Raleigh, NC too. ! Global (cough) warming hits the south and mid-Atlantic…
Hey Denise! Cool pic! I was just headed this way to post that I don’t have snow envy anymore. It’s so pretty and quiet this morning. No one in the neighborhood is up shoveling snow or scraping cars, so it’s all undisturbed yet, except for animal tracks.
I was looking out the back door at our 3 inches of snow. Everything is covered in white. Just then a big fat fluffy Cardinal flew onto the bird feeder. And me with no camera. But he was beautiful. And I have heard that the sudden appearance of a cardinal can be a message from the afterlife. So if that was you mom, Good Morning!❤
We used to have a big flock of cardinals in our back yard. Elliesdad loved them so much I filled the bird feeders with safflower seeds because cardinals love them. I continued to do it after he died, but the flock of cardinals moved on. Now my most frequent bird visitors are finches. But I’ve had to cut down on how many feeders I have because the bears have moved in, too. Elliesdad would have been tickled if that had happened on his watch. ❤
❤
Yeah, I think Raleigh got 3-4 inches. It’s 20 out, so I guess I’ll stay in the house. Long as the power stays on, I don’t care.
Still no snow here. 😟 It didn’t even get as cold as they predicted. Now they’ve moved the very cold to next week. But they promised 2-4” of snow overnight tonight.
I believe no one.
Pretty!
That’s terrific!
Loved this!!
Good Morning.
I never saw this one. I’ll have to watch for the reruns.
If omicron were the cure . . .
It always makes me smile when folks from the south post videos and pics of snow falling. I see a lot of pictures of snow covered landscapes after the snow has stopped from northerners, but seldom pictures of the white stuff coming down except on the news when they send some schmuck out to stand next to a highway. It hit home with me when I had a student who had just moved from Florida. He was glued to the window watching the snow falling. I assured him it would be over by the end of the school day, and he would be able to play in it, but he wanted the experience of feeling it fall on him. I was happy to oblige. When I asked him if it felt different than standing out in the rain, the poet in him came out. “Rain hits you. Snow touches you softly.” Before the winter was over, he experienced a pelting snowfall one wouldn’t choose to stand out in, but I was pleased it wasn’t his first.
“Rain hits you. Snow touches you softly.”
Love that. 🙂
I have fond memories of big fluffy flakes gently falling in the dark night as I walked the streets of Minneapolis in the wee hours of the morning, going home after a party.
I have similar memories from high school, the year we lived in Oswego, New York, which is on Lake Ontario and is SERIOUSLY snowy. Taking long walks with The Boy Next Door under the softly falling snow and the bright moon.
He didn’t age well, BTW.
That’s like an hour away from me. I have a different lake providing the snow.
It was very pretty. Not so much fun as a HS student, though.

an informative read. why the dems are so worried about this group.
It’s a balmy 19 degrees here. I took Nanook for her walk. Now she’s pretending she’s a draft stopper at the front door. Hank has himself wrapped up in two blankets in a sunny spot. They couldn’t be more different. Me, I have a pot of soup on the stove. I can do the walk in the cold with Ellie, but then I need to hang out with Hank.
You’re such a good mom❣️

What are the Democrat Socialists going to do with all these crazy people they’ve created when the wheels fall off their bus?
Great point.
Why do you think they’re trying to pass a “voting rights” bill?
That’s a plan for making the store shelf problem worse and not making the COVID situation any better.
Katie Pavlich @KatiePavlich
With all due respect, I’m not that impressed with the left finally coming to grips with concepts and science we knew about in May 2020. Not to mention ignoring warnings from conservatives about government overreach and consequences of COVID theater. It’s actually infuriating.
They were applauding because the audience prompts told them to applaud.
They should go back to using cow poo!

If you’d like some laughs and some Trump love, catch Tucker’s interview on his Today show with Rod Blagojevich. If you’ve forgotten, Blagojevich was a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice while under indictment, and one of the last things Trump did before he left office was to pardon him and send him home to his family. After Obama helped send him to prison- and not a minimum security prison. Blagojevich served his time in maximum security.
Looks good. I need to watch the second half of Rowe’s.
Blago is great.
I miss her!

