Greetings to all the TCHers who have been able unable to be with us for a while. I know we all hope you are progressing and will be popping up sometime in the future. Until then you are with us in spirit.

And for our very own Ellie’s Mom
Bon Anniversaire from your Birthday Twin!

The column about Sparkle’s podcast, etc. on Unherd is so well written.

“It’s no surprise that Meghan was drawn to the idea of podcasting, the dream of a conversation over which she has total control. But for Archetypes to work, its host would have had to recognise that the point of interviewing other people is to tell their stories, not to use them as a vehicle for telling, and retelling, your own. But even Meghan’s dialogues with celebrity guests have a funny way of circling back to become all about Meghan herself — her Cinderella story, her identity struggles and her yearning to be affirmed and accepted, first by Hollywood and then by the Royals.

And here, though evidently without meaning to, the podcast does manage to fulfill its promise on one front: if you were looking for a 12-hour portrait of the archetypal narcissist, you could not do better than this.”

Twitter still has the lefty bias. I signed out of my Twitter account and deleted cookies, and when I lurk I see lefty tweets only.

Are people accepting the destruction in the same way that American elites did during the Summer of Love 2020?

        • jadzia1971 says:

Depends on your perspective. Nanterre, where this happened, is a pretty ritzy suburb. I’m pretty sure the elites who live there (some of whom I’m related to) are not very accepting. However, most of the rioting is in the suburbs, which are crime-ridden neighborhoods to begin with and so no, I’m not hearing people being that concerned about it.

(This is also true for our town. Our rioters are, as usual, from two specific suburbs where car overturning and burning has been the official sport for years now. So nobody is that worried.)

That said, I did notice that ALL public transit stopped running at 10pm last night and now, on Friday afternoon, it’s been announced that everything is going to stop running at 8. Which here is like 2 hours BEFORE sunset. So I don’t know if the powers that be think that tonight is going to be worse or what.

Well, I’d had some interest in RFK, but that quote deals with that. I would be fine with getting rid of legacy admissions as well. Grades are the only thing that should matter for college.

      • DeniseVB says:

How about liberal hero admissions, like David Hogg ? I guess he’s still hanging in there, but what a joke.

        • Miranda says:

Colleges have many issues with admission. Being admitted to Harvard used to sound impressive, but not so much now.

In this pic MP kept reminding me of someone and I finally realized it is Prince Andrew with the chipmunk face look as he hit the late middle years. But not as nearly as well groomed/tailored and on a really bad day (and he certainly has had a few of those).
