My father-in-law was a research metallurgist for Olin Corp, and he made a good living, but three mornings a week my mother-in-law rose at 3 am to go to work as a counter waitress at the local Dunkin Donuts. Her weekly paycheck was a drop in the bucket compared to his, but she loved going to work. The only people at a Dunkin Donuts that’s not on a highway at 5 am are regular customers grabbing a cup of coffee and a donut on their way to work. Besides serving them coffee, she also listened to their stories, laughed with them, and cried with them. She had been retired for 5 years or so and moved from Connecticut to Maine. When she died, I let her minister in Connecticut know. He was one of her regulars, too, and he told the gang at the counter. Four of them drove to Maine to be at her memorial service. There had to be a proper send off for “their girl”.

      • elliesmom says:

        I say it, too. 🙂

        • swanspirit says:

My father, even after he retired, used to get up @5:30 every morning, to go meet his “gang” at the local diner, for coffee and breakfast. They had their own booth, and met for years. He was active his entire life. He died standing up on the boardwalk in Ocean City.
At his funeral, his gang introduced themselves as his breakfast buddies.
That could be him sitting at the counter, in that painting.

        • DeniseVB says:

The very photogenic Ellie blew your cover 😀

    • Dora says:

Love the picture. In fact I already stole it! 🙂

    • Constance says:

I love that painting! I might think of dating again if I could find a guy like those counter guys. Dow to earth and homey.

  2. elliesmom says:

I’m unofficially catering a luncheon on Saturday. Can’t be official because I haven’t had my kitchen inspected, and I’m sure Hank and Ellie will “help”. But my client has eaten things I’ve made, and I haven’t made her sick or killed her so she’s onboard with that. She volunteered to do this herself for work, and as she puts it “her kitchen hasn’t been inspected, either”. Money has changed hands. She was given a budget from her boss, and he expects her to profit from it so it’s generous.

The theme is a “summer picnic in January”. While still looking for myself, I found pork butt for $1.99/lb so I’m making pulled pork. I’ll snag some of it for me. 🙂 Some homemade buns for it. Vegetable slaw. An assortment of snack size bags of chips. Then I’m thinking some over-sized cookies for dessert. There will only be 8 people so I think I can pack this in my picnic hamper for her. She’ll have to put the pulled pork in her slow cooker to reheat it ahead of time or just toss it in her microwave, but other than that she won’t have any prep to do. Next to no cleanup. I haven’t volunteered to be a server. Just the cook. While the pork and the buns take hours to prepare, the actual hands on time isn’t very much. I bought the veggies for the slaw all shredded and diced so I just have to make the dressing. The cookies are the most labor intensive but less than cake or pie would be. I should clear about $25/hour if I work smart. It will satisfy my inner Martha, and I’ve got a lot more money left than I’ve spent so I at least can’t lose money on the deal. 🙂 And the sun is out again today.

    • swanspirit says:

That sounds delicious! It’s fun to have summer dishes in winter. I like to make ribs, in the oven, They turn out as good as on the grill. But thanks to bidenflation, they have doubled in price. A nice big rack of ribs that would fit in my roasting pan, used to cost, about $10, or $11. Now they are $20 to $25. So maybe I can find a nice pork butt and do pulled pork, instead.

      • elliesmom says:

The hostess’s original thought was to do an “Olive Garden” style soup, salad, and breadsticks, but she didn’t have enough soup bowls. I do, but packing up my dishes and taking them to her place wasn’t in the deal. Soup in styrofoam cups wasn’t what she envisioned. She wants to look like “Martha”, too. The picnic lets her use paper plates. She’ll probably spend more time picking them out than I spent grocery shopping. 🙂

    • DeniseVB says:

Oh yum ! I’m currently watching a show on the Magnolia Network called Farmhouse Rules and the lady is a retired caterer and seems to be doing stuff for herself, friends and family. She’s a hoot and thinking if Paula Deen and Ina Garten had a child…… 😀

    • votermom says:

      Sounds delicious!

  3. I am halfway thru Rigged. I just finished the chapter titled “Zuckerberg Ought To Be In Jail.”

Mollie Hemingway lays out in detail how the Democrats stole the election.