Watched two shows–PBS’s Around the World in 80 Days and Best Sellers–where each daughter finds out her daddy is a liar and fraud. Is this a new lefty theme?
How did you like “Around the World”?
I like it. PBS is showing one episode each week on Sundays. Episode 4 is tomorrow. It looks like eight episodes.
I like it, too. I was happy to have seen it from the beginning. I can see why so many people like David Tennant in Dr Who.
He was good in Broadchurch.
Omg! I had completely forgotten about Broadchurch. What a great series with such an amazing cast. Yes.
I first recall being impressed when he played the title role in the Casanova mini series.
He was a good Hamlet too. Heh, Broadchurch made me invent a new adjective: ‘Broadchurch sad’.
Completely accurate.
Watched Best Sellers on Starz.
Right up there with “Mommy’s Going Away” or whatever
Not that new. Since shows like Doctor Who went woke years ago, “bad dads” were a staple of stories. It’s not well known, because people stopped watching the show by then.
The very same people who used to push eugenics and forced sterilization. Not shocked.
They also push mandatory vaccines and masks. Especially on children.
Did any of you women watch And Just Like That?
I wasn’t a fan of Sex in the City. Did not like AJLT on first watch, but I had several conversations with women about aging and rewatched. It definately goes way to woke. I think it was gutsy for SJP to go natural. We had started the chat a little while back over Tucker calling Pelosi Michael Jackson. My female friends were really offended. I think age has made me more interesting looking I like the grey. It was intriguing to discuss albeit with some anger.
I declared women go under the knife for women. Men are never attracted to the alien look plastic surgeons create. Courtney Cox and Madonna are sad to behold.
I got a lot of anger for posing direct questions. Aging is such a different thing for women. I guess some guys go through it with balding. Maybe a minority of men try and fight time but it is always wierd to see a lineless face with old hands and neck.
I feel like I know the characters from SITC. The gay bars had viewings when it was originally on. I could go on about how even though the book was written by a woman the tv show was run, written by gay men. I still know women my age who loved it. Holly Golightly was a dude.
Aging not gender was our combat. I argued women make women subject themselves. I think Jane Fonda is a great example. She is 80!
I think most of AJLT is garbage. Poorly written very woke cheap, lazy story lines. I never sat down and watched SITC but I know all the characters names. It was a cultural event for good or bad. Revisiting almost 20 years later could have been epic. It was not unlike Friends. I did not have a TV in NY but I knew who Rachel and Ross were. Showing women age naturally. It is interesting to me. Nearly every woman I know hated the reboot. They seem to want some magical thinking where no one grows old. I actually attended group therapy. The counselor brought out a poster board with Mein Kampf written across the top. She had no idea. I even said my struggle/fight. No idea it was Adolf Hitler. I bring this up because I have had a few months that to say the least have been different. Men who drink way too much are looked at differently than women. I can tie one on and sleep with a stranger. It is rarely judged. A woman gets tanked and wakes up in a strange bed she is judged. I have made a mess. I try to be honest. Shay knows. I walk into a detox I am treated far better than a woman coming in with same blood alcohol. No one around me is writing me off. No one. I am struggling to maybe perhaps try again. I fucked up twice in six months. Parents were parked outside willing to drive me to rehab AGAIN. These people let me monitor their kids. No one is judging me. I have tended to all their children. I never drank when given trust. I did not get bad until covid.
I resent the Hillary’s the Kamalas for using sexism as a weapon. I know people keep giving me second and third chances. I have been to the darkest hour I know I would be treated like shit if I were a woman. It is female nurses that treat woman like garbage. People keep giving me another chance. Were I a vagina I’d be written off.
I have no trouble believing that a lot of women’s focus on appearance has to do with other women. Mom was an expert needlewoman and went to workshops, conventions, etc. Almost all the women would all dress up and wear their fanciest jewelry. There would be at the most 2 men there, and lot of times, they would be gay.
On the other hand, men might not like the extreme plastic surgery look, but a lot of times, they aren’t attracted to women in their age group either, especially as that group becomes older. When a friend was dating in her 40’s, the only group she was attracting was in their late 50’s/early 60’s. Men in their 40’s/early 50’s were interested in women in their 30’s.
