I was up at 5 am to watch the lunar eclipse. Clear skies, lots of stars, and a red moon. I will be going to vote in a couple of hours, it’s just down the street from me.

    • 1539days says:

I snapped a picture, but the moon was pretty small in the sky. I’m going to vote after work. It’s around freezing right now here.

      • taw46 says:

Freezing, brrr, I don’t miss that. The temperature here has actually dropped a few degrees because of that storm out there. It is now 83 degrees.

I’m playing with a new search engine, looks like it’s all set for election results right now. 🙂

  5. taw46 says:

I posted an update from Trump’s rally last night. In case you missed it, he said he will make an important announcement on 11/15 at Mar-a-Lago. He said he didn’t want to distract from today’s midterms. Certainly sounds like he will be running.

I don’t watch all of Trump’s rallies, but I do see parts of them. People on twitter say all he does is talk about himself. It is obvious they don’t watch even one rally. Trump does talk about what he has done, and how the election was stolen. He does that at every rally. And his appearance at rallies keeps his name out there. But he also talks about who is running and asks the people to vote for them. He praises the candidates and calls them up to the stage to speak. He ends the rally by listing all the ways the left has hurt our country, then he is positive about how we can make it right again. He does this at every rally I have watched.

Last night at the end, he called out every Republican by name that he supported, including DeSantis (he did not call him Desanctimonious), and asked for people to vote for those candidates today. He has spent a lot of his time flying all over the country to support MAGA candidates, people just don’t want to acknowledge that.

    • DeniseVB says:

The people who complain about Trump’s speeches have never heard Biden or Harris speak 😀

      • Somebody says:

Or Obama, talk about a narcissist.

Trump has carried some of these candidates on his shoulders. Some would have won without his help, but there are many that owe their rise to Trump. Time and time again a virtual unknown Trump endorsed or rallied for within a week shot up in the polls.

    • driguana says:

good summary of his rallies…been to two in South FL and they are pretty amazing events…not too worried about the DeSantis comment…feels like all is well…off to vote…

      • taw46 says:

I wish I could go to at least one rally!

        • driguana says:

I was quite surprised at the first one we went to in Ft Lauderdale several years back…very diverse people, great vibe, very secure and The Don was fantastic…the opposite of what the lefties would have you believe…

          • taw46 says:

My cousin went to one of the early ones when he was running in 2016, when it was easier to get inside. She loved it and all the people she talked to.

          • taw46 says:

I will have to be satisfied with waving to him in his motorcade in April 2018, when he came to Key West to visit the Joint Interagency Task Force South. Crowds of people and lots of fun.

I wish Illinois took that attitude. I realized that due to the ongoing distress from my neck, shoulder and arm – despite the PT – or maybe because of it – I’ve been going to bed earlier than usual and I had no idea what today’s real forecast is. So I went to my AccuWeather app on my phone and was actually blocked from using it until I opened propaganda for Pritzker that said he raised the Social Security monthly benefits for people in Illinois!!!
I was furious! I tweeted something about this I was so angry.
Then I thought that perhaps some of my pain might be related to the election and decided to turn off the tv. Maybe I’ll see some decrease in pain today.
I canceled yesterday’s PT because the pain suddenly increased after Thursday’s session. I had to ice my neck and shoulder Thursday and Friday. That never happened since I began therapy. I’m exhausted and will schedule the MRI they authorized.
I hope the stress r/t the medical issues and the stress r/t the election go away soon.

  10. taw46 says:

I just voted and my little place was packed! Monroe County votes red, at least since 2016, but Key West itself always goes blue.

  11. elliesmom says:

I’m becoming too cynical. There’s little doubt the Republicans will at least take the House, and there hasn’t been for months. Pelosi’s reign as Speaker has been coming to the end, she’s known it. If she tries to stick around as Minority Leader in hopes of getting her gavel back in 2024, she has a real risk of being another Ruth Bader Ginsberg who lost her chance to retire. Pelosi will retire January 1st, and Gavin Newsome will appoint her replacement. That has been baked into these midterms for months. She is leaving because the Democrats have lost. Pelosi is saying the recent attack on her husband is influencing her decision. How convenient is that? Leaving because she’s a loving wife instead of a political loser.

    Karl Rove loves potatoes.

    • elliesmom says:

I did see that. The issue is Pennsylvania was on track to remove the step of checking to see if people have voted both by mail and in person.

      • elliesmom says:

This is how I understand it. If I send my mail-in ballot to the my town clerk, she confirms the ballot is accepted, sends me a voicemail, email, or text telling me my ballot has been accepted. She also marks the voter list given to the poll workers as my already having voted should I show up at the polls. But what if I get to the polls to vote before my mail-in ballot gets recorded?

There also needs to be a check that establishes I haven’t yet voted before my mail-in ballot is accepted. Pennsylvania wants to skip the check for previous votes before mail-in ballots are accepted. Rove says in 2020 a small scale spot check found 440 voters in PA who had voted both by mail and in-person. But by then the votes had all been co-mingled so they didn’t do a full scale check. The lawsuit is to keep the votes sequestered until the names can be checked. It should only affect mail-in ballots that arrive after the polls open,

Started drinking early, toasting the end of democracy as we know it, aka, GOP leads congress. But as mentioned above, the Dems will be working harder than ever cheating to keep that from happening. Fasten your seatbelts, we’re in for a bumpy ride.

