The jury is deliberating. The rioters are waiting.

What else is happening?

This is an open thread.

  1. Had to teach this morning, so I only caught the first 45 minutes of O’Mara’s closing. Getting caught up now.

  2. elliesmom says:

I have to believe there’s at least one woman on that jury who will refuse to convict Zimmerman.

  3. helenk3 says:

anti zimmerman protesters in place per fox news

  4. WOW! Just got the 4 minute pause part. Very effective.

    • Mary says:

Agree. Points out dramatically that Martin had a long period of time to just go home safely, if that had been his choice.

It wasn’t. Martin doubled back and jumped Zimmerman, just as Zimmerman said he did.

  5. Comment from Channel 9 FB page:

Not guilty. It will be a sad day for anyone who has faith in the American Justice System if Georger Zimmerman is found guilty. That will mean that you can murder your wife (OJ) and murder your baby (Casey Anthony) in cold blood, but if you kill someone in self defense you get locked up. Burden of proof is on the State. They’ve proven nothing. Not guilty.

CNN has an interview with O’Mara (filmed earlier sometime) laying it all on Ben Crump. Really incredible stuff. It is a bunch of clips from the entire interview.

I bet when CNN got the interview they had no idea it would be like this.

  8. lyn says:

I hope justice prevails. I want Zimmerman to be found not guilty. Zimmerman’s life will never be the same, and I don’t expect he will receive adequate compensation for this political prosecution. Martin’s parents have won financially, and the Democrats kept black voters on their plantation to re-elect Obama. Zimmerman never deserved this.

  9. driguana says:

Make no mistake…justice in this country is not blind…it is incredibly political! Many judges and justices are political appointments so however they rule, those on the other side will object…what to do. I like the way my Kpelle friends in Liberia did it….they boiled up a pot of hot oil and you had to reach in and retrieve an object from the bottom of the pot. If you were guilty, you got burned. Straight forward.

    Two hours and no verdict.

    • Mary says:

I think they’ll wait overnight even if they’re ready, so they can’t be accused of a “fix.”

    • angienc says:

Bullshit compromise verdict is coming. Sadly, many people — especially women — think that Zimmerman should get “something” because “the kid is dead.”

      • I have no idea what is going to happen. That is certainly one outcome.

        • angienc says:

I didn’t say I knew what was coming; I was surmising what was going on based on 2 hours without a verdict, but thanks for clearing it up that what I wrote is “certainly one outcome.”

        • Are we really going to get into another semantic fight because you’re pissed at someone else? AGAIN? How else is someone supposed to interpret “Bullshit compromise verdict is coming” other than a prediction? My comment was not an admonishment; it was simply an attempt at chatter while we all wait. You offer your opinion, I offer mine kind of thing.

Let’s not get snippy with each other over bullshit, okay? Today is not the day. Srsly.

  14. More protesters show up. Think creating some noise while the jury deliberates might be on the agenda?

  15. Watching Guy’s rebuttal. He’s using his seduction voice. Show’s what a damned sexist he is. Hope the ladies see it.

  16. helenk3 says:

on the TV I just read that the FBI is beginning a separate investigation to see if martins civil rights had been violated.
    WTH

    • helenk3 says:

sorry the FBI got involved in this case last year. can not find results of the investigation

    • Mary says:

This has already been done. Several witnesses/neighbors said their immediate interviews after the incident were done by FBI agents, not local cops. FBI found no indication of racism or civil rights issues in the interviews done with Zimmerman’s neighbors.

FBI/DOJ had been in this from the gitgo.

Here’s a thought: Maybe they’re investigating whether Zimmerman’s civil rights have been violated by the race hustlers….. (ok, a girl can dream)

  17. myiq2xu says:

So much for my prediction of a fast acquittal.

  18. Anthony says:

😆 😆 😆 MSNBC playing John Guy clip from summation over and over and over again:

“Isn’t that every child’s worst nightmare, to be followed on the way home in the dark by a stranger?” Guy said. “Isn’t that every child’s worst fear?”

Yeah.. Isn’t it every pot smoking, purple drank swilling, truant, wannabe thug, cracker hating child’s worst fear?

I’m getting really sick of this “Saint Trayvon vs the Racist White Dragon” bullshit. ALL the pundits are saying that GZ “racially profiled” TM. Let me ask you this: If there was a rash of burglaries that were being perpetrated by 7 foot tall Asian women, do you think GZ would have thought TM was a possible perp? I think not. Not from the evidence provided to describe GZ’s character.

My heart goes out to TM’s family as it would to any family who lost a child in such a violent, tragic fashion; an event that could have been avoided so easily. But my heart also goes out to the families of those who have had a loved one sacrificed on the altar of political machination because of intentionally provoked rancor, as it seems is most likely going to happen to GZ.

I sincerely hope that the evidence will exonerate GZ, as it all seems to be. But I have little faith that justice will served, because of the twisted spectacle this case has become.

    Ok…. I’m better now…..

    • Anthony says:

I sincerely hope that the evidence will exonerate GZ, as it all seems to be *in his favor*

      Ok – now I’m done

    • myiq2xu says:

Thousands of young black men die every year from violence. Most are killed by other young black men.

      • Anthony says:

My thought was that it could have been avoided if TM would have just not tried to be Super-thug. The whole “You’ve got a problem now, mothefucker” followed by a sucker punch is what got him killed.

        • Mary says:

He HAD 4 minutes to just go home safely. He CHOSE to double back and jump GZ, like the stupid little teenage thug he really was.

Prosecution to Zimmerman jury: “follow your heart.” Translation: “the mob outside knows where you live.”

  22. myiq2xu says:

The jury is done deliberating for the day. They will start again tomorrow morning.
