Douglas Murray is one author whose work I never skip if he writes a column that comes to my attention. He was the very first person Tucker Carlson chose to interview on his Fox Nation Today show. That interview prompted me to read “The Madness of Crowds”. Although a serious book, it made me laugh out loud. While this piece is very serious, Murray is often very funny. I used to say I was “fiscally conservative, but socially liberal”, but Murray convinced me that isn’t true. I’m straight conservative and proudly so. It’s just that what I want to conserve is true liberalism.
I always like hearing from Douglas Murray. And he is funny, he has that British humor.
Speaking of museums, I was a member of NYC’s Natural History Museum (AMNH) for years, not only to support it’s fine mission but to enjoy the perks and discounts of membership eating and shopping 🙂 I guess they noticed I haven’t renewed since they took Teddy Roosevelt’s statue down. Sent me a few reminders and I sent them one …. put the statue back, Teddy was your fucking founder you woke morons (not really that language, but I wish I had).
Good for you. I couldn’t believe that they went through with it, actually moved the statue. And most of the New Yorkers seemed to be fine with it, only a few protested. (And yes, that would have been great if you had used that language. 😁) What did they do with that statue, where is it?
Unlike a government plot, a business plot like Twitter’s can be revealed if there is the right change in ownership. Democrats regularly started losing control of Congress in the 90’s and started replacing it with a regulatory state along with vote suppression tactics.
I’m kind of siding with Anthony’s “let it burn” idea since Democrats seem to take the most damage when they just act like themselves. Dismey is going into the toilet. Parents don’t want to pay $200 a head to go to DW to find out they showed up on drag queen day. No one wants to see Indiana Jones erased from history in the new film after Harrison Ford was killed off in a Star Wars sequel. And no one wants to watch a Marvel movie these days. Plus, there’s a rumor Disney invested in FTX and is in deep financial trouble.
Until socialism is implemented, (which will be authoritarianism, since socialism doesn’t work) disengaging from the businesses that funnel money into woke crap is the way to starve the Democrats of needed income.
James Woods is supposedly going to sue the DNC, and may just be what we need for the country’s political disaster. A smart civilian with a big stick and mouth.
I’m not big on relying on one guy to save us all. We all have to be Spartacus in our own way. My small part is voting and not paying for crappy woke entertainment.

I’ll take one of those in my stocking. ❤ They meet my requirement of being a "real dog" and my kids' insistence any new dog who come to live with me must be one I can pick up and carry. It may not be what Ellie wants, though. She's enjoying being an only child again.
One of our friends (and her husband) is coming to stay with us for Christmas. Really two weeks, lol. She is bringing her two dogs and one looks just like this one.
IMO, the longhaired dachshund is the perfect dog. We downsized our breed when I found out doxies came with fur. I bought both of mine from litters brought into the vet clinic. First one was a divorce sale, hubby wanted pick of the litter, wifey wanted the mom and they would split money made off the rest. Good deal for me. Second was a longhair born into a smooth litter, both mom and dad were smooth. I had to have that little rogue. I loved all my dogs dearly, but these were my favorites, both passed over the bridge in their late teens. When I mourned them more than my own parents, I knew there would be no more. Which goes against every fiber of my love for dogs …. h/t Eugene O’Neill …

My remaining cat is loving life as an only. I wouldn’t even consider getting another cat until he goes. I would rescue a kitty (or dog) off the side of the road or whatever, but only to re-home.
EM, start doing squats now! Dachshunds are really low to the ground, picking them up isn’t as easy as you might think🤣
I was fine until my surgery and radiation, but thanks to years of grandkids I did lots and lots of squats daily☺️ I’m bummed at the weight gain from 9 months of being bedridden or a couch potato, half of it on steroids😔. Weight gain is bad enough, but they removed my groin nodes and then fried the area with radiation, that’s right where your inner thigh and pelvis meet. Man oh man it’s frustrating not being able to do the things I once could. It’s my fault now, I got the all clear to exercise in July☺️, so no excuses, all on me. The doctors say it will take time, but with work and patience I should regain most of my range of motion…….I just am a little light on the work and patience🤣
Another thing about dachshunds I’m sure you already know, they can be prone to back problems so it’s a good idea to have ramps instead of them jumping up onto furniture.
They will jump, because they love to be held and you can’t resist.❤️ They love to roll on their back and have you hold them like a baby❤️❤️ They also love to snuggle at night❤️❤️ I know you like to go for walks, not to worry they love walks. My sister and BIL have taken their dachshund on extensive hikes in the mountains and he loved it. I don’t know about others but the 3 we’ve owned were a breeze to housebreak. Mine are cross trained to use pads I put down when we’re away for 10-12 hours or more. Most of the time they don’t use them, but they’re there if they need them.
Dachshunds are most definately real dogs, despite their small stature they truly believe they are 10 foot tall and bullet-proof, They absolutely have a tendency to be the alpha and they really aren’t bothered by other family members having seniority/being bigger.
I love my babies but I’m not sure Ellie would.

