    What a lovely arrangement.

I hope Helen’s power is restored today. FPL made pretty good progress in Charlotte County yesterday, about 22,000 were restored. I’d sure like to know if she’s OK.

      Been praying for her

    • swanspirit says:

Those are some intense colors. Really lush and gorgeous. I hope we hear from Helen soon.

      • Constance says:

I’m getting worried. I’m trying to imagine her in her unaffected relatives house hanging out waiting for power to be restored to her place, but without her computer so she can’t check in.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

Checking in while getting ready for tonight’s meeting to see if Helen had managed pop in to TCH. Although If she still has no power I am sure she is trying to reserve her phone charge for emergencies.

  2. Somebody says:

Helen if you are out there, I just read a report that says your area should be fully restored by Sunday. The majority 90 to 95% by Friday.

This is what happens when you put a pervert in charge. CHOP used to have a stellar reputation. Trust me, somewhere in this mix is a greedy hospital administrator, too. When I was working on pediatrics, our two top choices for transporting children with complex cases, were Johns Hopkins, and CHOP.
Children in foster care are possibly the most vulnerable minor population in the country. People preying on them should be thrown in jail.

Follow the money. Insurance reimbursement is not what it used to be. There is prior authorization for everything that used to be standard care.

Lyn, I’m really enjoying “Recipes for Love and Murder”. First I had to figure out that not all of the older women were named “Tannie”. This is the first show I’ve watched that’s set in South Africa. Then the star’s voice was driving me crazy because I knew I recognized it. She’s Jocasta in “Outlander”, but here she’s much younger and considerably more slender. Now I have to wait until the holidays when kumquats are in season so I can make kumquat marmalade and bacon sandwiches. The chocolate cake I can have now. Food is apparently the way to any man’s heart no matter what his sexual orientation is. The mutton curry is probably a pass, especially because it leads to murder. 🙂

Photoshop or Real? I’m told this is what 25k windows look like which makes sense on Billionaires row in Naples. I still wouldn’t hang around to take a picture. Would this water be a lot rougher if caused by a storm surge ? I vote Photoshop. Also if chunks of framing, a car or boat booped into that it would weaken that wall greatly.

Denise, I saw that yesterday and that was my thought, it can’t be real. But I looked at her profile on twitter, she is an artist, lives in Naples, and worked in television in Los Angeles for years. Link is

I still find that hard to believe. I’m like you , storm surge in a hurricane is rapid & violent, and brings in lots of debris. If she lived by a river, than yes, I could see a slow rise (but it would still have debris). If this is real, then it was taken after the worst of the storm passed them by (see the sky) and before the water receded.

We have hurricane impact doors and windows after Irma. I sure hope they work like that! Lol

Last night I mentioned the story of the Providence teacher who continues to be harassed because of her comments about CRT and transgenderism. William Jacobson is a Rhode Islander so he often spotlights stories from here. This link is to where the story is now, but throughout it are links that let you see how it all unfolded.

It’s “the First Monday in October”. It’s 1981. The first woman will be appointed to the Supreme Court in 1981 for real. It’s Jill Clayburgh and Walter Mathau. If you didn’t see it when it came out, or just want to see it again. it’s streaming for $2,99 on Prime and a few other places. I can’t find it free. He’s the liberal. She’s the conservative. My friends at the time thought “they got it wrong”. 🙂

I don’t remember seeing that movie, I’ll have to go watch it.

I was living in Phoenix and working for an airline when Reagan nominated Sandra Day O’Connor to the Supreme Court. She flew back and forth to DC on our airline while this was taking place. It was an exciting time for us, a woman and someone from AZ, and we enjoyed having brief contacts with her when she checked in at our gate.

I miss movies like this. Will have to rent it.

Funny I woke up at 2 and couldn’t get back to sleep. Searched for something fun and mindless to watch. By chance I came across Goliath Awaits. A mini series with Christopher Lee and Emma Samms. Cruise ship sunk by the Nazi’s. Passengers and some of the crew lived under water for 40 years. Total cheese whiz but fluff is what you want in the wee hours. Was released in 1981.

    • 1539days says:

I saw this years ago on cable. The only thing I can remember is they were hearing a case on pornography.

    • taw46 says:

I just watched this, it was a good movie. Thanks for recommending it.

    • lateblum says:

I remember watching it years ago. I haven’t thought about it in a very long time. Thanks for reminding me.

I remember a helluva lot of people evacuating, though I do remember the predictions being a little off for most affected areas. Helen chose to stay at the time the landfall was Tampa further to the north. Taw thought the worst of the storm would pass them in KW, but brought damaging winds much closer. But I guess the media/politicians need their clickbait hits and viewer eyeballs to pay the bills. I love this guy and it’s funny when DeSantis tells the TRUTH, he’s a mean guy like Trump, lol.

None of my family or friends in Florida evacuated either.

  9. Constance says:
Over 500 “peer reviewed” scientific articles published since August 2020 are being retracted by one publisher of journals. A ring of editors and reviewers was discovered. More will likely be retracted.
