Oh My, as if New Yorkers don’t have enough to piss them off. I thought this was a nice tribute (did it for KC too?).

I’m at that point in winter where the only pretty snow pictures are the ones with snow on the ground and bright blue skies. 🙂 I’ve been to DC in every season except in winter. I’d vote for spring is the prettiest time to go.

    • DeniseVB says:

Snow photos may be too dreary for the Februaries, I think I’ll switch gear and look for those gorgeous winter garden shows and FLOWERS ! I’m going snow blind anyhow after a month of looking at ski resorts and winter sports 😉

      • elliesmom says:

In my world when it snows in October, the reaction is “Go away. We aren’t ready yet.” Snow is fine in November and December as long as it doesn’t interfere with Thanksgiving and Christmas. In January there’s nothing better than a good blizzard to shut things down for a couple of days. In February it’s “Enough already!” But then in March it’s fun to have it snow and see the little spring flowers poke their heads through. Nearly every house in my neighborhood has clumps of crocuses planted just for that smile.

While I often whine about how depressing I find winter, I don’t complain about the snow. I tell you all about how much Ellie loves it. About putting on crampons so I can make it down the hill so my mail carrier won’t call the police for a corpse check. About making dinner to thank the guy across the street for digging me out. I hope you all know I love that part of winter. None of that is whining about snow. It’s that part of winter that gets me through how short the days are.

The problem this year is the first snow didn’t fall until after Christmas, and then it hasn’t really stopped. But before I even get to take a picture, the rain has washed it all away. Ellie hasn’t been able to make a single snow angel yet. The plows have been down my street once, and that was only because the rain didn’t start before the school buses needed to get out. By afternoon the streets were bare. The kids haven’t had a single snow day yet. All of the rain keeps the lake from freezing over so no skating and no sledding.

I think we’d all love a good snow about now. But there isn’t any in the immediate forecast. Just more clouds and snain. 🙂

        • lateblum says:

Yesterday was the first snow sledding day at Mount Trashmore (a man made hill at one of the parks) that Calamity and Big Sis had this winter. They were exhausted but happy last night.
Because I have no garage where I live, and the nearest public parking lot is open air, I had to clean off my car 3 times. And the slush on the streets was super deep – well over the tops of my boots. But I still like winter snow. Even though today is cloudy, the snow cover on the ground, bushes and trees brightens my view.

            LOL
Instead of the super bowl we can have a throw down:
Virginia Beaches’ Mount Trashmore versus Evanston’s

I think Evanston’s stands a far far better chance of actually having snow for sledding but Denise and I both have a special fondness for VBs.

          • DeniseVB says:

We have a Mt Trashmore too ! Used to be our go to sledding destination for our flat coastal area, but they shut it down because idiots used anything they could get their hands on….had some bad accidents, especially a bathtub incident and why we can’t have fun things anymore.

            • lateblum says:

My son said it was kinda like the Wild West out there on Sunday. He, of course, stayed with the girls and they remained safe but not entirely injury-free. He was pretty critical of the parents who simply dropped off the kids and just let them run wild. So I’m expecting that this venue might have a short life if things aren’t a bit more tame.

  3. DeniseVB says:

What….Fresh…Hell…… I noticed this “joint” Obama faux rage about Tyre, of course we can expect the attention craving Obamas to keep themselves in the spotlight. But wait, Obama follows up with a pitch to visit his .org to learn how to stop racism or something. I didn’t click, but I bet there’s a donate button. Gonna start calling him Little Al, Sharpton can’t be around forever and someone has to take over pouring gasoline on the fires.

    • DeniseVB says:

The first tweet had Michelle’s twitter on the same line with both their pictures, but it didn’t share like that. Click on the first timestamp and it still shows up “jointly” on Twitter.

    • taw46 says:

There’s that word they love, “reimagine”. I’d like to “reimagine” that he and Michelle were never in the White House, that I had never heard of the Obamas.

    • taw46 says:

I scrolled through his .org. It’s all about race and money, also threw in a little trans. Gotta keep themselves in the spotlight for that day they announce Michelle will be running. 😁

Do you sometimes wonder what they do all day, everyday? Especially him. The MSM leaves him alone to do his thing, only reporting on him when he wants them to. Is he traveling all over the country, all over the world, meeting with so-called world leaders? Or is he traveling for personal pleasure? Just curious. I can’t see him sitting home everyday in DC, reading a book. And certainly not with Michelle, lol.