    • swanspirit says:

That book is on my want list. I am reading The Real Anthony Fauci, and there is no reason in this universe he shouldn’t be in prison, if not flayed, hung drawn and quartered.
And for some inexplicable reason, I just started reading Ben Hur. I think the treasures of description pulled me in,
But I like the was Molly Hemingway writes. And Fuckerberg belongs in prison, as well.

    • taw46 says:

I have that book, but haven’t read it yet. Maybe I’ll start it today. And yesterday I received Julie Kelly’s book, January 6. Mollie and Julie, two jewels.

    • Constance says:

I was wondering if that book was worth reading. I’ll add it to my list.

    • elliesmom says:

I have Mollie’s book to read, but first I have to recover from reading the Fauci book.

  4. OMG – From Ace’s place:

When you look at every issue and everything we are dealing with in that context, it’s kind of a cold slap in the face. What’s even more of a gut punch is the realization that this state of affairs is not something new; it’s been this way for years, if not decades. You just didn’t realize it, primarily because socially and economically, the world – that is your world of family, work and community – was outwardly stable, predictable and secure. Perhaps the first major disruption to that was 9/11/01 and then the response to it in the ensuing months that did nothing to rectify the situation, but was used as a pretext to weaponize the security state against the American citizenry. It’s getting into the weeds a bit but we are only beginning to reap the whirlwind of the creation of the FISA courts, the warrantless wiretapping and all the rest of it (how the hell did I ever think that that was a good idea?).

So, on the heels of putting his foot in his mouth (i.e. shoving his head up his ass) about parroting the Leftist propaganda about J-6 being a “terrorist” attack, Ted Cruz is being lauded in the usual circles for defenestrating Dr. Fauci about his collusion with the Chi-Coms to weaponize and unleash General Tso’s Sickness. And yesterday, Kevin McCarthy flipped a rhetorical bird at Malig-Nancy Pelosi by refusing to testify in her J-6 kangaroo court while Mitch McConnell ripped Joey Soft-Serve a new one in the well of the Senate for his blood-libeling of those who oppose his nuking the filibuster to make permanent Democrat election rigging.

To all of this brave, uplifting, fightin’ mad Mr. Smith Goes to Washington rhetorical fireworks, I say thank you — and fuck you. When the chips were down last year, you sat on your hands, abrogated your oath to the Constitution and sold America down the river for good by not protesting a stolen election. That was on top of doing everything you could to stonewall and sabotage President Trump’s legislative agenda when in his first two years the GOP held both chambers of Congress and had an absolute mandate to reverse not just the Obama destruction, but most of everything going back to the New Deal. The possible exception to that, of course, being the “entitlements.” Even before that, for years and years it was “Build the dang fence!” before an election and then deriding us as “hobbits” for complaining about embracing amnesty afterwards. “We’re only one half of one third of three fifths of 99 44/100ths% Congress!” Dozens of single-sentence Obamacare repeals knowing full well the dog-eating bastard would veto it but stonewalling and ultimately a thumbs down when Trump pushed for it.

I do not trust anyone in Congress, D or R.

    • DandyTIger says:

Perfectly said. They’re all part of the elite, deep state machine. Fuck them. None of them will do anything for Americans unless they fear for their job, lives, or endless corrupt money train, not necessarily in that order.

      • taw46 says:

That’s why I loved what I saw on Jan 6, people swarming all over the Capitol steps and balconies. It scared the shit out of Congress.

        • lyn5 says:

Our elected assholes should be scared. That’s why I will like Trump forever. He showed us what corrupt creeps the ruling elites are. We see the America-haters getting away with it still. You mad yet, brother and sister?!

          • taw46 says:

Furious. So pissed off that I had to stay away from news for a few months. But I’m back. And I feel the same about Trump. NO ONE would have done what he did. Trump forever.

      • lyn5 says:

        Damn straight. ❤

    • AniEm says:

Fauci’s “M.D.” equals ‘mass destruction’. The two major political parties are looking like criminal enterprises, cloaking themselves in virtue while engaging in runaway totalitarianism. Just praying that the basic decency of the average American will pull us through this darkness.

    • lyn5 says:

    • Constance says:

Well said! I’ve been wondering what is with the little show of spine from Cruz, McCarthy and McConnell.