So, fear of being alone and invisible is part of it too, I think.
Move to France. Most men here do NOT seem to go through the middle-aged (or “better”) phase of chasing 25-year-old girls. When I was dating (late 40s) I mostly went out with men my own age. The only men outside my age range who approached me were younger–not retirees. The H man is 13 years younger than I am, which did not thrill me but now I don’t really think about it much, since he is still a grown-ass man with an education and a job and I’m not a sugar mama.
And that concludes the only nice thing I have to say about France.
The French seem to have a real thing about “cougars” before it became a thing in America. Also, Macron.
Ha ha. I was just happy that men my OWN AGE seemed to prefer same-generation women.
There’s a AJLT fan group on Facebook I follow since I don’t have premium or streaming channels and I love spoilers. Meh. Even the hardcore SATC fans are having a hard time with all the WOKINESS so I’m pretty much stuck with the LGBTQ activists defending the new lead who’s not a Her but a Them/Their who gave Miranda a hand job in Carrie’s kitchen who listened while recovering from hip surgery…….or something. Sounds too exhausting to care.
There were a lot of spoilers about the Peleton thing, which was also dumb. I’m not watching either but I don’t think any of the actors really moved on past SATC into anything more successful.
Beauty isn’t one my strong suits. When I leave the house, I do the best I can with what I have, but I don’t fuss over it. I’m smart, I’m funny at times, and I always pay attention when someone is talking to me. I’ve never had a difficult time finding myself in the company of men. It’s kind of a litmus test. If you walk into a room and don’t turn heads, then it might take awhile for a man to find you, but when one does, he finds himself in the presence of someone who would like to get to know him. I have never dated a man who is shallow. That’s not to say a beautiful woman can’t be smart, funny, a good listener, loyal. etc., but initially she doesn’t know if she’s in the company of someone who cares about those things, and by the time she does know she isn’t, she may have invested a lot of herself in a jackass. My college roommate was and still is drop dead gorgeous. She’s Barbie, and I’m Midge. She’s also smart, funny, etc. She has had a whole string of loser men in her life, including two husbands who have treated her like dirt. She adored Elliesdad, and often asked me how I found him, but I didn’t. He found me. She admits she thought it was fun to walk into a party and find herself the center of attention, but it came at a cost.
I admit I’ve never seen an episode of Sex in the City or Friends so I can’t comment on those characters or the actors who played those roles. I know when I see someone like Jill Biden try to dress like she shops at Forever 21, the word that comes to mind is “pathetic” so if Sarah Jessica Parker is choosing to celebrate how she looks at whatever age, more power to her.
From a man’s point of view- Dustin Hoffman on his role in Tootsie:
I kind of thought some of the highest physical standards are from gay men to other men.
While I believe a lot women do things to make other women recognize how beautiful they are, it’s more about making other women feel they can’t compete than trying to please other women. Gay men aren’t in competition for women, and the majority of men aren’t interested in them sexually so the pool of available partners is much smaller making the competition more intense. Especially if the goal is a long term relationship and not just a brief encounter. If an unattractive woman shows up at a frat party and sends out signals she’s just looking for a hookup, she’ll “do” for just about any guy there after the pretty girls have already mounted the stairs. Same dynamic with a gay guy if some of the frat guys are openly gay enough to advertise they’re in the market for a one-nighter. Handsome guys first, but then anyone who is left. My four years in a men’s college gave me a lot of time to observe men in their natural habitat when there aren’t many women around and to see what women do when there are so many available men, there really isn’t any need to compete.
Ii knew a guy who once taught English comp at an all-girls high school. He said that with no guys around (except faculty and staff who were off-limits) the girls stopped wearing make=up and shaving their legs etc. But when there was a coed event with the related all-boys school it was very different.
A lot of the guys who are into competitive bodybuilding are gay. When Arnold Schwartzenegger was just starting out he did some gay porn stuff.
Democrats running for office in Texas generally are a few eggs short of a dozen.
You can certainly include me in this group.

