than that.) Government proposes a law of “repentance,” which i guess means that if you get caught and say “sowwy,” they won’t throw you in jail.

*Macron says no forced injections, which I’m pretty sure means that the second he is re-elected this spring, they will announce forced injections.

*H-man is ready to vote for Zemmour over all of this Covid crap, which is surprising given that he is, after all, a Muslim immigrant, albeit one who is well educated in the French system, has been here for decades (he’s been a French citizen longer than I have), and is totally Westernized. I wonder if he’s an outlier. North Africans are a big chunk of the French population that has no love for Macron either, and I figure there will just be a really high abstention rate.