      • elliesmom says:

I’m guessing his has some discreet friends he hangs out with. The paparazzi leave him alone so he’s free to come and go as long as he stays out of the public eye. Private jets belonging to someone else can take him anywhere he wants to go. Lots of secluded resorts under private ownership. I reimagine him as a leader in SPECTRE, minus the cat, of course.

      • Mt.Laurel says:

I mentioned above how they seem to still feel the need to pretend they are a close couple. Only reason would be for $$$$$$ and potential future appointments or running for office. It’s clear they do not like one another.

Here’s an idea: Don’t hire gangster thugs as cops in the name of racial diversity. They were unprofessional street thugs on a power trip. Hire people based on their qualifications, not their skin color. Now this will be used to demonize all cops, putting their lives at risk. 🤬

I watch Tucker Carlson’s nighttime show the next morning while I eat my breakfast. That leaves me looking for something to watch on Sunday and Monday. One of the things I often choose is Bret Weinstein’s Dark Horse Podcast he does with his wife. They are evolutionary biologists who were driven from academia by the woke mobs over accusations of racism. Now they’re coming after her because she said there are only two sexes. This discussion is interesting all the way through, but their description of the Ts as parasites offered some clarity. Also it opens a discussion about how the woke mob takes “hostages”. Why we need to be able make jokes.

Surber’s post today on ending Black History month paid for the year 😀

      • lateblum says:

In Chicago, Black History Month is every month that has at least 28 days.

      • elliesmom says:

When I was teaching 8th grade, the history curriculum was world history to the Renaissance. Our history teacher spent most of February focused on Africa. In the 8th grade the kids were also supposed to learn how to write a basic research paper. The English teacher asked the kids to choose a topic relevant to Black History and suggested they ask the history teacher for some ideas. I think she’s still waiting for them to ask. The English teacher got papers about MLK, Rosa Parks, and one Nichelle Nichols from the class Trekkie. Every black boy wrote about Jackie Robinson. This was the 9th year the kids had celebrated Black History Month in school. Yes, it’s a waste of time to separate it out.

        • 1539days says:

I’d think George Washington Carver would get some ink.

        • elliesmom says:

The kids may have heard about Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver in previous years, but it didn’t “stick”. One girl’s dad was a lawyer and suggested she write about Brown vs. the Board of Education, but she wrote about Rosa Parks.

In the fall the history teacher had done a “living wax museum” with the kids. There could be only one statue paying homage to a person. The English teacher and I helped the kids find interesting people, and there were 130 different “statues”, We offered to help the kids find topics for their papers, but they weren’t interested. They wanted “easy”, including the black kids. I’m not exaggerating about how few topics there were for the papers. That’s truly what they chose.

The next year the history teacher showed the kids a couple of videos. American Black history was not her curriculum. She had a full plate of other things she was responsible for teaching. A bulletin board about Black History month the principal could see got her a pass. Bad scores on the world history she was supposed to teach could get her fired.

What is real? I have no idea what to believe. I was told Covid was taking people out left and right. They shut down a country. I don’t know anyone who had the China flu. I , we did the two weeks but ignored lockdowns. Now they are saying the clot shot has AiDS symptoms. I shop for people born in 1953. Not one has gotten the death flu. We never shot down. I do not believe tv.

    • Somebody says:

I know a lot of people that have had covid, including my mother, all of my siblings, my son, my grandkids, numerous other relatives and friends. At least they tested positive for covid for what that is worth and they were sick. I know a couple of people that died from covid. As it happens I know two people that were categorized as covid deaths that absolutely were not covid deaths.

I don’t know anyone that I personally can claim died from the vaccine, but a couple that are at least suspicious. However correlation does not mean causation. By the same token I know lots of people that had the covid vaccine, various ones and they seem to be just fine.

I think there has been a lot of hyping, a lot of gaslighting and just a lot of manipulation, but I do think there was/is a virus. In fact there are people that comment regularly here that have had covid.

As far as the vaccines, more lying, gaslighting and manipulation. What the motivation is for any of it, I don’t know. So many possibilities, some quite dark and nefarious, others just people trying their best and everything in between.

      • SHV says:

“I think there has been a lot of hyping, a lot of gaslighting and just a lot of manipulation, but I do think there was/is a virus. ”
        *****
The first wave was bad; my wife was in charge of one of two ICU’s filled with COVID patients on vents., with spill over into any other rooms with proper ventilation. When she started sending pts. to the morgue, she moved out for three months to try and protect me. At that time, just as the vaccine became available, the demographic risk profile was reasonably well understood, over 65, medical risk factors, etc. At that point in time, a reasonable recommendation would have been….experimental vaccine, don’t know long term effects but risk/benefit recommends use over 65, etc.