Pathological Gaslighting Narcissist Anthony Fauci Sits In Office Surrounded By Images Of Himself That Would Do Joseph Goebbels Proud
The glimpse into the nation’s top infectious disease expert’s workspace started making the rounds on social media Wednesday after an eagle-eyed Twitter user noticed the images of Fauci. The footage of President Biden’s chief medical adviser first appeared in the “Fauci” documentary released in September last year. In the documentary, Fauci, 81, can be seen sitting at his computer typing what appears to be an email as a canvas print of his likeness looms over him. A framed photo of what appears to be Fauci’s face can also be seen perched on a bookshelf behind him. And a Dr. Fauci bobblehead is spotted on a different shelf in close range.

I got a message from one of my former students who asked me if I was playing “Wordle”, and if I was, could I give her hint because she just wasn’t getting it, and since I taught her how to figure out where the two trains collide, maybe I could help with this. I wasn’t, but I played a few rounds for her. It accomplished nothing productive for me :-), but I did work out some strategies for her. If you’re playing Wordle, and it’s taking you all six tries to get the word, or you’re not getting the right answer, then this is what I told my young friend. If you don’t care, or don’t want a hint. TTFN
Getting the right answer on the first try is pure luck. Getting it on the second is rare. Getting it on the third is very often doable. If you can’t get it at all, then don’t choose Wheel of Fortune to sign up for. Try Jeopardy instead. 🙂
First step in my strategy was to find two five letter words that will get you as many of the vowels as you can and some of the most used consonants in the English language and don’t repeat any letters. An example would be “arose” and “unity”. They get you all 6 vowels and r, s, n. and t, four of the most used consonants in the English language, but there are lots of good combinations. Finding them was part of the fun.
After you enter them, you will know which letters don’t appear in the mystery word. You will also know what positions the ones that do appear are in or are not in. From that information you can often arrange and rearrange the letters until some possibilities pop out at you.
If none do, then it’s time to pick a 3rd word. You have 16 letters you haven’t used. You don’t need to pick words with the letters you’ve already picked in their correct positions because the idea is to get more correct letters. Let’s say you know “o” is in the third spot. Limiting yourself to only words with “o” in that position is only affirming something you already know. Try instead to pick a word with as many of the unused letters as you can.
If a word still doesn’t jump out at you, use the same strategy to try again. My young friend has gone from not being able to find the mystery word to being able to do it in 5 or 6 tries. She’s ecstatic, and I get to keep my teacher crown for another day.
If you haven’t caught the craze and would like to play, here’s the link. It appears to be a bit addictive. While teaching her how to play was the addiction for me. 😉
https://wordlegame.org/
Great strategy!
Thanks, em! I just found out about Wordle in the past week. I was going to try it this weekend. BTW, my iPad changes Wordle to Wordless everytime I type it. HAHAHA
What a cute little game!! I just won my first game on the fifth try. I want to win money!😂
Unfortunately, all you get is bragging rights. 🙂 But it is a good brain exercise.
Ha!
My DIL introduced me to Wordle just last night, recommending very similar strategy. 🙂
My friend suggested adieu as the first word
Shade … I gave up after four tries.
Had everything but the h.
… and a brain. LOL;
It took me 4 tries to get “elbow” and 3 tries to get “bacon”.
I like the strategy to start with a word loaded with vowels.
Did arose and unity and came up with crest on the third line for the win. This is fun. Thank you, em!
It also helped to read the instructions.
That’s a good one too.
I followed your strategy when I played the second time, and got the word by the fifth line.
My comments on Sex in the City were not meant to be about the show, but rather my 50 something friends reaction to it and Carrie (SJP) The same women who lost it on me for forwarding the Pelosi is Michael Jackson clip. I got all kinds of criticismfor being sexist. Response to what had been a cultural phenomenon in its heyday. It was a show the single women of the same age identified with. I will never understand shoe obsession. It was in its on way Mary Tyler Moore or That Girl. Young making money living in the city looking for love.
Nearly every woman I was friends with from college days waited until 40 to have kids. They live in tony suburbs far away from shitty schools, but hate Trump voters.
I get that the show meant something and should have stayed in the memory hole. We are talking about people who made enough to brunch. Reflection createsor lends itself to fantasy. It is easy to look back and think things were like a rom com. When you are in your 50’s hating your kids and bored to tears with partner you might want to glorify something that never was. Everyone ,in my experience, kinda despises their kids.
I took issue with the criticism of looks. SJP is 55ish. She looks 55ish. I was attacked for defending her choice to not be Katherine Helmond in Blade Runner. The show is not good, but I felt like saying hoorah for the age thing and somehow I get called sexist again. Same women who went after me for supporting Hillary in 2008. They hated Clinton when it washer against obama.obama was like 2000 dollar shoes. He was fashionable. I get it and when I nearly killed others by forwarding the Pelosi is Michael Jackson bit I listened to the women who called Palen a cunt and marched on Washington in pussy hats tell me how awful I am. My patriarchal something is the reason for lead in Detroit water. I am somehow the reason for every rape going back to biblical times. Okay I am Pandora’s Box. I get set upon by saying brava to SJP for being an executive producer and wanting to look real. I am sexist if I say San Fran looks comical for face lifts but I’m also sexist for denying a fictional character the right to feel pretty. Huh?
Many years ago on this blog the Klown and I had a discussion about how there was a sexual revolution, and women lost. Some of us limited what we wanted, got it, and parted ways with the battle before it consumed us. Other women continued to fight for things that in the long run were against their own best interests. They are living in a world of their own making and resent it, but, of course, having got what they thought they wanted, their unhappiness is someone else’s fault.