  5. Dora says:

    Good Morning.

This is evil straight up and in your face. Of all things to attack, kids with cancer are about as low as you can go. The way this covid chaos has brought out the absolute worst in people is horrifying. .

‘Pandemic of The Vaccinated’: Latest UK Health Data Shows Vaccinated Deaths Higher than Unvaccinated Deaths in Last Three Months!

The latest official health data from the British government shows that “fully vaccinated” individuals are not experiencing the robust protection against hospitalization or death that they were promised, but rather have alarmingly been contracting the virus, getting hospitalized, and even dying at a much higher number than the unvaccinated have been over the past few months.

  7. Woke Lola says:

    Today is D-Day!

I refer to my boss as the Narcaholic, because she’s a narcissist and an alcoholic, and she is very angry. She targets people and seeks retribution constantly. She was fired once and regained her position by grooming people on the Board. Last week I submitted an 8 page formal complaint detailing her illegal activity under 3 laws. I meet with HR today. I’m going to be claiming protections under a fourth law as well. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can do the right thing, or I can bring my adverse actions and constructive discharge civil claim to court, and they can take the fine from the EEOC. I’ve already filed with EEOC. I’ve already consulted an atty. I’m on solid ground. Drunks are stupid planners.

Since I filed my report, 2 high profile players have been added to the meeting, one at 12:30 am this morning (the middle of the night). We call this traction. 🤣 Wish me luck!

    • DandyTIger says:

      Wow. Good luck!!!

    • lateblum says:

      Damn, Lola! Good for you!
How long do you suppose they will keep her on after this?

      • Woke Lola says:

Judging by the meeting, they are going to try to keep her. Luckily my protection or their doing the right thing was not the objective of this meeting. Getting things that can be subpoenaed on the record was. Plenty there. They actually asked me as the first question why I didn’t report sooner or come to the CEO. I told them I reported 2 times in six months, both times directly to the CEO and HR. Fools gonna keep foolin’.

    • votermom says:

      Good luck and prayers, Lola!

    • taw46 says:

      Thinking of you today.

    • swanspirit says:

Brilliant!!! I am in awe! Please keep us posted!

    • Locked-N-Loaded says:

Way to go!! Wishing you tons of good luck!!

    • Constance says:

Good luck. You are very brave.

    • helenk3 says:

good for you. IF you do not stand up for you, who will? wish you all the good luck in the world and respect the hell out of you for your backbone

    • 1539days says:

What’s the EEOC filing process like? I was thinking about doing that based on my treatment at my last job and a video where the CEO basically announced an age discrimination plan.

      • Woke Lola says:

It’s not bad, but they do throw every barrier in your way. I’m alleging Equal Pay discrimination because my boss told me while drunk off her ass that she paid the GUY before me 10 grand more for the same substantial duties. She also pushed him out, and that’s not speculation. She told me she pushed him out. I don’t actually have to go through the EEOC, but I am because I have 300 beautiful days of protection and I’m going to use every one I need while I plan my extraction.

They give their information on the website, and I filed for an interview in under an hour. I’m waiting for an interview to open on their calendar. It’s the Miami office, so of course there are never any openings. Once I’m 60 days from the deadline, I can call and they have to expedite everything.

Good luck. That is such bullshit. Fight back, man!

He is a very sick scary fuck. He looks like a sadistic villain in a Hollywood b movie. The idea that it is our president is enough to make me cry. Look at that clip. What a monster. The monsters aren’t under the beds, or in the closet, or behind the curtains. They are in public office, and some private offices. We need a monster hunter.

      • lateblum says:

If this were a tweet, I’d re-tweet it as often as I could!

      • lyn5 says:

What’s funny is how the lefties can’t own their votes for FJB. They are talking about 2024 now. Ef them all to hell for allowing this pedo fascist creep to be pResident.

      • Constance says:

FJB sure believes in himself.. So since it is clear that Covid is stable, if not over, we need to ask what the hell the Military is actually doing? I have heard that the National Guard is called up in 31 states mostly Republican. Money Werx said in his January 12 Youtube that there seems to be a lot of fighters up lately as well as a lot of heavy troop and equipment movers.
