If you are married or have a girlfriend (or both), today is one of the most important days of the year. If you are a single and unattached male, it’s just another Friday. I did learn one thing from my VD experiences – Never buy extravagant gifts early in a relationship (which is when you are most likely to be tempted to do so) because you will be expected to meet or exceed that level every year.
Oh, yeah – one more: Never give your woman power tools on Valentine’s Day.

We don’t do Valentine’s anymore (our love is eternal, also it saves me from having to figure out something to get him), but one year, mr.mir gave me a bouquet of yarn skeins and a candy box filled with lottery scratchers. That was fun π
I got boxes of marble tiles one year because it’s what you buy at the “floorist”. Hidden away under the tiles was a contract for the builder to install heat under them next to the shower. Best Valentine’s Day present ever.
That is the coolest warmest gift ever. π
We’re very non-traditional romantic (I expect to be treated like every day is Valentine’s, Mother’s or any other Hallmark holiday π ). I got a bouquet of red camellias clipped off our neighbor’s bush and a leftover cookie from last night’s poker game. The tradition continues π
I tell hubby same, treat me like everyday is VD, because if you don’t then there will be no Valentine around here π Mother’s day, forget about it π I wouldn’t know what to do if I was wished Happy Mother’s Day, might be the end of me, instant heart attack π
Mother’s Day is spent taking care of my mother and appropriately kissing her ass, and no matter what I do it is never enough or good enough. To this day I hear about every disappointment through the years, the time he steak was overdone, the time the waiter took too long to refill her drink π My siblings ditch, every year and leave me to “take care of” Mother’s Day. Even though it’s usually my anniversary weekend and for a decade I was the only one with kids…….not that I’m bitter about it. π
This year hubby surprised me with a card, candy and a sappy love letter at 6am. Boy do I look like a bitch, here’s some red hots in a tube with a heart on top from the dollar store π
The anniversary of our engagement is on the 28th, and ED went all out for that. He said our wedding anniversary was a day for everyone else, but the engagement was for us. On the 28th I got the roses, the jewelry, the fancy dinner out. But Valentine’s Day was just for fun. He always had something silly to give me and dinner was usually at home and comfort food, not fancy. He said it was a night to be grateful he didn’t need to look for a date. We’d pick a movie one of us would like and the other could have fun making fun of. One year it was “Bridges of Madison County”, and he spent the entire evening suggesting what guy could show up at the door and get me to leave with him. He decided it would be Tom Selleck because if it was Clint Eastwood, I’d miss the mustache tickle kisses too much. Facebook has reminded me I’ve made deep dish pizza for Valentines’s Day dinner on more than one occasion, and it sounds good so I’m going to make some pizza dough.
I detest going out for dinner on Friday or Saturday nights when it’s NOT Valentine’s Day. No way we’re going out, but I have filet mignon and all the trimmings to cook. Many moons ago I used to make everything heart shaped on Valentine’s. Some things were a major PIA, and then one day I decided it just wasn’t worth it.
Renting a movie sound good π€ There isn’t much playing right now at the theater AND it will probably be packed.
Tom Selleck, used to have such a crush on him! If he showed up at my door though it would probably be to get me to take out a reverse mortgage π

The U.S. is sending an evac plane for the Americans, but Matthew doesnβt want to go. Mainly because he doesnβt want to be around others who may be infected.
They supposedly canβt take any luggage or carry-on, or all of it, thatβs what the other person is referring to – no overhead bins. But Matthewβs main concern, he feels he and his wife are fine. Just donβt want to be placed on a plane with others who may be sick. And his quarantine is about 4 days from ending, he doesnβt want to go into another 14 day quarantine.