Apropos of nothing, I justify watched Joanna Gaines Magnolia Kitchen. I don’t want her food. I want her kitchen. Almost went weak at the knees. Oh my Goddess of cooking, what a kitchen.

It’s probably a set.
They can “set it” right in my house. ❤
I have a feeling she’s going to do for kitchens what she did for subway tile and shiplap 🙂

I like Nancy Fuller’s Farmhouse kitchen and recipes better. Joanna’s fun to watch too. Well, it’s not like I’m going to try anybody’s recipes unless they send their prep staffs over 😀
❤
Nancy has a great kitchen too! And she is a chef, where Joanna Gaines is a self taught home cook. But there is something about Joanna’s kitchen that I absolutely love. The stone walls, marble countertops, the wood, the stove, just everything!
❤️
😂
Autocorrect, leave my posts alone! You don’t have to change just, to justify.
Question since I was thinking about SITC
Do you buy that Chris Noth was who they say. I adjacent knew him. I served him lots and lots of drinks. He was obnoxious but never got a rapey vibe. He didn’t need to force anyone. This was Law & Order days.women threw themselves at him. I have read the literature. Rape is about power. I just dont see him being that guy and I have shut him off and put him in a cab.
Also why did none of these women speak up during #MeToo? I had a unique friendship with Peter Neufeld. If you r not familiar he was a Broadway producer. Think Cats. I got to know him over years. He was really fat. Obese as it were. We were friends. Young men in the chorus would throw themselves at him. I am saying aren’t there two sides to every coin. I did not know Peter toever take advantage of anyone. He got accused. There is no way a man can defend himself in today’s climate. You get accused you are guilty. I had big problems with what was done to Kevin Spacey. He picked up a boy which was not right but he did nothing. A drunk man picked up a minor at an adult party kid should not have beendrinking with adults. I dont see why Spacey was ended. Ihave snorted blow with him. He is not my favorite person, but what the press did was unconscionable. He was labeled a monster. Not true. I don’t like him but I will defend.

