LOL, Scott Presler an “extremist”, Scott responds ….

    • elliesmom says:

Scott Pressler, and all of us, are far to the right of today’s Democrat Party. The thing is none of us has moved an inch from where we were 20 years ago. The folks on the left have just kept moving further and further away from us. I’ve started defining “far right” as “sane”. It’s a compliment. The crazies from all places on the spectrum have more in common with each other than any of them have with us- or Scott Pressler.

  2. DeniseVB says:

    I really miss Melania ❤

  3. swanspirit says:

    So do I. Very much

    • DeniseVB says:

The difference in rocking the styles is put them on a super model, not a Biden or Obama. I loved this jacket and Melania’s I-don’t-care-do-you? statement wear 🙂

      • Miranda says:

Most non-super-model women know better than to wear Jill Biden’s lampshade dress. Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush weren’t models, but they were always nicely dressed.

      • elliesmom says:

This dress and jacket would look lovely on Jill. It wouldn’t turn her into Melania, but it would make her be “the best Jill”. The best us is best any of us can ever hope to be.

I wear a lot more shorts at 71 then I ever would have predicted I would, but when I leave the neighborhood and enter civilization, I have skirts with panties/shorts attached that look a bit more age appropriate. None of them has panties as skimpy as hers are. Wearing something with more coverage than underwear is kind of the point when you are going to do things that make what’s under your skirt visible. My grandmother, who grew up poor, always said “if you aren’t born with class, then learn how to fake it”.

        • swanspirit says:

Also, her hair. Does she think she is Farrah Fawcett? Those spiky ends just look broken and messy. There are so many more styles that would be more flattering. A chin length bob, would would look so much better.

        • DeniseVB says:

I recently read an article on how The Golden Girls changed fashion trends for older women. When the series started, the actresses were only 51 to 63. I had no idea how young they were now 😉

          • elliesmom says:

I’m not a fan of the caftan so I’m glad that trend passed before I became “golden”. A lot of their styles are very unstructured, which isn’t my thing. Dorothy’s jackets looked more like loungewear. I like a lot of the cardigans they wore, but they always seemed out of place in Florida. Owning that many sweaters feels more like a northern thing. One of things that was fun about the Golden Girls was if you saw an outfit on a hanger, you knew immediately what character it belonged to. The costume designer developed an aesthetic for each of them and stayed true to it.

          • jadzia1971 says:

I LOOOOVE the caftan, but tbh I mostly wear them as nightgowns or swimsuit cover-ups.

          • jadzia1971 says:

I have fancy ones (technically they are takchitas, https://caftan-shop.fr/collections/takchita), but I really have no place to wear them, which is sad, because they are MUCH more flattering than a regular caftan.

  4. Anthony says:

All public rest rooms at the Port Authority now closed save for one. This morning I saw hair washing, ball washing, shaving, manscaping and fist fights.
    Thanks, Mayor 🖕

  5. DeniseVB says:

Jill should have pulled that dress over her face …..

    • Anthony says:

      Monkeypox from her uncircumcised frock?

    • lateblum says:

I think it’s Mother Nature punishing her for wearing clothes a smart 20-something wouldn’t wear. And a woman “of a certain age” wouldn’t even look at for her granddaughters.
Maybe Robin what’s her name from WaPo called the fashion police down on Dr Jill.

      • swanspirit says:

There are literally thousands of outfits Dr Breakfast Taco could have worn, that would have looked better than that sad dress.

        • DeniseVB says:

She’s on a beach vacation, so many cute, sassy sundresses she could have worn, even the stylish tunic and tights to hide her flabby legs would have been better 🙂

    • Constance says:

I bet she is relieved. Now she can be secluded and lounge out at the beach. Someone else will need to look after the chief diaper wearer.

      • DeniseVB says:

        I thought the same thing.

      • lateblum says:

She might be pretending. After all, she didn’t have to attend to him for the past few weeks because *he had the cooties. She got used to the freedom. She might even have gone out of her way to catch the bug to continue her vacation from diapers and bibs.

  6. elliesmom says:

How badly is Liz Cheney going to lose today?

    • Anthony says:

She’s expecting to. Planning to run for POTUS in 2024

      • lateblum says:

As a Republican or a Democrat?

      • elliesmom says:

I’ve seen everything from 30/70 to 40/60 predicted. I expect the Democrats will lose interest in her tomorrow. Outside of a Wyoming primary they aren’t going to gift her with votes from Democrats. If the GOPe is looking for a Never Trumper to run in the GOP primaries, they have better choices than Liz. If they think they need a woman, they’ll start pushing someone like Nikki Haley. Less baggage, more boxes checked.

If she chooses to run 3rd party, it’s not tepid Trump votes she’s going to get. If Trump declines to run, there won’t be anyone out there thinking, “I would have voted for Trump, but because he’s not running, I’m going to vote for Cheney.” If he does run, we already know the Never Trumpers will vote for the Democrat because they’ve already shown they will. Liz might end up the “conservative voice” on The View.

