Who’s The Boss?

A story broke into the headlines this weekend, but the angle that the media is pimping is not the one that matters.

F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. But the president’s activities before and after Mr. Comey’s firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Mr. Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russia investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry, the people said.

The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, took over the inquiry into Mr. Trump when he was appointed, days after F.B.I. officials opened it. That inquiry is part of Mr. Mueller’s broader examination of how Russian operatives interfered in the 2016 election and whether any Trump associates conspired with them. It is unclear whether Mr. Mueller is still pursuing the counterintelligence matter, and some former law enforcement officials outside the investigation have questioned whether agents overstepped in opening it.

The criminal and counterintelligence elements were coupled together into one investigation, former law enforcement officials said in interviews in recent weeks, because if Mr. Trump had ousted the head of the F.B.I. to impede or even end the Russia investigation, that was both a possible crime and a national security concern. The F.B.I.’s counterintelligence division handles national security matters.

There is a word for this kind of thing. It’s called a “coup.” (If Barack Obama is reading this, the word is pronounced “koo”)

The media seems to think this story is bad for Trump. Your head has to be pretty far up your ass to think this story makes Trump look bad. This story makes the FBI look like corrupt Keystone Kops. All FBI authority is derivative of the authority of the President under Article II of the Constitution. If they can investigate the President then that would put them above him and that would be unconstitutional. Only Congress has that kind of power.

Buried several paragraphs down you’ll find this sentence:

No evidence has emerged publicly that Mr. Trump was secretly in contact with or took direction from Russian government officials.

Given that the government leaks like an old lady with incontinence problems, I think we can safely say, “No evidence exists” that Trump was secretly in contact with Russia. But what if he was? Trump doesn’t need the approval of the FBI to engage in negotiations with a foreign government. He doesn’t even need to tell them that he’s doing it.

As a matter of fact, I believe that the President could lie to the FBI and say he wasn’t talking to Putin when he actually was. Let’s say that Trump is secretly negotiating a treaty with Russia that would resolve every single issue we have with them. Trump knows that if the story leaks that Democrats and Deep Staters would sabotage the negotiations. So he is keeping everyone else in the dark until the deal is done.

Now let’s say that the FBI becomes aware that Jared Kushner secretly met with a Putin envoy while ostensibly on vacation in France. They start an investigation. Do they have to tell Trump? Damn straight they do. So Trump tells them to quash the investigation without telling them why. Do they get to keep secretly investigating?

Fuck no.

The last thing I want to point out is that when Comey was fired it wasn’t exactly a big shock to anyone. And even though Trump doesn’t need a reason, Comey’s firing was not only more than justified based on what we knew then, subsequent revelations have shown that Comey should have been fired much earlier.

This story doesn’t break any new ground. It’s not just fake news, it is recycled fake news.

What Democrats see when they peek out their windows.

Meanwhile over in LaLa Land. H/t New Orleans for the linky…..it’s been a crazy afternoon with our favorite banned from Twitter gal Laura Loomer. She’s been trending 🙂

  2. Myiq2xu™ says:

What if Putin told Trump to fire Comey as part of a treaty negotiation?

Vlad: “This Comey guy is getting on my last nerve. I want you to fire him and quash any investigations into me and my friends. If you do, I’ll know you are sincere about making peace.”

If Trump agreed, would he be breaking any laws?

(I’m not asking if it would be a good idea, just whether it would be legal.)

    • DeniseVB says:

Trump hasn’t broken any rules since he was born. Seriously, I think the only hot model that ever turned him down for a date was Candice Bergen, who thought he dressed weird in college (she was a college classmate). He wore suits to classes every day, in the late 60’s I get it, it was weird then. I read Bergen’s books, I love her, but the “my brother was a dummy” kind of explains her youth. A lovely, entitled youth and probably how she ended up with a Manson Family enabler later that era. I think it was Doris Day’s son? I’ve got to stop connecting Hollywood dots to their current crazies now. LOL.