Over time, with each new variant, the virus is more contagious but less virulent and positive effects of the vaccine have become much less with each mutation and short and long term harmful effects more evident. The really strange and crazy comes in with the Gov’t constantly doubling down on vaccine, to include infants when on going data doesn’t support it. The CDC has been “cooking the books” since day one. Any death within 30 days of a +Covid test is a Covid death, any hospital adm. with a positive test is Covid; inflated the already very low childhood mortality by 30% and when caught said OOPS, coding error. Then scientifically disproven mask mandates, lock downs, etc. etc.

Makes no sense except that it follows same disordered thinking as Climate “science”. Perhaps the best description is Neo-Lysenkoism.

        • 1539days says:

The theory is Muller’s Ratchet. Viruses that survive and propagate don’t tend to kill the host. In many cases, communicable disease become more communicable and since the host is less sick, also spreads it more readily. Rhinoviruses are extremely effective as they are the common cold.

There are diseases like Lyssa (rabies) that are highly fatal and not very contagious. They exist for a long time, but don’t propagate to a lot of people. In the case of COVID, something like 5% of the Earth’s population may have contracted it.

      • jentx says:

Go and just read the journals. The American Assoc. of Morticians reported a 40% INCREASE in deaths under 60 and tons of reports of clots so large and tenuous they could NOT extract IN ONE YEAR. Read what the CEO’s of life insurance companies are saying (same numbers NEVER before in history of life insurance have they seen such a jump in one year). The first two class action lawsuits re: jab are flight pilots and stewardesses and they are seeing same stats re: heart attacks among pilots and serious (i.e. disabling) symptoms in stewardesses. Look at the testimony of army nurses who testified that men/women were dizzy and could NOT FLY safely after the jab only to be re-assigned by military elite. Of course there was a covid virus created in lab with Fauci and other assholes and it morphed down as it traveled through the population (miracle) but look at the numbers PEOPLE WHY AM I HAVING TO REPEAT THIS 80% of people who died in America DIED IN TWO FUCKING STATES do you think the virus targeted those states on purpose NOPE and statistically impossible AGAIN it was because in these two states governors put sick seniors back in nursing homes instead of hospitals. 99% of people who died from covid died due to the fact instead of treating them with ivermectin and zinc medical ‘professionals’ waited until they could not breath, put them on ventilators and remdisvor and KILLED THEM. Simply telling people to stop drinking, lose some weight, take a bit more zinc and magnesium and stay in sun would be BEST defense and invermectin 2nd. Masks beyond stupid, staying inside worst advice ever, 6 feet rule beyond stupid..ALL STUPID STUPID STUPID. NO ONE TRYING THEIR BEST and all the doctors and nurses who saw the HORRIBLE things being done in name of ‘science’ and medicine were SHUT DOWN, HARASSED, FIRED and sued. We have a horrendous nursing shortage because of it and most nurses good ones are in private homes now and have been sharing stories of what they saw. As far as jabs go ridiculous. Sorry to insult but I have of course been proven right as now they are saying did nothing BUT KILL. Do not forget the BUT KILL. And sure you feel fine but again you cannot see what you have done. England shot down first round of shots due to women starting their periods and never stopping and people testing positive for Aids. Sure as heck did. The shit in those jabs will do the following: mesh with your dna and make your immune system run itself into oblivion trying to get rid of foreign substance — which it cannot — making you susceptible to dying from simple colds. Kill your arteries with clots and overwhelm your heart. Make you bleed from your vagina and never stop. Make you unable to procreate. Make you dizzy and unable to stand/work until heart gives out. In some people it will end their lives quickly in others longer but ALL jabs were/are beyond dangerous. AND THINK PEOPLE follow the MONEY Ivermectin cheap and effective, jabs expensive killers, prevention important and they told people to do the OPPOSITE of what would have helped, etc., etc. India fed country watered down Ivermectin and almost no one died. go figure. Please wake up because this was a test and we failed we did not apply critical thinking we did NOT pass the test and 100’s and 100’s of millions will die. The winter of death is here and it is the jabbed who are dying.

    • 1539days says:

So, SARS was the previous version of COVID. It was so deadly it basically burned out. When they tried making a regular (not mRNA) vaccine for the SARS-COV1 virus, the immune systems of the test animals collapsed and the testing was halted. Immune system destruction is also the major symptom of AIDS.