Adorable. Would grab one no questions asked. But I am at my pet limit and dogs are far more noticeable than an extra kitty.
I would agree with getting a dog you can handle easily becomes more important as you age. will say Mom was fine with the standard collie until her 80s (no more dogs after that pup passed). But once Lassie dogs settle into their middle years they are very easy to handle than the picking them up (weight). And, unlike their cousins the border collies, never really have the excessive tirelessness of an energizer bunny .

you all probably know I do not agree with this article.
I’m assuming a rail worker can’t just take a day off without pay, so it doesn’t make much sense to say “oh, they can just miss a few hours of their huge, slightly below median, pay.” A lot of salaried people can buy vacation time where their salary is lowered by the days taken. I’m also sure that’s not allowed on railroads.
If a person on the extra list marked off one day, he could lose up to 5 days pay. If the list is not working and you stay marked up you still get paid because you are available for work. If you mark off you are not available.even when you mark up again, you have not been available for the whole 5 days and only get paid for what you worked that week. If you did get called for a job and did not work you were not available for the whole 5 days therefore no pay.

when you are on an extra list, you have to be available 24/6. you get one day off. If you are called and are not available, you will be “dropped” if you mark off you are not available.

example markup Sunday midnight. you are available. no markoff. get called for work on Tuesday and that is the only job for the week. Your relief day is Saturday. It can get expensive

I know we skewer older here, but does anyone know of anyone who uses fentynal recreationally. Maybe know of someone who knows someone. I’ve met lots of heroin users but never anyone who claimed to willingly use fentynal. I get that it’s used to cut other drugs, but with the hundreds of millions of pills siezed monthly you would think I’d encounter someone who was hooked. I have been to NA meetings and not once have I heard anyone say they were addicted to fent. Probably lumping it in with heroin? Horse would be drug of choice so I suppose they turn to fent when unavailable or too expensive. Just seems strange and now I’m hearing of a vaccine. Imagine how they will push that. You hear about OD’s on local news daily.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, so it’s probably a lot like the regular ones in terms of the high a user gets on it. The big problem is that’s its super concentrated, which makes it easier to smuggle and more likely to overdose. Plus, it takes multiple shots of Narcan to counteract.
The big drug was oxy. The unavailability led to the resurgence of heroin. I guess it boils down to the thing that addicts have a drug of choice, but they’re not always choosy.

Yet they abet in the delusion allowing children as young as 12 to mutilate themselves for life. Why? Who gains? The only thing that makes sense to me is progressivism is their religion. The cause is bigger than than one kid’s mental health. Journalistic integrity can be sacrificed because orange man bad is such a threat to a one world godless society.

I said Shay has form. I said Ortega has no shape and Shay reminds me more of a Cheryl Ladd. I pay for the bras but I am sexist and creepy if I say another girl is absent on top. Huh. Seems you are not allowed to compare women/girls in your own home.
It’s not creepy for you to acknowledge you think Shay is attractive and resembles a beautiful actress, It is creepy for a father figure to discuss the bra size of a young woman. If she thinks it’s creepy, than you should definitely stop immediately. If you don’t understand why it makes her uncomfortable, that’s a serious issue. How would you feel if your mother discussed the size of your penis in front of your friends?

By saying actress was not breasty I did say my brat was. That was perhaps inappropriate. I want her to have a healthy self esteem. She will never gain weight. It’s DNA. Sometimes girls have been mean to her about weight. She does not gain. I am 55 I weigh the same I did in high school. It’s genetic. Her friends struggle and trust me she collects some eclectic friends. My intent was to say she is more attractive than an actress. I do recognize that starting ballet and tae kwon do at 3 has given her body definition. She trained for years. I can say she has form without apology.

Fathers and or father figures, or uncles, do not discuss children’s bust sizes. It is inappropriate, and crosses a boundary. Shay is telling you that, when she says it’s creepy. You could apologize, tell her you didn’t realize, and don’t ever do it again.
I just got the most wonderful early Christmas gift. My two granddaughters just arrived for an overnight visit. I got a phone call asking me to come open the door and there they were.

I really need to abandon that email account and start another one. It’s why I hardly ever look at email anymore.

I can’t stop. I think it not possible for anyone to understand what it is like to be 3.5 years old and be able to read in a hospital when kids die The world was different in 1970. Parents got 15 minutes on the hour. I lived despite the odds. I have one inch scars on both my ankles, my groin has three thick scars, my left inner arm has a one inch scar. They used an experimental wire with my sternum so wires broke through. One side of my chest is a 1/4 higher than the other side. I had to breathe for a time from a whole in my throat. I did not die. I got to be a pretty gay boy in a steel town. Fun. I was beaten and pissed on, drenched in urine for the crime of sticking out. They kicked me and pissed on my face saying we know what f a ggot. My dad was busy breaking my bones in 1984. I spent hours in ER. I screwed up saying flat tits. I never said anything like that in real life. I have been called filthy by my own mother. I never want Shay to feel that level of shame. Call me out but recognize that I am not completely “self unaware”.
I had no legal or financial issues when I have checked into detox.

Already have. While we were at tea party, my CA sister got a picture from him with reindeer. That’s how I knew where he was. He and his GF travel a LOT. Her daddy has deep pockets and she’s one his 3 princesses, there is one son.
I keep telling my sister my nephew is going to have a hard time maintaining her lifestyle without daddy’s $$. Who knows maybe even if they get married daddy will still be generous??

I saw Brandon on Greg Kelly’s show, either Thurs or Fri. He was so good. He is starting a Walk Away social media site since FB wiped out his old one. He also talked about how the Trump haters will never stop going after him with their lies and distortions, and how he fought against some of those lies about Trump. One of the interesting things about teaching physics is finding so many things humans believe about how the universe works that just aren’t so, and how hard they will work to keep those beliefs even when shown those beliefs aren’t true.