The left is saying staff writers at Daily caller wrote it. My favorite is don’t pay attention to it because it is an anonymous source. “It’s different when we do it.”

    • DeniseVB says:

I don’t trust “anonymous” sources even if they are supportive of the President. I worked as a federal employee long enough to know My God, S/He nailed it. Obama did double fed employees while cutting private sector jobs through “regulations”. We’re starting to understand that now as Trump keeps exposing “deep state”.

      • taw46 says:

Whoever wrote it didn’t say that was Trump’s plan, just that it was what he/she wanted the President to do. And then listed the reasons why. I am 100% for it. omg, can you imagine if they started firing federal employees? We would need troops in the streets, lol.

        • DeniseVB says:

I’m looking at privatizing parts of the government, especially the Carter Education and the Bush DHS. Both which worked better under state and private enterprises. I trust Trump’s gut. And I love that he loves staying in DC while the Dems party 😀

I think it is quite possible they they are taking meticulous notes on what works and what does not. Each day they find out more details about what really needs to be done and they find a way to handle and what resources are needed. On a related note, I watched Mrs Doubtfire last night and thought the Harvey Fierstein character was Harvey Fienstein. They do look alike, 26 years ago? Names are so confusing. Thank goodness for imdb, I also found out there was a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel in the planning for years, then Robin Williams died, and no studio would greenlight it without him.

I’d have no problem terminating my relationship with my husband if he was as hostile as hers apparently is. I wonder if he thinks she’d leave her job before she’d leave him.

      • Constance says:

I’d say their marriage is dead and she’s not too worried about it and would be relieved to ditch him. At this point they are co-parenting their kids and not ready to divide up the assets and that’s about it. Their oldest must be around 15. Also would guess he is a typical husband who can’t take that her career is more high profile than his and his anti Trump behavior is just acting out against her. I doubt he has the integrity to hold a strong opinion but rather blows with the popular wind.

Thank you. I was going to look it up but your explanation does a better job at getting to what I was thinking. There is a specialist/specialty facility involved that has a reputation for the type of surgery needed. I figured it would be out of pocket.

When Elliesdad and I announced we were getting married, the Colonel I was working for took him aside and told him he had just tripled the odds he would have a successful career. When Elliesdad got his first really big promotion, his boss told him to go home and thank his wife. Jeff Bezos owes his wife every penny she walks away from the marriage with, and if it’s not at least half of the wealth they have amassed together, then he owes her more. Whether a wife contributes to the ideas behind her husband’s business or not, the support she provides gives him the wings to succeed. Likewise, if the choice is a poor one, the spouse becomes a drag, and the marriage becomes a liability, and not just financially.

It is WHAT she is doing, referencing a tweet from the other day. They’re mad at Graham right now, so out come the nasty smears about “serious kink”. They are evil.

“The smirk Ruhle produced when she spoke suggests she was referring to rumors about Graham’s sexuality, which some Democrats have been trumpeting anew recently. Jon Cooper, chairman of the Democratic Coalition super PAC, explicitly accused Graham on Saturday of letting himself be blackmailed for “some pretty serious kink.”

I don’t think Areva Martin “got” that the insulting part of using the term “white privilege” was that SHE was insulting herself not the audience or Webb. She was too stupid to even understand that she was showing her ignorance and laziness. Rather than doing any of the legwork herself, was depending on her staff (who most likely got the berating of the century)to “get it right”. The whole “I’m trying to apologize to you”, that she said ought to have been, I’m apologizing to the world for being lazy and stupid and resorting to the oh-so-easy “white privilege” meme to insult someone I do not know and didn’t think important enough to learn about before talking with.

Texas: Muslim migrant couple convicted of keeping girl as slave for 16 years
January 14, 2019 5:00 PM By Robert Spencer

Slavery is acceptable in Islam. The Qur’an has Allah telling Muhammad that he has given him girls as sex slaves: “Prophet, We have made lawful to you the wives to whom you have granted dowries and the slave girls whom God has given you as booty.” (Qur’an 33:50)