        • Somebody says:

I think bunny boiler Liz is an excellent choice for The View. She will fit right in with the rest of the women. She’ll speak up about tangential things when the paymasters decide the show needs a little controversy.

She’ll also find her way to Sunday show panels as the “conservative”. She’ll happily be the controlled opposition.

        • Constance says:

Oh my God. Lix as the conservative voice on The View! That is truly a case of putting all the obnoxious women in one media destination so they can be easily avoided.

    • lateblum says:

I don’t count on anything until it’s over any more. The 14000 democrats that live there could muster thousands of dead relatives and friends to vote for Liz over and over again before the day is done.

      • taw4 says:

I’m with you, I’ll wait and see. She won big last time, so waiting to see if all of those people leave her this time. I hope the polls are right. 🤞

  7. lateblum says:

Denise, I ❤️ the photo! The colors and image brightened my already bright morning.

Plus, dd seemed to have turned a corner and will likely be d’c from hospital this week.
Of course, I have gently interrogated, but interrogated nonetheless, the many doctors who have seen her throughout the last 13 days of inpatient care. It’s not a great hospital, but the staff is VERY capable and more than kind and available, and the doctors are VERY good for the most part. The one doc I have questions about is the primary doctor. But he at least called in the specialists who were direct, honest and invested in finding reasons for the downturn and now are preparing a discharge plan that will – if the nursing home follows the orders – continue the recovery and hopefully lead to good health. I’m still praying.

    • swanspirit says:

Am also still sending healing and prayers for speedy recovery. Am glad she is improving!❤🙏

    • Somebody says:

Great news Leslie! Hopefully the nursing home will follow the plan.

      How is your shoulder doing?

      • lateblum says:

Thank you❣️ I hope they will follow the plan, too. I’m there every week and can be there within 10 minutes. So they know I’ll be there if they don’t.

I’ve been “persuasive” in getting the nh to get transportation for her. – They wanted me to pay out of pocket for medical transportation because her insurance might not reimburse. I asked them what happens to the others who are in their care when they face the same situation. Do they discontinue providing medical transportation to them? Funnily, they resumed transportation for her that same week.

(Obviously I would have done what I could have to subsidize medical transportation but it seemed dd was being singled out for having a family member who was nearby. And *this family member is trying to get by on a substantially lower income than I’ve had since I started out as a social worker in community mental health in 1991.)

My arm/pinched nerve is responding to the steroids. This morning was the first morning that I woke up without pain in my shoulder since July 23. I spoke with insurance yesterday, and they will cover PT at Athletico and ATI outpatient sites. So today, I’ll be scheduling PT for my arm(s). Oddly enough, the same pain has now traveled to my left arm as well.
I hate taking steroids. They make me hungry all the time.

Thank you for asking. You deserved a much shorter response❣️

    • lyn5 says:

❤ Happy to hear there is a plan.

In case anyone is interested in the southern border. Juarez is calm because the military is in charge right now.

    • Constance says:

Our military or Mexico’s military? If it’s the USA military is that the National Guard or the actual active duty military?

      • Somebody says:

Mexican military or maybe their equivalent to the national guard. It’s the Governors of those northern Mexico states that brought in the military. They declared the cartels terrorist organizations, last I heard 19 cartel members had been apprehended.

I don’t know how their military chain of command functions.

        • mcnorman says:

They don’t have the funding that the cartels have. It’s awful. Normally, the cartels keep their garbage limited to organized crime. This is an unusual time because they are having no problem going after the civilian population without a care in the world.

      • mcnorman says:

Mexican military has been dispersed to keep the powder keg from going full nuclear.

What inflation? I just left a hoyty toyty niche grocery store. While shopping there, basically to kill time I stumbled across a clearance area off in a corner. They had 14.5 ounce cans of petite diced tomatoes, red gold brand, non-gmo, kosher, non-BPA liner, “sustainably farmed”. The cans were 99 cents with an expiration date of August 28, 2024.

So I grabbed some and then decided what heck I’ll grab a case of 12. My cashier wasn’t very bright and rang up the entire case for 99 cents🤣 So I just paid 8 cents per can of tomatoes. A quick Google search found that price to correlate with the year 1907. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what inflation? Oh you mean meat and eggs? I don’t want to talk about those, but I’ve got some tomatoes🤣

Went to the dentist for my regular cleaning. They didn’t give me a free toothbrush or anything. Cost-cutting in Biden economy.

I’d like to comment on classification.

Aside from my current job, I live in a place where lots of stuff was classified. Now, I have to submit things for classification because they involve the military. When you classify something, you are just giving it a classification. Something can be low-level classified as “don’t show anyone who doesn’t need to see it” up to “only 6 guys in the US should see this.”

The president has broad authority to classify or reclassify something. In fact, I’m pretty sure Biden could have something RE-CLASSIFIED as SCI / Top Secret / Trump is a traitor for having this, AFTER the fact. Like, it could be sitting in Mar-a-Lago classified as not secret and be re-classified at top secret and suddenly there’s a crime.
