Did you know that nasturtiums are edible? I’ve prettied up many a salad with them

I have yet to try that. They are really pretty, and eating flowers has to be good for you!.

Update: The surgeons say that Dad’s surgery went well and that there has been some improvement. Hospital PT had him up and walking a little the afternoon after surgery. I’m assuming he’ll be moved to a rehab facility after some additional heal time. Everything else will depend on how well he does there. Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes.

“Customer:”Meat just keeps getting more expensive”
Butcher: “Actually, prices have been coming down”
      *****
I read about six months ago that was likely to happen The rising costs of livestock feed, fuel, etc. makes it cost prohibitive to maintain livestock herds, therefore there will be a transient excess of meat as herds are reduced. Prices will then increase significantly and if sanity returns to the govt., it will take years to restore livestock production back to “normal”.

The “Build Back Better” energy costs will be seen this fall in food prices, estimates of 20-30% increases. Best case, if that happens, it will be major increases in Sept.-Oct. before midterms; a major shock is needed, if it continues to be “boiling frogs” then we are truly screwed.

How often do they have to replace that tv after the dog jumps all over it?

    • Somebody says:

One of my dachshunds watches TV, but I would never let her jump on it and scratch it😬

My dachshund will bark at dogs on commercials sometimes. My fave response was to a Jax Jaguar commercial with an actual leaping, roaring jaguar. Poor thing wet herself and took cover😟 I felt like a terrible mommy. That was the first time we realized she watches TV.

She prefers movies, especially spy type movies. She tolerates my rom-coms, but will often tire of them and find something else to do. She doesn’t care for war movies, but she’ll curl up with dad for a good spy movie or the occasional mystery or drama movie with me.

I know she can’t understand them, but it’s funny what her “tastes” are. She even fidgets or stands up to watch during suspenseful parts🤣 We assume it’s the soundtrack, but it’s cute.

The other dachshund hasn’t ever shown an interest.

      • elliesmom says:

Ellie likes to watch the Puppy Bowl and anything with horses.

        • votermom says:

Guilty! We block off the tv with a coffee table and laundry baskets because doggeh gets too excited when his favorite shows come on. – animals and Sumo wrestling.
He used to bark in excitement but we tell him to get a toy so it’s squeak squeak squeak the whole time!

      • taw46 says:

That’s cute that she prefers certain movies. Our dogs don’t watch anything. I have tried showing videos on the iPad to our Pomeranian, but she has no interest in them.

      • Miranda says:

Back in the early 90’s, one of our then kittens would try to play Zelda with us 🙂 It wasn’t great for the TV, but he was so cute leaping straight into the air, that we didn’t do much about it. Plus, the TV was one of those solid monsters, not a delicate flatscreen.
More recently, we had one who liked ice skating, and my remaining cat, enjoys watching people paint on Instagram.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

Well the cats love figure skating, especially pairs and dancing, and have been know to be interested in tennis and golf. but they usually sit and watch with a minimum of batting at the screen and they do not get their own TV to destroy . One likes to play games on an old tablet but she is very gentle. Now bird video on you tube can only be watched online in the presence of an adult human. They go nuts.

I did have cats when I was young that adored the space shots. The animations were even more popular.

She didn’t own the house. I believe it was her landlords that started the fundraiser for her, since she lost all of her possessions. She is well-loved by her neighbors and friends. And yes, I think Ms. Heche will be contributing quite a bit to this rebuilding.

We talked about this on our Zoom call. You can’t trust the Republicans, only a few of them speak out or stick together. We know that this would not happen, if they had spoken out from the beginning. That would have stopped the persecution of Trump and his family/friends. Most of it, anyway.

  78. lyn5 says:

    Roger Severino @RogerSeverino_

An FBI raid over Presidential Records Act compliance is quite the horse for the DOJ to bet its institutional reputation on. Especially when Hillary admitted to setting up a private e-mail server for government comms and deleted it all, but got away scot free. 1/

Biden must immediately order DOJ to disclose the full warrant application and DOJ must within two weeks indict or publicly close the case. You don’t raid a president’s home to go fishing for evidence, but only to get the final pieces needed to prosecute. /2

But given this DOJ’s abominable track record, it will likely announce nothing for the next year and 1/2 (but will selectively leak) and keep a cloud over Trump that will inflict maximum political damage. /3