  34. lateblum says:

  35. Mothy67 says:

Voted. It was busy. A paper ballot that is scanned. We should be allowed to check how our own vote was counted. How hard would it be? I had no problem verifying I did not win 1.9 billion dollars on my phone. If Fetterman wins I don’t know why I should ever vote again. I walked to and from to vote. 25 minutes each way. Took two different routes and saw maybe ten signs total.

    • lateblum says:

In all of my town, I saw only 2 signs for the Republican running against Sen Duckworth. To be fair, I didn’t see many more than that for Duckworth.

      • elliesmom says:

I’m not sure signs are good indicators this time. The only sign in my neighborhood this time- the neighborhood that had 8ft Trump flags last time- is in my front yard, and it’s for a state senator who is running unopposed. I think it’s a lot like not answering polls.

        • Mothy67 says:

I agree our main road usually is littered with signs. I think things have become so devisive that people are reluctant. I put my Oz sign in the house on Halloween. I didn’t feel the need in the past to do as such. I was going to wear my MAGA hat to vote. Trump isn’t on the ballot so it wouldn’t be politicking. I decided against.

  36. lateblum says:

Just returned from voting. It was very, very busy. Lots of people waiting for touch screen voting machines. I did the paper ballot. Not many eager to do the paper ballots. But I went when there was a lull in the voting. I was advised the number of people at my voting site had been huge before I arrived.

I live in the same ward, precinct as Jan Schakowsky, the representative for then9th district of IL so it isn’t unusual for her to have tons of supporters here. I was stopped outside the voting site by someone who said he recognized me from the “picnic for Jan the other day”. I responded by saying the last time I attended anything for Jan was about 15 years ago. I wasn’t rude. The man was obviously challenged and then said I resembled Debbie. (Turns out Debbie is Jan’s sister. ) He was clearly challenged and has some limitations r/t self care. I felt bad for him. I later found out he is Jan’s son. I’m glad I didn’t make him feel bad.

I voted against retaining all but 2 judges and “no” on all referenda. I voted for 1 incumbent and everything else was R unless there was only a Libertarian running against the Dem. If there was no opposition, I left it blank. I still feel like my vote was an exercise in futility here.

  43. Somebody says:

Field report from my reliably red area of Florida. We just voted, the place was hopping. First time I’ve had to stand in line since 2004. Hubby asked the guy at the door how turnout was. The man said outstanding, he told hubby our precinct broke it’s all time high turn out record just after 12:00pm.

When we got there the line was out the door, but moved at a pretty good pace. I’ve never seen so many poll workers and the new faces working the poll were far more efficient than the old familiar faces who were also working btw.

Once we made it through the line which took maybe 10 to 12 minutes or so, our ID was checked, we signed in and were given our ballots. Fairly small ballot so the actual voting was quick and I took the time to carefully fill in my bubbles😁 Round trip to vote about 30 minutes. Parking lot was full when we got there and full when we left. Only people voting in person would have reason to be there. We normally have a higher than average turn out so my goodness I can’t imagine what it will be today and all in person, voting day votes.

One caveat for why the turn out might be a local issue and not reflective of a national trend. My county is part of one of the new congressional districts in Florida and one of our hometown Boys is the republican candidate. If he wins it will be the 1st time anyone from our county has gone to DC to represent us, they are all usually from JAX. Half of JAX is in this district and the Democrat candidate is from JAX. So it could be a uniquely local thing driving the high turn out.

    • taw46 says:

That’s good to hear. My voting place was full, but I didn’t have to wait. People behind me had to wait, but just for a few minutes. Busiest I have seen it.

Just read a tweet by cernovich saying tonight ends the chances of Trump running or being king maker. PA is a big loss and AZ is looking iffy. I find the numbers hard to believe in both states. And Hochul?
So what if the swamp creatures including state swamp dwellers got together and said let’s divvy it up. Rethugs get a commanding gain in the house and dims gain a senate seat. President Trump was costing major players money and the global agenda he stalled. They said no one like him can come to power again. He fucked up their gravy chain. He had the audacity to work for the voter and not big interest.
I have seen Braddock. Fetterman is a media fabrication. He secured some massive grants to build a community center. Yawn. I went to high school with the mayor of a town just as left behind and he works harder than fetter. And the hoodies. Come on man what an insult to hard working blue collar people. And that’s all on the GOP picking those candidates, including Trump in a few of these cases.

  123. DandyTIger says:

Carnegie Mellon Professors donated. I can find people who contributed to her campaign and ask me to help free Harvey. I have an iPhone 14 might need to add a little to my cloud but I could have fun. I, when refused entry, to any press thing can harass reporters on their way out. Harvey is the easy one to think of but I could have a blast asking local reporters on scene the questions like was Paul Pelosi tested for sex related drugs when he went to the hospital for being hammered. I would be ignored but then I could ask the question when was the last time I was with another dude in my underwear holding a hammer. I could simply ask others on the street “When were you last at home in your boxer’s with another almost naked man wielding a hammer” I’d ask everyone I saw and maybe even join TomTom to spread the word.
It infuriates me that the real story is not being told no journalist not even fox is saying Paul may have had draNk, had a line, maybe x, maybe crystal. There was no question in my mind this was man sex gone wrong. I read in tabloids she is turning it around to a violent attack on her innocent husband.
Isn’t that by the lefts standards kind of homophobic to deny man on man?