https://www.naturalnews.com/2022-01-20-the-vaccine-holocaust-is-americas-chernobyl.html
Actually, Chernobyl didn’t lead to as large a loss of life as some people think. Definitely less than the tens of thousands who died in nursing homes from people who weren’t left in the hospital long enough to not transmit COVID.
Crazier and crazier everyday.
Wow, didn’t know RFK, Jr was a rabid Trumpster🙄 Kennedy was one of the main organizers of the rly today and a keynote speaker. It was actually a very diverse list of speakers, don’t know about the attendees.
It wasn’t as well attended as the ones in Europe, these anti-mandate marches were international. I think the weather AND the feds actions on 1-6, combined with the strict proof of vaccine, ID and mask rules to be on the streets of DC, kept the numbers low. Another factor the recent court rulings on the mandates.
I think a lot of people think the wind down of the pandemic is going to take care of the mandates. Why risk much on something that’s about to be a giant fizzle? At this point I’m more concerned about how much progress the left has made in getting people to accept censorship. I have a friend who announced on FB the company her partner works for has closed the offices and sent everybody home because “the virus is running rampant again”. Usually, she’d had dozens of comments urging people to mask up, get boosters, and to stay home, but she posted that early this morning, and there isn’t a single comment.
.I agree, omicron seems to be doing what the vaccines promised to do, helping us achieve herd immunity.
There are still pockets of people scared. My sister that lives here is the biggest hypochondriac🙄 She’s still all wound up, she’s so proud to have gotten on the list for the free tests on the first day🙄 If she sneezes, has a headache, a sore throat, feels off in any way at all, she schedules a covid test. I’ve lost count of how many she’s had🙄
One of my son’s co-workers was sick a couple of weeks ago. The college tested him, covid. They made everyone in his office work from home for week. They all laughed because the sick guy literally had the sniffles. In fact his headache was his worst symptom and what made him decide to stop by the clinic for something. He never in a million years thought it would cause everyone to be sent home🤣
The natural order is for a disease like this to become endemic. If you want someone to attempt bioengineering in the belief that it’s better than biology, Fauci is your man. And that’s what happened. The medical community tried to stop the most effective form of distribution with 10 cent masks and a genealogically engineered biotoxin and both did jack shit.
The next congresswoman from Loony Land?
Pay to play, bitches. I despise everyone who voted and cheated for this POS.

I am trying to think through some things. Mostly related to writing and how bad some tv shows are. Like really bad. I was a reader for scripts right out of college. It was a joke job. I recently watched 28 Days not the zombie film the one with Sandra Bullock in rehab. There was so much potential but it splinters. A 17 year old girl addicted to being addicted. she obsesses over a soap opera lives vicariously has a stone cold bitch of a mother. She is institutionalized. Her needs are met by being a ward. She is parented by a facility. I thought wow this can go somewhere. She dies. It’s an afterthought.
I realize the tale was about Bullock’s character but how do you frame as a writer such a rich character and walk away. I wanted to write when I was young. I got smothered because I am white trash. I got lucky a random test said I was above average. 139 not genius high average. I was drunk and high on coke. I took SATs intoxicated and scored high enough that schools came calling. I went away to school for free. I got kicked in the head. I was someone who had met a parents fist on occasion. I did not know past tense of drag was dragged. I thought it was drug. I was illiterate on a college level. I learned to speak. I have held a brutal infatuation with writers all my life. Very pathetic my fist love was Colleen McCou – ugh vowels and letters.
The Thorn Birds was my first read. One day there was just a book. I had by then discovered I was gay. Things were not easy. Must add I had open hearts and big hole in my throat they refer to it as something like traechotomy. Just a hole in my throat. I was just a kid with no one to talk to ever. I read Thorn Birds just because mailman left it on the stoop. It changed me. I fell madly in love with potential.
The only way to become a writer is to write. It sounds trivial, but it’s the truth. Unless you’ve been locked up somewhere they removed all sharp objects from you, no one has stopped you from writing except you. Both my daughter and my daughter-in-law are published authors with books you can purchase on Amazon. My daughter-in-law has a book that made a New York Times “best summer reads” list, They both will tell you the only real obstacle to writing a novel, a memoir, short stories, or poetry is writing. There are no publishers, editors, or anyone else standing in your way until you’ve written something to show them. There are a lot of online writing groups you can joi

There are a lot of online writing groups you can join where you can get positive encouragement and hints for how to get motivated. My daughter started out in a group who took turns posting writing prompts every week to get the juices flowing. It was what she needed to get disciplined about setting aside time to write. On the other hand, my brother belongs to a group that’s nothing more than a pity party where everyone whines about wanting to be a writer, but nobody ever writes anything. Poke around and find a couple of groups and see which one gets you to have an outline for what you want to write or a chapter written in a month or so. When you’ve written something you’re proud of, share it with us.

China used the free market to make money, then used it to oppress their population.
She seems nice. I bet she’s a teacher.
Definitely not a learner.
